[TAS] [Outdated] Majora's Mask 100% (WIP - Cycle 1 & 2)

- Finally, I did it.
50 seconds has been saved compared to the previous run. Some parts are copy-paste some other had been entirely redone.
It tooks me about 6 month to fix "the mistake" of doing each cycle on separate file but it wasn't a so bad idea as I'm more satisfied of this run :p
Hope you enjoy :)
Hi anyone who's reading this.
Juste to say... sorry for not giving any update but the reality is that I had no time for working on this (and for many other projet in my life).
I don't know if I'll be able to keep working on this one day.... :(
Thank you for making this. Even if you don't return to it, I'm still grateful you put as much effort in as you did. I love TAS 100% runs and this was the only one I could find for MM, so thank you.
Would love to see it finished some day. I search for an MM 100% TAS every few months. Thanks for your hard work and here's hoping you can complete it some day...
If you make a discord others can help and lend support
@@tjprocks4723 You can probaly find something like this on tasvideos.org (here's the post: tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=267)
And certainly over here: zelda.speedrun.com/discords (The "Zelda Science" one contains tons of stuff)
wow that was an intense last day haha. can't wait for the finished product!
Dude I can't wait for this tas to be finished, I wish for some MM 100% for a long time and now with so many cutscene skip glitches this game is so broken.
Hope you finish it!
Nice TAS. It was fun actually finding a fairly-recent mm TAS on youtube. I think there are a couple of ways you could have saved some time though. For example at parts where you put on a mask, you always want to hold a direction to skip having an idle animation. Also when you jumpslash, if you spin the control stick around it will cancel an animation, also saving time. There are probably more minute details, but it was still a great TAS. I will never have the patience to do something like this.
The clock town music is what they play on an endless loop to break prisoners of war
Je suis tombé sur toi par hasard en regardant des vidéos de l'UD3 et je vois des WIP d'un tas d'un zelda à 100%... Je suis joie intérieurement !
+ßlue_Link_34 Ca me fait plaisir :)
Can't wait to see the finished product man.
I noticed a lot of inverted camera. I am able to get it consistently,
even with the same inputs when working on a minor TAS. However, I can
always do it fine real time.
Hâthor, I would love to see a completed 100% TAS! Do you think you will ever be able to do so? This video is amazing and I wish I could see more! :)
Hello !
I'm glad to see you enjoyed it :)
Unfortunatly, I didn't have enough free time anymore to work on such a huge project.
Plus, lots of new tricks have been found since I made this and also, emulators have been improved. So, strating an brand new TAS from scratch is the only viable choice.
I really hope someone will do this one day! I'm also pretty sure a thread exists on tasvideos.org forum; you should have a look there ;)
i love this TAS, keep up the good work :D
Thanks :)
You should make a discord for this and if anyone is interested in helping, wants to see the progress, or wants to give support/motivation they could join!
so.. if the masks are of people.. beings of recent passing..
Goron and Zoran? Zorran masks are named.. but not the first, who can it b?
GOD, I have not finish watching and it's awesome. Thanks you a lot !!!
+MajoubJohnson10 I'm surprised you don't making *HELL RAIN OF ARROW* on the Gorman Brother ! It's was too previsible ?
+MajoubJohnson10 Gorman Brother are only vulnerable when they yell "Woooooooo"; So a hell rain of arrow would be useless.
So I decided to do it that way (I don't move the stick and shot arrow at last available frame)
Hâthor Attend, t'es français ?
Pire! Je suis Belge :p
Hâthor Cool. Ces temps-ci, je me demande combien y'a de geek Europe (Beaucoup en France, c'est certain, mais je ais pas pour les autres !!)
Very awesome stuff. BUT, could you not have avoided an additional trip to Ikana at the end, by playing slowing down time earlier, and grabbing the HP/Gibdo mask on your first trip?
+Phil Hutchinson Thanks :)
Yes, we could BUT... :D
Active all 10 owls is a part of the 100% (because you keep it when you play the song of time and come back to the 1st day). Plus, as soon as I activate Stone Tower's owl, it brakes the Hidden Owl Glitch. So, if I do all the stuff in Ikana, I'll be stuck after Dampé (or it will take ages to go back to Clock Town).
That was a good remark though :)
nice 4th wall break Deku link.
where is the sequel to this video? >:(
Day 2 Deku Playground.
Dafuq was that, and is it possible on 3DS?
While you're switching mask, platform's keep moving for 1 frame but rupees don't.
After x switch (8 if I remember well), platforms will be far enough from rupees and they'll fall to the ground.
I never tested it on 3DS; easy to do. Just mash mask buttons :D
So when is the rest coming out
Quite hard to say :)
My motivation is back, that's a good point :p
But when I see what has been recently found (the route for JP version and the Goron missile for example), I really wonder if I either keep going on with this version (which is already obsolete) or if I start back from scratch.
Wait & see :)
PS: I'm happy to see that people are still interested in this version
Well whatever you choose to do I can't wait to see! This was great! Keep it up!
Hâthor I'm also super excited. I've been wanting a Majora's Mask 100% TAS ever since the 100% OoT was finished. It would be kind of a shame to start from scratch because you already put so much work into this run. Whatever you decide to do, I really look forward to it. Do you think you'll submit it to tas videos.org?
Wow, thank you. It really touch me :')
For sure, I'll submit! I've always wanted to! :)
How far are you now?
Any update for this TAS? It been a year.
I need the frame advance feature IRL Q_Q (or even the inverted song of time will be already cool).
So I'm really sorry but I didn't have any update yet :'(
Hâthor Aw bummer.
Is this still the record? Would love to see faster haha.
Definitely, no! hahah :D
Lots of new strat and tricks had been found (making this completely obsolete).
WR is now 4h35 (by EnNopp) on JP version; (5h05 by Amateseru for US version).
I encourage you to watch both of those run as route are version-exclusive :)
(You can check it out on speedrun.com)
@@Hathor2903 cool! Would live to see a tas version as well.
Isn't one of the points of a TAS that you don't have to pause buffer?
I assume you're talking about the pause buffer to get to clocktown the first time. It isn't the same kind of buffer, here it is a special trick. When you climb the stairs the mask salesman cutscene needs at least two frames to be triggered, so if you pause buffer to move only one frame at a time you could get to clocktown without talking to the mask salesman first, and since it's part of the trick, the TAS has nothing to do with doing a pause buffer or not. It really is about the time you need not a precise angle/pixel.
I think I explained quite well but if you don't understand (or if you were talking about something else that I didn't see) answer me.
That answered my question perfectly :) Thank you!
release full version or we'll riot in the comment section!
Ahahah :D
As I mentionned below:
"My motivation is back, that's a good point :p
But when I see what has been recently found (the route for JP version and the Goron missile for example), I really wonder if I either keep going on with this version (which is already obsolete) or if I start back from scratch."
I really love this game but this is a so huge work!
Thanks for watching anyway and also for your "support" :p
ye boiiii! love it and waiting anxiously :) good job matey
What emulator do you use for this? :o
+Winning117 The emulator is BizHawk. It's an open source emulator maintained by TASVideo.org community. You can find more informations about it here: tasvideos.org/BizHawk.html
+Hâthor Awesome, thanks! How long does it take to create a TAS? Like for every minute in-game how long do you have to work on the "code"?
+Winning117 It vary a lot. For Exemple, the trick at about 1:23:49 (jumping on the lamp) tooks me about 12 hours as everything is really precise (espacially the inputs).
I made the part between Dampé's bottle and Dodongo's HP in around 3 hours.
If you want to start TASing, you should try with a 2D game (Mario World or Sonic); it's far more simple than a 3D game :)
+Hâthor Holy crap!! Awesome work :) Thanks for the info, I might look into it
I can help contribute to this TAS by routing if you make TAS videos of individual areas under different restrictions and I gain more information about the game. One place to upload TASses of individual areas and ad information about the game is in the website zeldaspeedruns.wikia.com/wiki/Zelda_Speed_Runs_Wiki. I'm also willing to help make a 3rd Any% TAS now that a lot of new tricks were discovered.
Thanks for the link :)
For sure, you can help me. I think a TAS is in fact a common effort of everyone who love a game.
I don't work on the Any% (and I don't think I'll have time for it); but Fox has already made some really cool stuff
Do you have some way to send me all those TAS videos you made in preparation for this video without emailing them to me because I'm not sure it's a good idea for me to post my email address publically or some account I can tell you my email address on that's not visible to the public? I don't know if I will be able to open a Mupen 64 file before I download Mupen 64. Alternatively, it might be better you you to create an account on Zelda Speed Runs Wiki and upload them there and for all my discussions with you about how to make the TAS on that website. I already have an account on that website with the username Blackbombchu.
You can find everthing here: github.com/Hathor86/TASMajora
I use BizHawk so it won't work with Mupen64 :/
I'm quite busy IRL for the moment but I promise I'll have a look on ZSR Wiki :)
Just created an account on Zelda Speed Runs Wiki
I hope I'll have more time for this soon... Btw, is there a way to contact you blackbombchu? :)
Yes, I created a Wikia account as Blackbombchu as well. You can write on my talk page there.
waaaaaay too many pause buffers when exiting the clock tower. Human players do better.
lol.. i never liked this Fairy for some reason.
