- Iggor Cavalera rocketed to fame as one of the most influential drummers from the mid 80´s Thrash Metal scene, when his aggressive, energetic playing on the first SEPULTURA records hit the taste of fans worldwide, leading the young band from Brazil to becoming pioneers of this genre.
Following the band´s raw energetic first releases, their follow-up records “Chaos A.D” and “Roots” revealed Iggor´s unique tribal rhythms, that marked his drumming style and contributed to the band´s worldwide success, making SEPULTURA one of the era´s few bands that managed to increase its worldwide fan base unimpressed by the many trends that came and went around them.
While to date Iggor stays true to his thrash roots as the drummer in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY he has also opened up to new musical directions. Currently he is one half of the DJ duo MIXHELL, a project he founded with his wife Laima Leyton, as well as being 1 of 3 live drummers in SOULWAX, the Belgian dancefloor kings known for their acclaimed live shows.
For his various projects, Iggor has decided to make Yamaha Drums his instrument of choice.
“One of my first drum kits was a Yamaha, back in the 80´s and it was one of my favourite sounds. So from that moment, I always had a special place for Yamaha” remembers Iggor in our interview.
In search of a versatile kit that suits his various projects, Iggor will make the Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple kit his sound for future shows and recordings. Solid manufacturing, warm & punchy tone with lots of sustain, it delivers the natural drum sound Iggor has been searching for: “For me that´s what it is about. I don´t wanna have to push tons of effects to make my drums sound good.”
With a Pink Champagne Sparkle finish and his lowrider-inspired set-up, this kit will also be an optical eyecatcher on stages worldwide.

Iggor is my favorite metal drummer ever. l learned to play metal by ear copying him. With Innerself l learned how a simple guitar riff can be turned into a sick metal song if you can find the right drum line
definately! Many riffs are boring and repetitious without the changes and arrangements a good drummer can add

The man behind epic drum openings in "Intro", Refuse/Resist, and Territory... not to mention the bridge fill in Slave New World, and too many others to mention. This guy inspired millions with seemilngly simple yet catchy patterns, especially those dissafected kids in the so called third world countries back then.

the guy probably influenced as much drummers as ulrich or lambardo in the metal genre . his work on arise is really great . in the 90s there was still 2 bands representing metal Sepultura and Pantera
Both Ulrich and Lambardo are older than Igor and both have recorded music before him. Lambardo is an innovator, if anything. Just an FYI...

O cara é técnico sim , mas não virtuoso ...ele já teve a época dele ; e é natural a geração nova vim passando fácil nas técnicas .
Eu toco bateria sei que não é fácil ser autodidata e com isso vc se torna limitado . Diferente de músicos que estudam 8 a 12 horas por dia e domina praticamente todos os fundamentos e ritimos .
Iggor merece o máximo respeito , mas infelizmente este respeito vem da maioria lá de fora porque para os brasileiros , música tem que ser competição.
Ele merece respeito! Mas também tem que manter a pegada!! Foi a pegada dele no sepultura que fez o que ele é hoje. Digo isso porquê, por exemplo, o Dave lombardo mantém a mesma pegada tocando exatamente igual durante decadas, surpreendendo todos os fãs!! O Vinny Paul também manteve a pegada até o fim da vida!! Já o Igor tá preguiçoso. Pelo menos é o que eu vejo no CC!

O tempo passa ; a idade chega e o físico muda ; os bateristas citados por você , estão de parabéns e tiveram méritos em continuar com a mesma pegada , mas , cada um é cada um e tem sua vida .
O Iggor ao meu ver , está mais sofrendo preconceito por ter engordado .
Essas levadas dele no vídeo , não ficaram ruins ; apenas o áudio não foi equalizado ...de resto , o cara não precisa provar nada pra ninguém .

Best drum company I ever bought from. No regrets especially for that price and quality of sound. Blows most other brands out of the water, DW who? They even make Remos sound good, can't argue with that logic.

O Igor foi muito foda!! Mas parece que tá tocando com preguiça. Deve estar na zona de conforto. O que ele fez pro metal não tem preço, mas tem que manter a pegada!! O Dave lombardo e o Vinny Paul (RIP) tocam pra caralho e estão na estrada há décadas!!

Não viajei muito nesse setup com surdo no rack... Mas é compreensível, Igor usa viradas curtas, e não prolongadas, pra ter uma porrada de tambor... Sem falar que, para Igor, qualquer setup dá conta do recado, o cara é monstro demais!
