  • Slow Stitching is a fun activity where artists sew unique designs and make each piece original. In today's video, I show my process for stitching a fabric block, using concentric squares. I alternate fabrics, between patterns and solids, to build up the pieces. Then, I add a focal point in the center of the smallest square.
    I decided to turn this into a March 2022 Fabric Challenge and stitch a square each day of the month. I'll post my daily blocks on Instagram danielamellenartist.
    Slow Stitching Stitch A Square | Fabric Squares & Focal Points | Best way how to stitch square 2022
    Square blocks can be any size. Mine are 3 3/4" square.
    I use 3-4 squares for layers, and then have a focal point in the center.
    The focal point can be a stitch, a piece of treasured fabric, a found object, beads, a button, or a charm.

    This is so cute …. I’ve never thought of the benefit of sewing from the inner piece outward … thank you for that idea… makes perfect sense!
    I just thought of an idea that may be nice for my toddler grandson … I could make these squares, sew on a tiny toy ,,,similar to the turtle and then sew a vinyl piece over it … to keep toy enclosed …. I Spy

    Good morning from S.E. Pennsylvania! Can a fabric postcard be made by SlowStitching only? No sewing machine?

    • @DanielaMellen
      @DanielaMellen  2 года назад

      You sure can. Just be sure all seams and fabric pieces are stitched down securely. You want to make the postcard as durable as you can.

    Daniela, what is the approximate size of the squares?

    • @DanielaMellen
      @DanielaMellen  2 года назад

      The squares are approximately 4 inches, but feel free to use any size you like. For this project, and trying to complete 1 a day, I thought a 4" size was achievable.
