Brilliant. The best breakdown I’ve seen. And it makes PERFECT sense. At the very least it shows how to properly discern quality, sensible bunkai from the kata. Shame that this is not actually TAUGHT this “ basic way” (not for YEARS) in many dojos. What a complete waste of time, energy, and understanding. Thank you, Sensei, for sharing so much, so simply. Well done!
Yes, not for years, and often not ever. Thanks for your comment and I'm glad you find it of interest.
Dude, you are a badass! I love the breakdown of this stuff. It always looks obvious after you show the interpretation.. leaving out actually being able to execute them, which I cannot! Your videos inspire hope, which is greatly appreciated. 😊
Thank you. I am glad you liked the video.
Everybody sees saifa as a fluid and very soft kata while it's one of the brutal ones.
Nomen est omen ;)
I actually haven't heard that before (that "everybody sees saifa as a fluid and soft kata..."). It certainly is a kata that contains techniques to incapacitate.
Top!Thank you😊
You're welcome, and thanks for taking the time to comment.
Same technics can be used for shotokan kata heian sandan, thanks👌👌👌, OSS!
Absolutely
This looks like JuJutsu (probably Daito Ryu AkiJuJutsu?). Jesse Enkamp once said Karate is the first mixed martial art.
Or jujutsu looks like Okinawan karate?
@@GKCgoju Is there a consensus that Jujutsu influenced Karate or if Karate influenced Jujutsu or there is a common ancestor Art?
I don't know if there is a 'consensus' (we are talking about martial arts here after all 🤣). Historically however it is clear that Okinawa has been a prefecture of Japan for centuries and therefore there will have been significant cultural influence. We must recognize that the common karate styles of today are not even a century old, whereas jujutsu can be traced back much further. So I would say, we can surmise that karate is a practice born of various influences - most likely including jujutsu.
@@GKCgoju I should know better than to use consensus when talking about Martial Arts. Everybody does Kanku Dai differently or calls it Kushanku instead.
@@ValleyDragon I agree.
What! Match the attack NOT the kata😮
Does it make sense?
