this record brings back some of the best memories of my life , THANK YOU , for giving me back something I've loved so much and haven't heard in many years ! VIVE MARLENE !
12 gennaio 2022 IN TORINO LA BELLISSIMA!!
What a wonderful musical treat that was. Marlene was such a great singer. Thank you for the album. I was getting worried until near the end but yes she sang Lili Marlene. I know others like Dame Vera recorded it but this is the best rendition. I looked up Café de Paris and see it permanently closed last December 2020 due to Covid-19.
So glad you liked it Robert, I've had this lp for a while but was waiting to get suitable equipment to play it. Marlene was an icon her show hardly changed in 20 years, check out her London show from the early 70's. I'm trying to get an original German copy of 'Lili' by Lale Andersen but they are rare and expensive.
@@OldiesAlsss Marlena's show changed through time - in her first year in Vegas she was in ring master costume and women in animalistic clothing were trapped in cages as she read something, it was also the time when what I bid for my apple was perfomed. Then in 1955 (judging by her 1955 summer photoshoot at Cafe de Paris) she started wear top&tails and 6 female dancers with her on stage (last in 1962) so many male songs disappeared after that. Then it barely changed - yes a few songs were added occasionally as Everyone gone to the moon, Don't Smoke in Bed, Sentimental Journey and White Grass & Boomerang Baby after visit in Australia 1965. In beginning of 70s she dressed top tails but very rarely and without dance-girls
I had a feeling you might like this mate, I've had it over a year with no way to play it. Its got some crackles but plays pretty well for a vinyl approaching 70.

Brilliant. Excellent recording by the sound crew and reproduction by your system. Quality stuff 😎👍

@@OldiesAlsss Amazing sound quality. Records age beautifully if treated well
It's lovely and heavy, weighs more than a modern 12"
Simply fabulous. Thank you!
❤🎉
you can hear immediately that she was a berliner!
