I been introduced to the great Coy when he co host New Rockstars The Breakroom. Now I am loving the channel. It’s just fun, relaxing, entertaining, and just PURE joy!! I started watching in 2024, and I can’t wait what’s in store for this channel, for you in 2025.
Coy my Boy! You are going to hit 100k before the end of 2025 I believe in it, so proud of how your channel and Platform has grown since I first discovered you when you were on Collider
Also HUGE Appreciation for you coy! I respect you and what you do so very much for bringing back comica into my life and also just being a joyous and nice guy to love to listen to! Great year for ya and i can't wait for what the next year has in store
I've watched kristian and john campea since i was a kid growing up loving comic book movies and shows. I found you through the show with kristian and you got me addicted to comics man! I can't stop buying them 😂 love your show and thanks for all you do!
Ultimate Spider-Man is what got me reading monthly this year. I’ve loved it, I love telling my girlfriend about what’s been happening. Sometimes she’s not interested but she got really into issue 12. Issue 12 is my favourite since the first. Such a great story and I love how it’s all about Mary Jane, something I’ve wanted to see happen
I've been trying to get my girlfriend into comics for so long, and I think I got her when I showed her Ultimate Spider-Man. She's been a Marvel/MCU fan for years while growing up on Marvel Video Games and stuff like that but never the comics, but recently, she's expressed interest diving into this world and I wanted to give her a great but a little bit more of an accessible suggestion. Ultimate Spider-Man fit that criteria perfectly. It's been an absolutely incredible run and definitely tops my 2024 list.
I got the first vol of department of truth on black friday and was AMAZED by it all! The art was stunning, beautiful, and terrifying all the same! Ive been getting hardcover collections recently for big comics and im DEFINITELY getting this whole run! (Im commenting as i watch lol)
Don’t have time to watch right now, but just leaving a like and comment for the algorithm. Will come back later! For now, I’ll just say thanks for all the content this year! You (and Ultimate Spider-Man) helped me get back into reading comics, and now I have a reason to look forward to Wednesdays when new books are added to DCUI.
Finally coming back to this. Great list! Things I’ve read: Ultimate Spider-Man - this was the first book I bought in a few years. Loving everything about it. Geiger - I’ve been reading this and the other Ghost Machine books on Hoopla whenever they drop a new issue. Nightwing - picked up the hardcovers from the library several months ago per your recommendation. This was the catalyst for me getting DCUI so I could read the last couple volumes Public Domain - got Vol 1 from the library and loved it. Nice change of pace from the cape books Absolute DC - been reading these on DCUI, so a bit delayed but loving it so far I’m currently a few issues into Tom King’s WW. And Penguin, Dept of Truth, and Fantastic Four are all on my list.
Love seeing these best of lists to help spread the gospel of comics and rein in new readers! My favs of 2024 were: Grommets, Universal Monsters - Frankenstein, Precious Metal, Helen of Wyndhorn, and Batman and Robin Year One(only 3 issues deep, but it's that good already). Honorable mentions: Absolute Wonder Woman, The Moon is Following Us, Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, Tin Can Society, and Ultimate Spider-Man. GREAT year for comics!
I love all the Ultimate runs I can’t decide which is more exciting for me. The new era of X-Men has also been really fun for me. The ones I read now are: Uncanny X-Men, NY X, Exceptional X-Men Ultimate X-Men, Sentinels Psylocke, Storm, Wolverine (Laura Kinney), Magik (comes out next month but excited) , Phoenix. On the independent side of things: Hornsby & Halo, Hyde Street, Rocketfellers, and my favorite The Moon is Following Us. As far as DC goes: the Absolute series is really good, Wonder Woman by Tom King has been interesting and Black Canary: Best of the Best is really fun but my favorite is Batgirl (Cassandra Cain series).
7:40 THANK YOU!!!!! I have been trying to remember the name of this comic. I saw you first talk about it in one of your early videos and I tried going all the way back to find it but couldn’t. Gonna definitely check this one out
Love hearing your comic recommendations as always. And what a great year of comics this has been! Of your picks, I either have read or am reading six of them, and I'm itching to get my hands on the others. I probably read not even 10% as many comics as you do, so I don't get to everything the year it comes out, but I'm enjoying what I can. I also absolutely love the new Ultimate Spider-Man and Fantastic Four runs. Both of them feel like the kind of great entry point comics that got me hooked on reading comics in the first place 10 years ago. I love how the Fantastic Four run uses science in such creative ways while also being really funny and occasionally having a pinch of horror. I also read The Nice House on the Lake this year and thought it was great. Looking forward to reading The Nice House by the Sea. And I just read the latest volume of Monstress, one of my favorite ongoing books, and thought it was probably my favorite volume in a couple years. I can't wait to check out the new Absolute books, especially Absolute Wonder Woman because Kelly Thompson is one of my favorite writers, and more of the new Ultimate books as well.
Great picks. About to go to Barnes and Noble for trades. Pretty sure I can find Ultimate BP and a new DC compact. The others I want are a bit uncertain
Honestly, this year brought me back into the world of comics, my third time falling in love with comics. My first was when i first read a Spider-Man book. The second was my first time reading both Marvel's and kingdom come and reading all the bboks in books stores and libraries. This year, starting on free comic book day, I was brought back in by Johnathan Hickman's work on Ultimate Spider-Man, and Ngozi Ukazu's Barda. It made me dive into all kinds of books I am really enjoying from World's finest and birds of prey, to the various mutant tiles and Fantastic Four, along with many indie titles I have found just as riveting. Thank you for posting and creating a helpful and positive space to talk and learn about it all.
Got back into comics this year and reading more consistently than ever before. Ultimate Spider-Man was great for sure and all the absolute books. Still really enjoying Williamson’s Superman as well as TMNT and the new Wolverine book, Worlds Finest, Batman & Robin (and the Batman & Robin Year one) and catching up on Moon Knight
a timely video as I'm about to visit my local comic book store which has just moved into larger premises. It feels like there is an increasing public interest in comic books beyond "ooh, it's a comic book movie". Hoping that 2025 will be a great year as I expand my comic reading with even more choice close to home and you sharing your insight on what's available..
Fantastic four 22 had one of the sickest Alex Ross covers ever, I need to read this run. I'm digging the Absolute run and can't wait see what they do for the other other dc heroes. Personally my favorite of this year has to be the Energon universe stuff Kirkman created as a huge Transformers fan that has been wonderful.
Sad Hellen of Windhorn wasn’t on the list. It’s one of my favorite comics mainly because of the art but the story is so fascinating and has an interesting end to it.
Coy, you’re a gem. And you are the sole reason that I got back into comics about 8-10 years ago. Because of you I’ve read 6 of the choices on your Top List (and 3 of the top 4!) and all of the others I’m at least familiar with from you mentioning and there are easily 2-3 that I definitely know I still want to read. My personal favorites of the year were Ultimate Spidey (by far) followed by Uncanny X-Men, and then SIKTC and DoT. Thanks for all that you do and, specifically, for your comics content and reviews/recommendations on this channel. What a year it’s been and what a year you’ve had. Bravo. Now take a well deserved break and may it be a happy and healthy start to your 2025.
Thanks for everything Coy. Got ultimate spiderman issue 12 and it's great. I have absolute batman and Superman to read for this year. It's been a lot of fun.
USM is truly something special. Hickman is my favorite writer and he's doing a fantastic job. Checchetto's art is astonishing. Definitely my favorite run of the year. My favorite individual issue would probably be the DOOM one shot. Thought that was fantastic as well
Rook Exodus, Transformers Geiger and Ultimate Spiderman has been the most enjoyable and consistent comics for me in 2024 . The entire energon universe has been really great as well. Best time for me to get back into comics
Ultimate Spider-Man is on top of my favorite comics this year. Highly consistent Jonathan Hickman writing is immaculate and you can feel it through the pages. The absolute books are great start if you want to read alternative versions of the characters. I haven’t read Saga tbh I picked up vol. 1 last year and the art didn’t connect with me but I’m going to give it another try.
What’s been crazy is some of the current runs at DC lately - Batman/Robin Year One is amazing & The Last Halloween has been SO good as well (surprisingly?); Jenny Sparks by Tom King too
Killer list Coy. If I may draw some attention to more books: "The Ultimates" is magnificent and one of the most punk things I've read coming from the big 2 in over a decade. Spider-Man is deservedly getting a lot of love but this Ultimate universe is really reminding me of when I was drawn to comics just because I was hypnotically compelled by the power of stories. "Feral" is one of the most unique takes on a zombie story I've read lately. Fun piece of xenofiction that's consistently tense, disarming and unpredictable. "The Sacrificers" started slow burning but is really building to something great with this last arc and more than a little cathartic watching a downtrodden youth rampage against the institutions that robbed him and his generation of futures for their own greed. And thank you again Coy for being a legitimate bastion of insightful positivity. I quit writing as a critic because the scened of narrative discourse disgusted me with its cynicism and unfounded egotism. That same disgust has kinda depressed me and made pursuing creating real art an uphill battle. Your lively enthusiasm for art has inspired me to read more intently and hope I can start writing again. Thanks again. Can't wait for what 2025 brings.
Those ALL would clear my top 25! SO many great books this year! As a huge fan of Stray Dogs I was so happy FERAL was great too! Remender is a fave and REALLY digging Sacrificers and absolutely with you on ULTIMATES and most especially thank you for the kind words,. the internet is a LOT its... never easy. very much appreciate the positive feedback that its reaching folks., ONWARD to 2025 and I hope the muse finds you again!
Everytime I see one of them Amazing looking F4 covers I want to read them but I’ve also never seen or heard anyone talk about how the book is so now that I know it’s worth it I’ll go ahead and check it out
Ultimate Spider-Man is what a reinvention should be. Taking the classic elements and updating them without loosing the core and heart of the character. This Peter is responsibility first then power whereas 616 is power and responsibility. He gets bitten as an adult by choice because his life is filled with dissatisfaction rather than massive guilt. I love the dynamics in the book as well. We see Peter and Harry’s relationship develop from the start and become best friends within this year. We see an adult Gwen Stacey who’s more hard headed. Uncle Ben is alive and working with JJJ. My favourite dynamics are Mary Jane and Uncle Ben and JJJ and Richard. Both such new dynamics that work so well. They play with the old formula and merge ideas. The clone idea has debuted in a fresh way and teasing what Venom will be in this universe. Issue 12 was about MJ and her family and it was so refreshing and engaging
Tbh i gotta go with Nightwing for the 2nd yr in a row as my best comic. Taylors writing & Redondos art are great. Best run the characters ever gotten too.
I can't WAIT to dive into Gromets when it becomes a TPB! Got me interested on Public Domain for sure. I'm going to have 5 books on my pull list by March (Absolute Martian Manhunter & Aquaman hype!) so I'm happy to have trades save me from spending so much XD NIGHTWING MADE YOUR LIST YAY! Really been loving the new art direction for the All-In jumping on point :D. I'm torn on wanting to try a Marvel Ultimate title, is there any other you'd recommend aside from Spider-Man? Cause so far that's winning me over to follow in trades.
As someone who has been around comics my whole life but just recently started reading the books themselves how should I go about getting caught up without getting too overwhelmed? *Specifically Marvel* Ps. really love your content and it has allowed me to gain a lot more appreciation for the comics themselves!
Hi Coy since DC studios has been developing a teen titans movie set in DCU, there has been a big discussion about the team roster because theres many version of it through out different medium whether its comic, animation and live action, i want to ask what is your ideal take for the members of the teen titans team for DCU.

My favourite book of the year: The Department of Truth! Shout-outs go out for: Animal Pound and Transformers! It would take me ages to figure out my favourite Marvel comics, but Resurrection of Magneto and Ultimate Spider-man were both incredibly consistent runs
My favorite runs are: The Sacrificers by Rick Remender, Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman, Green Arrow by Joshua Williamson & Chris Condon, Redcoat & Geiger by Geoff Johns, Poison Ivy by G Wilow Wilson, Wonder Woman by Tom King, Transformers by Daniel Warren Johnson, Immortal Thor by Al Ewing, The Incredible Hulk by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, & Superman by Joshua Williamson. From your picks Coy Public Domain sounds interesting and I need to catch up on The Department of Truth comics. I loved that series and I hope James Tynion IV will finish it without another hiatus. Greg Rucka still isn't back to finish Black Magick, and maybe that series will stay unfinished.
it would be so awesome to see this become a monthly thing! you can recap your favorite comics of the month in this format, then at the end of the year, you’ll have all the videos to recap so you can pick out your final 10!
Well, I did it. I bought all of Saga (do I now have multiples of some issues, sure, but who cares). It ended up being relatively cheap... $135. So, 2025 will be the year of (my return to) Saga 😍
@CoyJandreau I'm a recent subscriber. I love your channel. I learned about you from The Breakroom. It's so cool that you got to meet James Gunn. You must love your job!!!
Before watching this I’d place Geiger, Rook, Redcoat, X-Men/Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine, Batman and Robin in my top 10. Geiger has been great and probably my #1. Not sure what the other 3 books would be. ASM was ok not great in 2024. Ultimate Books have been ok. Captain America has been decent. Batman has been ok not great. It’s too early but both Absolute Batman and Superman are off to great starts.
@ as a big time collector I’d love to see u do a show where u go through your ASM collection. I’ve got a complete run going back to 129 and working my way to 100. I know u have mentioned before u had a complete run going back to issue 1 or close to a complete run.
I been introduced to the great Coy when he co host New Rockstars The Breakroom. Now I am loving the channel. It’s just fun, relaxing, entertaining, and just PURE joy!!
I started watching in 2024, and I can’t wait what’s in store for this channel, for you in 2025.

Aiming for 50 by march and 100 by EoY we got this! And thanks so much!
I got the hardcover collections for something is killing is the children and fell in love with it! Really glad I have the whole run!
It’s SO next level great

I just got vol. 1 of Ultimate Spider-Man and absolutely love it! Ultimate Black Panther is good also.
Excellent list 👌
Love watching your videos especially about comics!
THANK YOU! So much!
Tbh i gotta go with Nightwing for the 2nd yr in a row as my best comic. Taylors writing & Redondos art are great. Best run the characters ever gotten too.
Spidey is such a chill cat 😂

Well, I did it. I bought all of Saga (do I now have multiples of some issues, sure, but who cares). It ended up being relatively cheap... $135. So, 2025 will be the year of (my return to) Saga 😍
Ultimate Spider-Man is TOO good 👍
Truth!
I'm not surprised that yr 2 weeks behind on yr comic books reading 50 to 70 a week!! Wow
Wonder Woman and Absolute Wonder Woman are my top 2
great picks!
Hi coy is there a chance I can still get a comic book from the giveaway?
Does anyone have a recommendation for where to get comic books?
Could you do more videos about comics from the 60s, 70s, and 80s?
As it is comic videos don’t do well.
But down the line once iv past 200/250k followers im hoping to add in older runs, algorithm be dammed
@CoyJandreau I'm a recent subscriber. I love your channel. I learned about you from The Breakroom. It's so cool that you got to meet James Gunn. You must love your job!!!
I just recently bought the first appearance of the KGBeast, the Bronze age clayface, and the second appearance of Parasite.
fellow Geiger fans, hell yeah
Cheaaa
Before watching this I’d place Geiger, Rook, Redcoat, X-Men/Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine, Batman and Robin in my top 10. Geiger has been great and probably my #1.
Not sure what the other 3 books would be. ASM was ok not great in 2024. Ultimate Books have been ok. Captain America has been decent. Batman has been ok not great.
It’s too early but both Absolute Batman and Superman are off to great starts.
GREAT picks big fan of the Ghost in the Machine stuff as well! Also digging the cap!
@ as a big time collector I’d love to see u do a show where u go through your ASM collection. I’ve got a complete run going back to 129 and working my way to 100. I know u have mentioned before u had a complete run going back to issue 1 or close to a complete run.
Have you read Batman the last Halloween? 🔥🔥
digging it so far!
ULTIMATE SPIDERMAN FOR DA WINNNN
Cheaaa
Wait is Issue 40 of Somethings Killing the Children the end of the book?
I think it’s just a major link of demarcation and a break. More to come!
@ Oh ok great! Glad to hear it. This really is such a great world and I feel like we’re really just scratching the surface!
"and one of my favorite things about the end of the year personally is topless" (wait WHAT?! *rewind* Nevermind.)
giggity
Where is BRZRKR??? Hard pass on this channel.
It wrapped its first run in 2023?
And bye 👋
P.S. Your Nos 1 and 2 are #Marvel....well, so much for you being a #DC shrill... :)
Love the pure comics videos
My number 1 has to be Transformers. DWJ is just the goat!
