The Epiphone 'Muse' Les Paul Is Worth Considering On A Budget

  • Hi folks - we are slowly getting through a lot of the models from epiphones recent revamp, and now its time to look at the muse. Whilst it certainly feels cheaper then the other models.... after all it is.... I still think it makes for a good newer les Paul option for someone on a stricter budget.
The traditionalist in me though - means if I was on a budget for a LP type guitar id turn my attention to a brand like vintage for a more traditional LP vibe at a similar price - but I'm ignoring my old fashioned bias in the video haha!

I much prefer LPs to not have the pickguard or poker chip, but I’m not sure about the clear knobs, they make it look cheaper to me.

I prefer without pickguard too - i did forget to mention this one doesnt have the wholes for one either.

That's one of the reasons I bought this guitar because it didn't have a pickguard and the poker chip. I replaced the knobs with black with the red numbers. I had never heard of it but I liked the way it looks with the red sparkle with gold flakes. It was during lockdown and Sweetwater gave 25 dollars off and set it up for me. It's the first Les Paul I've ever owned except a Epiphone LP VE and it was defective and I put the money towards the 339 pro with the original headstock which I still have. When I received it I couldn't believe the sound and tonal qualities. The phase switch with both pickups normal or split you don't have to adjust the volume unless you choose to. You also don't have tone droppage when adjusting tone. The electronics are awesome with the treble bleed whatever that means. It also doesn't bother me that it doesn't have CTS pots.

You can buy any knob you want for like $10

Sorry my comment below was so long but I saw where a player was waiting for his Muse to arrive because the parts to fully modify had already arrived. He also bought his Muse unplayed.

Nice looking Les Paul. Sounded great and at that price definetely a guitar a new guitar player on a budget or someone wanting another Les Paul could consider.

I’m a 10 year player and a former Gibson guy. Sold my Gibsons before a move and switched to Fenders. Couldn’t quite get the rhythm tone I was looking for with my Jaguar HHs and went to a music store and picked one of these up. Absolutely dig this guitar and probably more than my last Gibson

If you want closer to original then classic. If you like all the modern features and would use them try a muse 🙂

I agree. However the Alnico Pros are really good, so I'm thinking there's something else going on with this guitar; not enough wood to absorb the tinnitus maybe? Action too low maybe?
The Modern Les Paul classics use the same pups and don't sound at all tinny.
