Thank you for showing us our culture through the lens of our neighbors. When I lived in Germany, I was visiting the Alps. One Sunday morning we drove by an Alpine church and the parishioners were spilling out of the church wearing dirndls and lederhosen. I thought “they have no idea how special of a moment this is for me ❤ edit: love from Texas!

American's are like a huge family. We may have our differences and fight like siblings, but like a family if you mess with one of our brother's or sister's you better be ready to take us all on. A dysfunctional family we may appear to be, but we can come together quickly when need be.

Philadelphia native and long time resident here. Was living in the lower NE part of Philly when this happened. The city, particularly a few parts, went nuts when the news hit. If wasn't late on a Sunday - hence lots of people working on Monday, the crowds in cities like Philly, New York, DC, Boston, Chicago, LA, etc. would have been nuts.

I remember where I was. I live in Alaska so it was still kinda early. We are 5 hours behind New York time. I was cooking dinner listening to the TV and when the President came on, I turned dinner down and started jumping up and down when he broke the news. I have many friends and family that were military. I kept thinking that they will be coming home soon.

I remember this night and the emotions I felt. I've seen this video and the emotions are always the same - gladness that someone so evil is gone, sadness for the people who have suffered because of him, pride in those who persisted in bring justice for those we lost and for their families, relief that a chapter of this tragedy was finally closed. Thank you for reacting to this.

I still remember this night. For context, I’m a veteran. I joined because of 9/11. I was out of the military at this point, and I happened to be in a band. My band happened to be playing a show that night. It was the end of a 5 day run with some good friends of ours, and we happened to be the headliner this night. Right before we went on stage, I got a text from my dad letting me know what happened. I told my band mates, and they decided that I should tell the crowd. We had shots prepared, I told the crowd what happened, cheersed the crowd, and immediately broke into our first song. I had a lot of drinks bought for me that night. Def a night I’ll never forget. Thanks for your reaction. Love the channel!

I grew up near Philly and now that Im married, I live in the home area of Todd Beamer, one of the heros from Flight 93. I was in 2nd grade (7yrs old) during 9/11/01. When Bin Laden was deleted, I was in 11th grade (17 yrs old). One of the things I thought was such a wonderful miracle was that this game that was happening "in my own backyard" involved two teams that are based in states most immediately/impacted by 9/11/01. People from Philly commute to NYC often since they are so close together. People in Philly were wondering if Philly was gonna get hit at some point because we were the next major city between the Baltimore & D.C. area. Flight 93 was taken down in a field in Shanksville, PA by Todd Beamer and other selfless passengers.
The fact it was large group of PA and NY meeting in one place on national TV at the time still sends chills down my spine because it meant and means so much to us in the Tri-State area (PA/NJ/NY).

I worked an afternoon shift job at the time. We had TVs (muted) on cable news channels and we saw headlines going across the bottom of the screen. We were a bit stunned by the new. Everyone was trying to find news articles online to get details. I got off at 11:00 pm and made it home in time to watch the news conference.

This game was longer than normal; most baseball games last 9 innings. Baseball does not permit tie games, so they'll play extra innings as long as it takes to determine the winner.
They recently added a pitch clock to shorten how long a game lasts.

There are always other channels with things besides sports (thank God). I remember when this happened. I don't remember what I was watching (def not baseball- not a big fan), but I remember the news conference, and later the movie "Zero Dark Thirty". I cried. While I was glad that Bin Laden was gone, I was also filled with dread about potential retaliation. It's also sad that it takes death or tragedy to unite Americans. I hope that gets better. I remember being a kid in the early 60s-80s, and it was so different- both from the innocence of childhood, and also because social media didn't spread hate because it didn't exist. Even though I completely understand why the US didn't tell Pakistan, I did worry about future diplomatic relationships with Pakistan.

I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. Me and my cousin were walking through a Walmart in Shreveport, Louisiana and saw it on a display tv in the electronics section and heard people celebrating. It was a wonderful moment of complete strangers coming together when we finally served justice over 9/11, an event that was seared into a generation’s conscious. Despite our differences and disagreements never forget how our country rallied together in the face of adversity and when justice was had over such a tragedy. God bless the United States armed forces.

This game was really long & went into extra innings. It also started later because it was a nationally televised regular season game. MLB games, without extra innings (kinda like overtime), range from 2 to 2.5 hours. If there’s a ton of hitting, game could go on longer.

The strange thing is and many younger Americans don’t know is that Bin Laden was once a quasi-ally to the US as we supported the Afghan rebels vs the Soviet Union in the 80’s.
Kinda an enemy of my enemy is my friend type of deal.
Once the Soviets pulled out of Afghanistan OBL no longer served a purpose to the US and he became even more radicalized towards the west.

I think at the time Europeans wanted to downplay this event because this event took place was when some of the countries were opening their communities to migrations and didn’t want it to be seen as hostile to those who could have sympathized with Bin Laden. Also by this time, a lot of Europeans made their opinions clear they were not a fan of the US. I think lately that has changed in some ways, it seems like there’s more Europeans trying to do their own research and have stumbled upon information like this.
The thing is that Bin Laden aim was the West, but specifically targeted the US for being the remaining hegemony. The pain he brought upon our country can never have words for the loss we bore, no language could describe it. Yet through that pain, twice he managed to get the country to unify and get us through the suffering he imposed on us, the irony.

I think it's quite sad and possibly a little ironic that the people that dislike or hate the US the most is the western world itself. Countries not in the western world but still US allies have high favorability for the US. But Europe is much more likely to dislike the US despite getting the most benefit.

The great American boatlift should be shown. Our unity is better than teaching our European support. First show her why we are who we are. Start with the barbers. Then if you want to skip alot show pearl harbor. And then show the great boat lift.
There is a string naval tradition that is basically(based on anyone I've ever met including myself) to find a way to make water useful.
The problem is that transferred to another thing we(consider) we invented even though we revolutionized, and that's planes.
Being stuck a young nation we care very much about those two things. And we are not the type of people to ever give up until we see caskets.
It is why it's so concerning but not understandable, when you have detain powers start making concrete, known alliances it never will and hasn't ended well. The world knows America is by far the strongest, so for China to know it can't invade Taiwan but be willing to sir Russia(to their best ability), we have done this so often. The only difference the world whoever is on the opposing end has to deal with a tiger that will never sleep again, primarily because it can't and for securities purposes wouldn't even if it could.
