This red color on the epiphone is just mindblowingly awesome

That Gibson is not $5000 better. For $5000 it better have a Gold Bar in it. Gibson is absurd with their prices. I’d rather get the Epiphone and possibly upgrade the pickups. Or better yet - buy a Yamaha or D’Angelico double-cut guitar for way less $$$.

The Custom Shop sounds louder, therefore better but I'd use an SG with higher volume/gain. That kind of erases the difference in volume. This is expecially true for a guitar with the Muse's switching system. Split coil and out of phase sounds are even quieter than humbuckers so they'd have to be louder to fit into a rock music context. All that said I love the sound of both SGs here. The vibrato tuning issues are a deal killer for me no matter how gorgeous the guitar is. And the Muse switching system makes it very versatile. I'd spring for the Epiphone.

I love these videos. I love my Gibson Les Paul. The new Epiphone inspired by Gibson Les Paul is so close. Now I need to go find and try these two SG styles.

Interesting comparison! The GCS '61 pickups sound more articulate to me than the Epi Classic Pro, as you'd expect. And the nitro stain finish is awesome. But the vibrola seems for collectors only.

Yeah too bad they don't give you a Bigsby option or even an ABR-1 option as well (oh but they give you a control cavity cover) for that price So many players took those things off back in the day Both sound thin to me

I have the Epiphone SG Muse in smoked Almond. It's a rockin S. B. couldn't ask for a nicer more well rounded guitar at any price. I'm not vain enough to pay 10 times the money for a"NAME". Who cares,if my playing doesn't impress them then it wouldn't matter what brand is. I was so happy with the Epiphone I ordered another SG with P90's and was totally blown away. Not too many people buy a SG to play clean and slow, they are for Rock and Roll and turned to 11.

That would be my choice of finish if I could pick any of these. I got the SG Muse in jet black metallic for £249 though which is insanely cheap, so I went with that. Looks shockingly nice IRL though. The photos just don't do these Muse finishes justice, especially not the black one. I'm blown away by how good this guitar is and how cheap it was.

I’m about to buy that Muse in almonds. My big beef with the SG Standard is the output jack in the front. It’s the n the way.

I have the smoke almond SG as well as the jet black SG Muses. Made the black drop D tuning. The smoke almond finish is beautiful and the sound is great. Love them. Love Epiphone guitars in general. I have the Epip Les Paul Plus Pro FX and Custom and also Riviera P93 with 3 P90s.

$429 for a quality guitar with all the features you get is a good deal in my opinion. I'm considering an Sg coz of the weight, I was surprised that a chambered Muse was half a pound heavier than a standard. Nice guitars!

Love the cheap vs expensive vids. Especially when it’s as far skewed as that. I’m sure the sideways nonsense on the custom sucks to play and it’s not for me but for the two minutes it does stays in tune, you wanna talk about the sound, one sounds like a $430 Epi and one sounds like a $5k custom Gibson shop. Gave me a lil chuckle. Just no comparison. Please do more of these. Like if you have a cheap squire bullet versus like a Clapton signature custom shop that takes a 9v battery.

For $400 the Muse is the steal the year. Throw some improved pickups on there, maybe some nut and bridge enhancements and you get a SIDE outputjack on an SG which means a very very unique SG! The playability factor is off the charts. Oh, and there's an overpriced gibson in this video i guess. Picking up a Muse myself soon for some custom work.

Sound wise, I liked the Gibson better BUT neither are my cup of tea. Not an SG fan, I guess. Liked a Gibson CF-100e with a P-90. So did my son who plays it now. Thanks Cooper.

I love these videos, please do more of them when you have inventory like that. I’m sure that sideways bigsby crap or whatever it is sucks to play and yes it’s gonna go out of tune but one sounds like a $430 Epi and the other sounds like a $5k Gibson custom shop. If you could do one with like a squire bullet versus the Clapton custom shop that takes the 9v or some other ridiculous one, that would be sweet. I just love hearing how much better the nicer ones sound.

I like the muse idea, If you write with a guitar as I do I have problems finding inspiration. I believe I’ll be trying one of the muse guitars out. I already own one Gibson SG, Its a Gibson it’s great, and I’ll buy one more God willing and the creeks don’t rise.
The dark Heritage cherry SG just because of the color. Pure vanity but what a good looking guitar.

If you play for fun I can understand the appeal of the Epiphone. If you record stuff all the time and do this professionally there is nothing to compare here.
I personally would avoid the vibrola at all costs and go for a stopbar. SG std is like 1400euros. Not cheap but yo won't be buying an SG type guitar any time soon in my opinion.
