I got mine (Cobra Edition) this past Saturday. I doubt if I'll ever actually crack the physical books open. So glad they gave us the PDF files for them so that I can read them that way, while keeping the boxed set pristine.
THOSE ARE GORGEOUS! (I haven't cracked mine, yet.) And you know I am in 100% agreement with you on the value and importance of this GI Joe series. So good.
Have most of the original floppies of the first 100 issues. Don't have much nostalgia except for Silent Interlude and Snake-eyes' origin issues. But these collections are gorgeous. And I appreciate the $64 newspaper print collection too. Affordable way for people to own.
Larry Hama's GIJoe run is in my top 10 runs. Especially up to around issue 115. There are still some gems in the later part of the run, but the newer toys make it much harder for the suspension of disbelief. The toys were less cool.
@CultPOPGO With the exception of the Declassified miniseries, I haven't enjoyed most of Hama's post Marvel GIJoe work. (Well, actually, a few of the comic pack comics he wrote were good. I might need to reread some of those.)
They look awesome. A little bit out of my price range, though. Of course I said that about the Absolute Sandman books and ended up with all four of those. Having a really nice quality hard-copy of classic material is never a bad purchase.
That’s the question! I wasn’t able to order the individual HC volumes 2-4. Not sure if they’ll be out eventually? Seems weird to just skip them entirely
According to the kickstarter campaign, the hardcover versions of volumes 2 thru 4 are exclusive to the full box set. Only volume 1 was provided by itself (thru the campaign). They will be releasing softcover volumes, but the hardcovers won't be getting individual releases later.
The trading cards are so sweet. I made sure that I got all 37 of them - both the Joe and Cobra sets, Hama & Zap pack, and the single Storm Shadow card. Debating on how I want to store them now (with semi rigid sleeves or the more expensive and bulkier magnetic one touch option).
You'll have to go through retailers that bought them (they'll likely have the fairest prices), or on the secondary (scalper) market (currently going for $500+ on Ebay...ouch). Thankfully got mine through the Kickstarter campaign (paid $375 for the set, trading cards, Cobra pin, special edition reprints, etc.).
@@therealunclassified yeah the price is pretty ridiculous. I just couldn’t pass it up, it was the series that got me reading, and I sold off all my IDW collections like a jackass
@CultPOPGO yeah 15 years ago I would've grabbed these with no thought involved. Now, with collecting mondo motu, s7 ultimates, classifieds, marvel legends. It's just to much. My mondo and classified leave me broke lol. Plus s7 playsets and vehicles.
Wow so that might be like $700 or $800 Canadian dollars and I don’t get it. Or might end up being double in price. So much for the dollar being around 70% seems like our dollar is only worth 50%. lol 😂 just pathetic
@ @ because retailers were able to buy a limited amount to sell at their brick and mortar stores. Ollies gets overstock from distributors, not retailers
@@Agamemnon5174Yeah, this wasn't a mass market production. Only what was ordered through the Kickstarter (and maybe a handful extra copies) were made. Although, I suppose Ollie's could have possibly ordered some for themselves (good luck with that).
@@Agamemnon5174if anything, it would only be the cheaper (softcover) compendium. And that probably wouldn't be for some time. These hardcover compendiums are a limited run (based on what was ordered through the campaign). It'd be like finding one of the Haslab HISS Tanks at Ollie's. You're dreaming if you think that you'll find these cheaper anywhere. Maybe in a few years, someone may sell their used copies, but (unless they're desperate for money or they didn't take care of it) I doubt the price is gonna drop much.
Got this for Christmas. Very high quality. Best gift ever
That’s a helluva X-Mas gift! Congrats!
hi, how much did it cost?.....thank you,.....and where did you get them at?,............marius(punk rules).
@@mariusbabii it was $350+ on Kickstarter I think? It was awhile ago!
I have not received mine yet, nor have I received a shipping notice

This will be my first time reading it and I honestly cannot wait. Did you see that Marvel is also reprinting Hama's The 'Nam next year?
@@noelbartocci3500 I DID NOT. I'll be doing that, too...
They look absolutely stunning, wish I could get my hands on them

Yeah that compendium is fantastic. Though my faves were still those nice IDW reprint TPBs. I wouldn’t mind if image reprinted it like that
Amazing set, i am just hoping and waiting for skybound/image to announce the Transformers Kickstarter next year. But this GIJOE box set is beautiful
Whej I got mine in the mail I was like Holy crap its heavy. Felt like a 50lb box lol
Mines coming on Tuesday. Excited.
Oooo nice! Enjoy! Do you have a favorite issue?
@ 109 always comes to mind. They killed off half a dozen Joes in the issue. Including Quick Kick and Doc.
@ ooof is that the scene where the joes are gunned down in a pit?
