Hello, I am the Uncle Bryan that is getting this guitar, the reason that my nephew got it for me was that lavender was my wife's favorite color. Diane my wife of over 40 years and Chris's Aunt all of his life, passed away suddenly, almost 3 years ago now. when Chris saw this, he knew he had to get it for me, and I feel so honored that he loved his Aunt Diane so much...
Very cool. I had an Uncle I loved a lot as well. I hope you enjoy your new guitar, you have a good nephew, who apparently thinks your a great uncle. Rock on!
Thanks for the birthday message Trogly. I know this guitar means the world to my Uncle Bryan. He lost his wife not long ago and this guitar was her favorite color. The guitar has been dubbed "the Spirit of Diane," in her memory. Thanks again for making this birthday wish that little bit more special.
The best looking guitar in my collection is an Ibanez RG1XXV in Fluorescent Pink. The pink shark tooth inlays are really cool. I didn't think I would like a pink guitar so much. Now I want a Jackson Dinky DK2 in neon pink, and a Fender HM Strat in flash pink. And of course an SG Muse in purple passion metallic (which looks pinkish too).
It’s too bad that Gibson won’t loosen up a bit and start offering these wider ranges of colors and finishes. It’s a bummer to see guitars with great specs done in tired colors and finishes. The options for finishes is often what drives people to boutique brands.
I mean... If there was a market for them I'm sure they would. Even if a couple people get driven to boutique brands, that small amount of people alone wouldn't make it cost effective.
TheMichiganfan97 I own a Kiesel. It’s a fantastic instrument. Built with my choice of tone wood, top, colors, and finish, ordered and built in 8 weeks. Gibson cannot compete with that. (And I own a Gibson too, so I have something to compare it to).
@@natashanyxx9486 LOL. Gibson "can't compete" with that? Are... Are you serious? Gibson has an annual revenue of around $1 billion. Yet they "can't compete" with a tiny company more notable for inexcusable customer service than anything guitar related? Yikes.
I bought one of these in the same color sight unseen the moment I saw it online at NAMM Show review. Always wanted an SG type guitar and this one forced me to pull the trigger. For the price I don't think you can beat it. And by the way I am a 50 year old man, but I play funk music so the color suits just fine. And by the way Mr. I Trogly, kind of purple and kind of pink is called Magenta! Many argue whether this is actually a color or not because it does not naturally appear on the color spectrum which is what fascinates me about the color. It is literally, off the chart! Looks fantastic, plays great and sounds awesome. As Trogly said there is nothing to do but just choose your color...
Lol my first guitar was a hot pink Daisy Rock LP copy that was like $400. It has Duncan Designed pickups and grover tuners. I mainly play an Ibanez ART100 (another cheap LP style guitar) now. All unbranded parts but it's way lighter than the Daisy Rock.
@@BucsRaysBolts: Lol my first electric was a Ruby Sparkle Daisy Rock Retro-H De-Luxe - like $400. Duncan Designed minis, Grovers & a genuine Bigsby. KILLER tone.
@@slapittywapitty8173 Cool I never knew they released a semi hollow. I just looked mine up and it's the Rock Candy Classic. It sounds great but the weight kills my back now.
I bought one in scarlet red a couple of months ago. Even the pro photos that Sweetwater sends you after you buy one didn't do it justice, and the fit and finish, binding etc... were as good as perfect. Very happy! It's a player and a keeper for less than $450. Do yourself a favor and go play one before you spend more.
I bought the red one. The neck feels great. I thought I might have to change the pickups, but I love them. I play this as much as my #1 2012 Gibson Les Paul Standard.
I was in that mindset originally. But once you see how nice the finish is, you realise that it'd be a waste to put a pickguard on it. I got the jet black metallic version recently and it's honestly beautiful. The stock photos on retailer websites don't really show off just how good the finishes look on this range. I went from 'uh no pickguard? I don't like it!' to 'I'm gonna get one, but I'm gonna fit a pickguard', to now having it in my hands and thinking 'this guitar is a work of art, I wouldn't change it at all'. It sounds fucking awesome too. Honestly amazing guitar especially for the £250 I paid for it. The finish is too stunning to cover up with pickguards.
When I was a fourth grader in 1965, my friend Danny received a purple Schwinn Stingray bicycle for his birthday. All the other kids at his party, and I, thought it was the coolest bike ever.
Every blue moon a really good Epiphone will surface. This may be blasphemous to say on Trogly's channel, but I'm 55 years old and in my guitar playing life of almost 40 years, I have owned several Gibson Les Pauls, but the absolute best Les Paul I've had is a 2015 Limited Edition 100th Anniversary Epiphone Les Paul in Natural finish. That axe is exquisite. Best LP hands down.
@@johndef5075 I must admit, my LP has the deluxe Dovewing headstock, but yes...that headstock complaint is ridiculous...a guitar plays good or it doesn't...
The green one is DOPE. The pickups sound pretty rough to me. But for this price throwing in some SD 59's would give you a great sounding guitar too. I had an epiphone SG with p90's and it was one of my favorite guitars ever. These colors are great for the stage!
Glam Rock band member here..! Hahaha! This is the color I want for mine! I already have the Blue LP. Killer pickups, great coil splitting/ phase action... super affordable! 🤘😎⚡️
American Musical Supply has a run of the SG moderns in different color options like trans red and honeyburst. Loaded with quality parts, you just can't go wrong with the Epiphone SG Modern. The build quality exceeds expectations at the price point but the neck on this guitar is simply outstanding! It plays like a dream! I love mine! Toss your favorite set of pickups in it and you'll be playing it a lot!
Trogly this has been the guitar I've been waffling to buy as my next guitar (or a G&L Doheny, would be cool to see some G&L love here on the channel) and this video is seriously making me question my decision, it's SO much prettier in video than I ever thought it would be from pictures, and I already loved the photos!!! Thanks for this video :)
Hihow the first G&L I bought (GT-90) was so incredibly good I somehow ended up with two more G&Ls far too quickly. (HB3 and an ASAT Tribute, all deals, all excellent).
Regarding top mounted jacks, it's the lever action of a big straight plug that leads to damage if you accidentally bump it. Use an angle plug on a top mount jack. I like the color. A lot like Burgundy Mist on my phone anyway.
I got the modern wasn’t planning on it, but the asymmetric neck was more comfortable in my hand than other guitars in the price range despite the glossy finish. I swapped out clear speed knobs for black, looks stunning, plays great, stays in tune and the out of phase sound is delicious. It is a little on the heavy side compared to the other SG models in stock but I can live with it.
Bought the SG Muse in Radio Blue. Absolute stunner ! First upgrade on all my guitars is locking tuners. Side output jack , no pick guard , clear knobs, coil split and phase switch all modern twists. Comes with the classic SG neck dive. Would move the top strap button to a better location. Great piece of gear !
I bought the pearl white muse back in April and I've enjoyed it as is but I always bought it with the intention of upgrading the wiring and pickups Maybe put a full black batwing pick guard on it too for a real stunner of a look. Great review and demo as always
I can see myself putting some good vintage tuners. The electronics and pickups I'm actually pretty happy with! And I always wanted a good green guitar lol
I was wanting to hold out for the prophecy series, but i saw a local shop had one of these in this amazing color for only $350 so i caved. Been loving it a lot and I love taking this guitar out of my coffin case and playing some sabbath on it lol.
I just got the green one last week. I'm very happy with it! Neck plays very easy, and nice electronics and pick-ups for the price! Sounded great out of the box. It'll be a good little gigging axe for our heavier songs my Strat isnt best suited for. The knobs LOOK great, but are sketchy fitting. That's really my only main complaint with the guitar, and Grover tuners would have been nice too.
My 2021 Epi SG Modern Figured (in Honeyburst) arrived in VERY good shape. No sharp fret ends, no buzzing, no finish issues. Just a string change, fretboard conditioning and a few minor adjustments was all it needed. My 2020 Les Paul Standard 50's, on the other hand, was pretty terrible.
Just ordered the Wanderlust Green!!! Ur vid makes me feel much better about my decision! GTech Locking tuners, ripping her guts an pick ups out popping in DarkMoon🌑.🤘
Got mine for 380 and a free detail and setup :) Made some upgrades and feeling good! My fretboard is pretty smooth as well Tuners needed tightens badly, switch is loose.
I'm a 16 year old kid who's just now beginning to get into guitars and stuff, I've been a very proud member of my school's marching/concert band for years and years so at least I know I have musical talent lol, the thing is though, my favorite color is pink and I just know my mom will not be happy that her son wants a pink guitar lol, wish me luck guys, hopefully I play well enough to start a band with my boyfriend someday
Cool colour, but it would look so much better, if the plastic surrounding the pickups, the tone and volume knobs and the switch were in black colour like the headstock.
I got the black one recently on sale for £249 and I'm very impressed with it. Would have preferred the pink or almond finish, but they cost like £150 more or so. I'm very pleasantly suprised and impressed with the black one though. The jet black metallic finish looks really nice when the light catches it, especially yellow lighting. It's quite understated on first glance, but is actually a beautiful guitar. Plays and sounds great too!

I like the switching options. Not a fan of the color or the rings and control cover color. But I agree about the modern being best choice despite lack of color options.
For $135 more the Modern has the Maple cap, Grover locking tuners, an *asymmetrical* neck a little fatter at the nut, ebony board, "better"(?) pups and our bud here failed to mention - TWO more frets than a standard Gibbys - 24. Still I have zero regrets buying the stupid fast pearl white Muse SG - clearly the only "color" that doesn't get old yet still *pops* like a 💥. 👀 🎸
Great video. I am in the market for an Epiphone SG but getting model overload. You have the Muse line, Standard, Classic and Custom. I might be missing some. I would love to figure out how they standup against each other. Although I am NOT a fan of the output jack in the front. As far as I know, only the Muse has it on the side. This will likely drive my selection unless there is something about the Standard that makes it the winner.
I have the white one. The neck, tuning, intonation...all perfect. BUT. The pickups blow as do the electronics. It’s PCB wiring, so a pick up swap needs to be rewired. I did the full job plus Whole Lotta Humbuckers (Seymour Duncan). It sounds and plays amazing. I got it in January and rarely play any of my other guitars and I play every day. I love mine.
From what I saw, the Epiphone SG Modern has 24 frets (24.72"/628mm - Asymetrical Slim Taper neck w/Contoured Heel) v. the Epiphone SG Muse, which has 22 frets (24.75" / 628.65mm - Custom C neck). My vote is for spending the money on the Epiphone SG Modern which still 1/4th the price of the Gibson SG Modern.
The Modern has 24 frets, Muse 22. That gets rid of the weird tenon cover and extends your range all in one swell foop. I've loved SG's since they came out but oddly just couldn't look past the tenon cover, it always bugged me. So when Gibson came out with a 24 fret SG, perfect solution! I grabbed it.
I have the wanderlust green SG and it's beautiful! in person ( bought at a pawn shop in excellent condition for $200 so setup and strings were needed ) and I love it ( also have a custom built SG ). I need that pink one. I have a Hello Kitty sticker I want to put on it. ( I am an SG fanboy LOL ) It's awesome!!!. I like the jack position honestly. I always use D'D or EB strings ( depending on the bridge ) I always change to locking tuners other than my Custom SG ( has vintage greens ). This Muse is a great! guitar and the price point is perfect IMO.

Brilliant review, i ordered my own Purple Passion SG now. It suits perfect to my glamrock band. But: I hope the tuners are metal and not plastic...
You must pre order and review the Epi Prophecy Extura. Was being released on Oct but Sweetwater messaged me and said delayed till Nov 2020
I ended up getting the red one because it's just slightly cheaper than the other colors
Luv the green, almond, and the purple, although I would prefer the LP Muse, over the SG.
I love epiphone I have a explorer and a les Paul traditional 3 with Zakk Wylde emg pick ups
Do a review of. Epiphone SG standard with the bigger pickguard.
Sounds so good distorted
Laughed way to hard at the "always trying new things here on the channel - Lefty Unboxings!" XD
I played this guitar at sam ash about a month ago. It was really cool but the neck dive was too much so I decided to buy a Micheal Kelly 63 instead.
Good choice 👍
Cc Deville would love that colour 😂 looks gorgeous but I prefer the blue 😎
the black with a pick guard would be pretty sweet
I acquired a G-400 with a fat neck. The guitar is killer!
I really like the burnt almond
