Her favorite designer, Dior designed Dietrich's wardrobe for Alfred Hitchcock's 1950 film 'Stage Fright' and also her famous 'Battle Dress' for the 1951 Academy Awards for which she received a standing ovation prior to presenting the award for best foreign language film

Thanks for the tip - I love Hitchcock and Dietrich but never saw 'Stage Fright.' In fact, the dress at 1:45 appears in the film.

2:13 Out of the gowns shown, I would say this one has to be my favorite. The layers of fabric are draped so wonderfully at odd angles, it’s like looking at a layer of whipped cream
