You can also give the rmr another point for the fiber optic option of RMRs. Its actually what I have on my first rifle. A dual illuminated rmr with a rifle mount.
What plates are your running? I see brands like CH Precision Weapons but when it comes down to it wont just my standard Sig Sealing Plate do the job. Using anything other than that will make my rear iron sights useless ,not that I need them.
SRO on my OZ9c was getting abused by ejected brass - and that barrel with loaded indicator would literally gas out the SRO and also start to blacken the front of the sight... using titegroup hand loaded ammunition 🙄 the SRO now resides on my G17 MOS Gen5
Looking to buy a Walther pdp compact and wasn’t sure whether the SRO or the RMR was the better option. The larger glass area of the SRO is super appealing to me, as I feel it will be a pain to find the red dot on the RMR. Still not sure which one I’ll end up buying
I had an RMR must of been an older one. Oil would get into the battery compartment and when it did it would stop working. I like the top side battery on the SRO better.
I really think you should add "For a Carry Gun" to the title. I agree with most of what you say including the engineering, quality, features and durability or Trijicon (I have run both the SRO and RMR on similar pistols as well - in addition to DPP, Vortex, Holosun and others to be fair). If it is not a carry weapon it changes the scoring weights. Example: the SRO is hands down winner if on a Full frame Glock style pistol for competition style shooing rather than carry . The RMR is winner hands down for its carry ability. The pistol platform also changes the scoring. If you run an SRO on a Staccato P - the SRO hood overhangs the ejector port (is this a problem?). Platform also dictates if you need a sealing plate under the RMR.
If you take a white pen and make two lines on the back side of the housing on both sides of the elevation adjustment dial, that’s a pretty good rear post. And using the front sight post it was relatively accurate up to ten yards. It wasn’t perfect and I wasn’t shooting ultra tight groups but it worked. Honestly i might consider carving those notches into the housing.
As others have stated SRO for target and competition. And RMR for duty and defense use . All your bases are covered. Agree with you 100% on trijicon brand.
I have also had multiple failures on multiple holosuns. I just ordered an RMR, and I hope that it is more reliable. What problems did you have? Mine shut off randomly and the shake awake was not reliable.
@@defconcreative Interesting. It's good to know that other people are experiencing the same problems, there are a lot of big youtubers vouching for these optics and they had me thinking that I was the unluckiest guy on the planet.

I do wish Trijicon would innovate more and spend some of that lawsuit money they won from Holosun to make a better and more competitive option. Holosun is putting out products that are hard to ignore for us guys that’ll never see a battlefield or real life daily use. It’s not just about making the “most reliable” optic anymore, as many people will go with Holosun over RMR just due to the huge price gap with little noticeable difference in their perceived reliability . Because now, with the ACSS reticle (that I’m guessing is patented) I really think Trijicon is going to lose a ton of money to Holosun from first time users, that reticle is insanely intuitive, unlike the ONLY offering from Trijicon. So Trijicon RMR is 600$+ and you have to remove it off the gun to swap batteries and re zero ! But 250$ Holosun 407c/507c which have great reviews has side tray to swap batteries and not have remove the red dot allowing you to keep the zero on the dot & the SRO is 650$+ fixed the battery problem but it has flickering issues because the battery cover doesn’t tighten enough to make contact with the battery so to make it work u have to stick of foil in between it to make it function properly. Lol idk seems like trijicon is just over hyped do to the military contracts.
Trying to wrap my head around how these trijicons are cited by you as being super reliable, but there are flicker and battery contact issues that require jamming tin foil in the battery housing. Not trying to crap on your video. I just don't get it. I've been running a 507k for a couple years and had zero issues like this.
Yeah... it sounded weird when I said it but went with it.... I was really referring their civilian market share. Trijicon and Holosun currently own the MRDS market... aim point isn’t even a blip
FWIW it's "coup d'état" or "coup d'Etat"... Now that we got this out of the way: materials / workmanship on the SRO are sub-par. The SRO looks like it was made by Harley workers between 2 strikes back in the 80's. Buttons on both the RMR and SRO suck. And once every 5 or 6 units you will get one that's really hard of earing with buttons that can only be sledgehammer activated. I used to run 8 RMRs. I dumped them all on eBay back in 2020. Despite their flaws I still run a couple of SROs on 34 length slides.
I'm saving for my first trijicon sight lol specifically the SRO. I'm a poor lol I got almost all holosuns but I heard a lot of good stuff about trijicon.
Brand new SRO on a Atlas ESP. 3rd shot dot went out. changed the battery, nothing changed. Removed form gun, sight them turned back on. Put it back on gun, and it quit working again. If I tighten the left attachment screw >2Nm the sight takes a shit. Say what you want about DPP, Have had two for 3 years now without an issue. My first SRO took a shit 3 shots in. All companies make mistakes. SRO is on its way back to Trijicon as of today.
While you were talking about the battery issues and how the tray gets marred up easy, all I was thinking was, then why buy this sight when it’s almost the price of a gun? I’m staying with the Holosun ACSS. 👍
The video makes a lot of + points. I'd lean towards a SRO on a duty, vehicle defense 🚙, home defense 🏡. The Aimpoint ARCO 1 has many good features but I can wait for a compact 2.0 or advanced rear optic.
Funny how you say RMR is the winner but the video shows about 50% accuracy and close to 100% accuracy with the SRO. Sure it’s less durable but accuracy is king.
Accuracy comes from fundamentals the right fundamentals and the durability makes a huge difference because if you are not just a range guy and end up in battle and SRO is crushed well there goes any accuracy. RMR on a battle tested Staccato P Duo winner winner
Holosun is garbage! I bought 507c ACSS Vulcan GR and it looked really good. So I mount it and I didn't have to put in the battery because it was already factory installed. So I turn it on and shot 9 rounds off before the battery tray, battery, and screw vaporized. I couldn't find even a speck of it left. So I'm like no big deal it's their fault not user error so I'm certain that I'm going to make a simple phone call and explain the factory defect and they'll rush me out a replacement part, screw, and battery. Bro they don't even answer their phone or anything. I filled out the form on their website and haven't got a response in two days. So I just put in an Amazon return and I'm waiting on my return label. I'm going to spend the money next time and ordering the RMR type 2 instead.
Noe of them. To damn expensive. I won’t even look at them when i see them online or in the store. It’s for the rich and or for the debtors. My opinion.
Have used RMR's and DPP on several different Glock builds and I prefer the RMR hands down. I used a DPP on a range toy 10.5 AR and it was awesome in that capacity. My current EDC Glocks run RMR 06. Edit: I'm going to run an ACRO as soon as my inbound G34.5 arrives and I'm really looking forward to it!!!
The only thing the RMR has over the SRO is extreme durability , although the SRO is no slouch in that category, I know 2 guys who carry the SRO on their duty guns over a year with no issues. ( I have them both) Otherwise, IMHO the SRO is far superior when it comes to the shooting experience- much bigger window for immediate and easy acquisition, clearer red dot, and a more clear window (less tinting) I shoot consistently more accurate and to further distances with the SRO.

Nice vid 👍 what is your opinion about the Holosun 509T?
I hate holosuns but I’m being told by a lotta people that they fixed the issues I had 2 years ago so I am prolly gonna try one again
@@defconcreative thx bro, go try the 509T or 512C imo 2 great rd‘s 😉
Lil bro out there plinking his heart out....
Dude is a chip off the old block...
Trying to wrap my head around how these trijicons are cited by you as being super reliable, but there are flicker and battery contact issues that require jamming tin foil in the battery housing. Not trying to crap on your video. I just don't get it. I've been running a 507k for a couple years and had zero issues like this.
great review
The Popo use the RMR for durability, the shooters use the SRO for great vision.
Zzzactly
Is it for duty use!?
That “depends”
Great review! But did you just call Aimpoint a small company? Lol
Yeah... it sounded weird when I said it but went with it.... I was really referring their civilian market share. Trijicon and Holosun currently own the MRDS market... aim point isn’t even a blip
my sro came with the original trijicon tool for removing the battery cover
The sro is good and bad…. I have them on all my guns but be ready to use the warranty
Exactly… now you get to test the warranty 🤣😂
While you were talking about the battery issues and how the tray gets marred up easy, all I was thinking was, then why buy this sight when it’s almost the price of a gun? I’m staying with the Holosun ACSS. 👍
I want to try the new primary/holosun but I’ve been burned on holosun pistol dots 2x before so I have a hard time pulling the trigger
The SRO has the best sight picture, hands down.
SRO seems a little big for a carry gun.
It’s not really... I carry a 5” 2011 with SRO on it everyday.
The video makes a lot of + points. I'd lean towards a SRO on a duty, vehicle defense 🚙, home defense 🏡. The Aimpoint ARCO 1 has many good features but I can wait for a compact 2.0 or advanced rear optic.
@@defconcreative Took your advice went and bought the SRO 2.5 yesterday. Gonna put it on my OZ9 when it gets here, I'll let you know how it goes.
Funny how you say RMR is the winner but the video shows about 50% accuracy and close to 100% accuracy with the SRO. Sure it’s less durable but accuracy is king.
Just happened to be the shots I used... no noticeable difference in accuracy between the 2 dots.
Accuracy will be exactly the same ...as long as dots are the same size.....gear doesn't make it shoot itself hahahaha
Agree
Accuracy comes from fundamentals the right fundamentals and the durability makes a huge difference because if you are not just a range guy and end up in battle and SRO is crushed well there goes any accuracy. RMR on a battle tested Staccato P Duo winner winner
No real reason to put rear sight in front. Much ado about nothing.
If you block the front of a red dot and keep. It’s eyes open, your brain will merge the pictures and you will get good hits
I see you stepped up your intro game I like it!
Hey it’s just gonna get better and better! And probably a little worse... and then better
I can't decide...
Noe of them. To damn expensive. I won’t even look at them when i see them online or in the store. It’s for the rich and or for the debtors. My opinion.
I run trijicon acogs and i have one rmr, but i do think holosun dots are better for me. Ill take a 508t holo over a rmr and im a trijicon fanboy lol
Dude 9:55 person verses target is a screw up.
Yes sro is so hard to find on gunbroker they got some but want like $700-$800 😵 got my sro new blessed lucky for $250 yes and its real...
Yep they are getting good markup!
Havent used the acro but I know sealed emitters will be the next “it” thing
Thanks you helped me out.
I might have to work with these company’s in the future so I’m not gonna judge to hard / I’ll never use holosun optics on a pistol lol
Honestly I carry an sro for all those reasons even though I think the RMR is objectively “better”
I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two. Would you say to just go ahead and get the SRO?
@@defconcreative interesting I think the SRO is objectively better minus the stronger frame
On the RMR ..,.
To be honest, they’re both great though
@@shroey20 SRO is the way to go right now u should be able to get some of those cyber Monday deals….
But yeah, I have a lot to compare to the SRO keeps ranking on top
@@volkssturm9694do they fot the sxact same footprint?
Man i used to really like you! Now you’ve gone and really screwed me up! I was confidently going to put a Holosun on my Nighthawk TRS because I can’t run the SRO because of the long hood like you said but now I don’t know what I’m gonna do! 😢 I didn’t want to run the rmr because of the battery and I also feel like it’s old technology as they haven’t done anything to improve on the design, like the newest one looks and acts like the very first one they’ve made. All kidding aside great info I appreciate it and back to the drawing board for me.
Honestly I’ve heard really good things about the new Holosuns but The only 2 I have had were both crap... Hurt people hurt people
But a holosun on a Nighthawk is like good years on a Ferrari...
@@defconcreative haha i just choked on my coffee! I would love to run the mailbox (aimpoint) if it had better battery life.
DEFCON creative I have a hard time putting a chinese dot on a 2 thousand dollar plus handgun. That’s like putting an olight on one
Agreed... expensive guns get surefire and Trijicons only... but that new inforce wml looks kinda cool 🤷🏼♂️
Gbrs group dj shipley and other devgru guys have a cool way of aiming when ur red dot is blocked they use the back plate of the slide as an aiming point of either their p320 or glock watever they were using at that time, im not good at explaining it but watch video of them teaching feildcraft survival and you'll get it
Its called the dpp. People are so stuck on rmr s its sad. Dpp has all the featurues ull ever need while having a protective layer like an eotech. Ive owned many different red dots. And holosuns come in second. Leuopolds delta point pro is the king in my opinion
Why do I feel like this guy is against everything I stand for the DPP and holosun.
I have recently released my hatred of Holosun… but DPPs still suck balls
thankfully Holosun has become top-tier at this stage. Trijicon is falling behind today.
Yes, aimpoint, that “random little optic company”
When I made this, the ACRO 1 wasn’t really a popular optic, but I think with the changes to the ACRO 2 we may see aimpoint start to become a name in the pistol dot community..
@@defconcreative I have the acro 1 and love it, just hate the battery life. Trying to get my hands on the 2 since they fixed that problem.
Honestly the 509t is a killer option for a fully enclosed emitter…. I am having a tough time seeing the ACRO 2 becoming a big hit unless it gets a bunch of high profile military contracts…. Then everyone will want it for LARPing reasons
This seemed a little biased 😂
i'd be curious to know what failures you've had with the Holosun pistol reddots. I agree I love the RMR but would like to know your issues with Holosun.
Thanks, great video BTW
Gracias... and they would just straight up quit on me 20-30 rounds in... No reason... just shut off. Would replace the battery and it would happen again
@@defconcreative I had that happening on a 510c. You may have overtightened the battery tray, pushes it past the contact leads. Try loosening the screws 1/4 to 1//2 turn.
@@deangullberry5148 or just stick to trijicon.
@@talisikid1618 why? Holosun has better battery life, better reticle, bigger window, and I don't have to worry about water getting into battery, or having to re-zero every time I change the battery.
There’s away to change your RMR battery without losing your Zero.
how?
@@ayjmedia Mark each screw with a paint pen, count how many turns each was tightened don’t mix the 2 screws up change battery and put the screws back in the same hole and tighten to the same place use lock Tite semi perm!
Remember screws must be tightened back exactly to the same place
I call them the R m far and SR no after hearing those prices lol
The holosun 509t I feel like is superior
U must of had bad holosuns?🤔 mine is a killer... But yes love my rmr and sro.. I want the 508t hollosun
2 bad ones... it was 2 years ago but I’m still hurt by it
@@defconcreative i dont blame you
I am not going to be a jerk about...trashes all the others while hyping Trijicon lol
