    I've never submitted any comics to get graded or even held a slabbed book so I don't have much say in terms of sturdiness of the cases, but from what I've seen in a lot of youtube videos CBCS has the most, to me, appealing cases and labels. I heard that CBCS doesn't have the white box around the grade because they want you to focus on the book and then the grade, which I think its 100% right. So for that if I were to submit comics I'd choose CBCS. Their price, turnaround times, and just overall quality of the product to me seem the best. This video was really helpful, keep up the great work!

    Hello mate, first time to see your show and just subscribed, OK, first I really don't trust CGC, rather it is pricing, grading (especially when resubmitting and you get a different grade), etc. But the best info from CBCS is that they state that their labels are to promote the comic book and not have their label be the focal point like CGC. I only use CBCS now and love it, if I were to list for sale, I would put the same price as CGC and so far no complaints. Thank you for your show and look forward to the next one.

    I agree 100% about the cases. I’ve had numerous slabs come back from both CBCS and CGC and I’ve never had a problem with CBCS. There is a better clarity and they just feel sturdier. I’ve said it numerous times but if they could get a custom label from DC or any of the independent companies, it would be a game changer for CBCS.

    • @ComicsRediscovered
      @ComicsRediscovered  2 года назад +2

    What CGC has over CBCS is custom labels. That's it. Yes, their case is very nice and I have no doubt that it protects my books. The reality, though, is that CBCS has a better case. Another facet of the debate could also come down to overall quality of service between the two companies (I've never dealt with PGX - full disclosure). I could go into how I have 25 returns (lint in the capsule, scuffed cases, label errors, cracked cases) for CGC this year and it's only the middle of February, and none whatsoever for CBCS. But I won't...

    • @ComicsRediscovered
      @ComicsRediscovered  2 года назад

      haha man that sucks! thats a lot! Their quality definitely took a hit with the influx of submissions. I had a cracked cases as well (See the unboxing video), but I also had scratches from CBCS. I think the customer service from all 3 companies is mostly terrible ( theres a video for this too)

    I sent to PGX once as a test. I had 2 books in 9.6. Both needed a press and minor dry clean to achieve 9.8. Neither got it despite paying for it as the minor indents were still there. Both slabs were littered with paper detachments, both were squint in the slab and one had a piece of black debris freely moving around the slab. The last slap in the face was that the shipping on the invoice was way more expensive than on the box. The box what they actually paid at the post office. I was overcharged $29. Needless to say customer service never replied to any of my 8 emails over 2 months. The company is a shambles. Also, their slab has ZERO security features, its a glorified picture frame. You will notice there is a male/female peg on each corner of the slab. This is to close it together. And thats it. You can lift the slab open. At most run your fingernail along the seam to seperate and lift it off. Makes the grade UTTERLY redundant when you can access the book. Lastly there is a Profesor in the comicbook community from Washington. He did UV tests and found none of the 'big 3' offer any UV protection. So dont keep your slabs in direct light!!

    I prefer the look of the CBCS labels over CGC. To me, the CBCS labels have a more modern look and I like that they tried something different by not putting the grade in a "window". I look at the custom labels from CGC as a money grab and they are designed poorly. Take a look at the Fantastic Four label, you can't even see the Thing because the hologram sticker is covering him up.

    I've been leaning towards CBCS for a while now, and this series has convinced me to go with them for books in my PC.
    I'm still kind of on the fence for books I plan to sell. I've got a Tomb of Dracula 10 that I'll probably end up going with CGC. Also have a Hulk 181 without the MVS - I'll have to check, but I don't think CBCS does green labels? That may make the book more appealing for a buyer despite not being a CGC book.
    Thanks again for the analysis!

    • @davidnix1590
      @davidnix1590 2 года назад

      Well, after having looked - CBCS doesn't do qualified grading, so the best the Hulk 181 would get is a 1.5. It was a CGC green label 6.0 before cleaning and pressing, so I'll resubmit to them to get the higher qualified grade.

    The thing I find missing is wait times back from grading companies.... If I have a signature series book from before 1975 I may wait a year to get it back from CGC... The cost of grading also is a significant factor in that the slab can cost more than the value of the comic...The cost of the grading companies is a huge factor for me especially with older books. With CGC the price of grading can be a percentage value of the overall book... Can one afford to have an Amazing fantasy 15 graded by CGC at 3% of market value ($30,000 to grade)? Comics prices go up and and down... If you have money or capital in comics that are away for grading there is a huge opportunity cost...I like graded comics but the wait time of months and quality control of handling make it prohibitive ...Also, the game of if you get a comic that is a 9.4 re-sumbit it and get back a 9.8.... just resub until you get the grade you want... I am am not talking about PBX in this case as for one highlight of them there turnaround times are great if you are really just looking for the extra protection of your book ( really is not the point of a Slab is a super bag and board with a person's opinion on that day)

      CBCS is by far the best bang for the buck. They have the most accurate and consistent grading of the 3 companies. Their cases are sturdier and clearer, and their pricing and turnaround times are better than CGC.
      Stay away from PGX if you ever plan on selling your comics. That company is the kiss of death for resale as their grading is not nearly as accurate as the other two, and they have some shady history.

    This video is more a review of the quality of the cases and design, not the quality of the grading service of each company. I own slabs from all three and while I agree the CBCS cases are better the grading consistency at CGC is unrivaled which is reflected in the prices of CGC books.

      you are correct, there is a separate video regarding the other elements like grading and customer service. Thanks for watching and commenting

    Just discovered your channel. Like your videos, but man the music you use in your videos is horrid!
    As for the three cases, I have preferred CBCS over CGC for quite some time. I've never seen a PGX case irl, so have no opinion on them. I also prefer the CBCS label over CGC.

    I have both cgc and cbcs but overall i buy cgc more. the first ever cbcs book i got had a air pocket somewhere along the seal so if u squeezed it a bit air would come in and out. Probably a rare case since i haven't had the issue anymore. Pgx labels just throw me off cgc is my pick.

      its a hard split, they're both really good from what I've experienced. Everyone has had at least one issue with one company or the other haha thanks for commenting!

    The CGC number stands out too much and distracts form the beauty of the Comic.

      Thanks for commenting! I like the cbcs number more myself but a lot of people seem to love the cgc number box I dunno why it's such a beloved feature

    all 3 designs looks like made by a 7 year old kid, I don't get it, are too basic in bad way, I myself can do better (I'm a designer), those companies have a lot money to hire a good designer.
    the main goal of those labels should be not distracting, CBCS looks less distracting, but God that typography and awful blue is too much.
