The oil problem has a solution, it requires an engine teardown thats why people dont bother to fix it. it is commonly attributed to piston ring wear since the piston was shorter than usual. Toyota fixed some of these engines under a recall in some countries and they dont have this issue till date. But above all as long as you always have a jar of oil in your car and check every week, the oil burning and dashboard issue is worth it because oil is very cheap and the maintenance cost is crazy cheap. I think it's not about short pistons rather the rings are low tension nowadays especially from the 2007 2Ez engines unlike the older models. it has to do with emissions standards because low tension rings reduce drag and less drag equals to less load. But I agree with you that you can get a million miles if check and top your oil regularly or just maintain 3000miles oil changes

Camry Muscle was released in 2006 for the 2007 model year, 2006 was the last year of the previous generation (Big Daddy). Also, refresh was in 2009 for the 2010 model year. That refresh got a new 2AR-FE 2.5 4 cylinder engine enfine to replace the 2AZ-FE 2.4 cylinder engine.
You forgot to add it has a bad AC evaporator that doesn't last and leaks gas every 1 month, when it's due for a change. The AC evaporator doesn't last long. Secondly if for any reason you have to change it's inner shaft connected to the gearbox please avoid taking it out while the engine has been started, it's best changed when the car parks over the night. Before this you can also disconnect the battery, other than that it's a direct way to destroy the gearbox. Generally the car is really a good and reliable car, I have owned the 08, 09 and 011. Very trustworthy. ❤
Thanks for that technical tip on the gearbox...please can you shed more light on why the gearbox is affected when you change the innershaft just around when the engine has been started ?
@@234drive This is so because the inner shaft is directly plugged into the gear box, and the gear box is a piece designed not to allow air into it just like a car radiator, the moment air gets trapped inside it, it overheats, also stops oil from circulating properly through the leathers and valve body(with a 22pin gear box it's a NO, NO but a 13pin you might be lucky but with a very slim chance). This causes improper flow in transmission. Secondly when the car gets started before the change, it puts the valve body to play and sets the valve body in motion. The moment the gear box gets open after starting, it sucks in air and pushes out oil, thereby causing oil spillage and sending wrong signal to the ECU. At this point there will be malfunction in transmission within seconds or minutes if lucky. So it's best parked over night when the oil has gone into hiding or settled in various holes and sessions in the valve body thereby reducing oil spillage and change in gearbox temperature, also ECU do not have recent memory of the transmission. So it's best to disconnect the battery over night in order to drain out the memory on the ECU before effecting this change.
