Regarding "Journey of the Prairie King" - you need to save up power-ups for situations in which you're surrounded. Your gun is, however upgraded it might be, never enough. Best power-ups - wheel and star badge. I managed to do a hitless run once, won't recommend trying that (the game is too unfair and random at times).
well, the luck can be partially accounted for. like all things in the game that are affected by luck, the medal from secret notes helps, as does trying only on maximum daily luck days, though in the grand scheme of things, the difference is relatively minor. If nothing else, powerups, coins, and extra lives will drop more frequently, but i still have yet to clear the minigame even once. I can clear levels, especially with abigail's help (though havent played multiplayer yet to see if the feature is replicated yet), but that only gets you so far.
@@cullenlatham2366 so, the ai of the enemies is extremely dumb, they're very similar to the miniboss called lust in binding of isaac, where if they're met with a single obstacle they'll get confused and just freeze in place allowing you to stay in a corner and just demolish everything, make sure to save the star powerup for the graveyard cuz it gets real tight in there (the bosses are the easiest part of the minigame), also prioritise getting coins cuz the upgrades can affect your run substantially
@@Void-fb5ts I appreciate the tips, but i know them already. It is simply a matter of execution, luck, and wave composition. Confusing the AI into trying to run through a wall can only get so far when other enemies push them around the wall trying to do the same thing. With that logic, level 1-1 is harder than level 1-2 when the enemy spawns are atrocious. In some games, there are never more than 10 enemies on screen at a time in the early levels, yet in others the waves will spawn with 10 enemies rushing you from a single spawn gate, which considering there are 4 gates to manage, that can be up to 40 enemies spawning at once in the early levels before your gun trivializes the grunts and with a limited stockpile of powerups (especially in bad luck days). Then later worlds start adding enemies who can ignore walls, meaning the turtle strat no longer works. The final factor is just how long the game is. It doesnt matter how skilled the player is if one mistake can end the run or bring the player out of their flow state. Whether or not the control scheme matters at all is up for debate, but considering i play the switch version of the game and the switch already has an unaddressed hardware issue of joycon drift, just adds one more hurdle to overcome when the hardware is being stubborn.
@@cullenlatham2366 i dunno i beat it with the corner strat throughout the whole thing cuz enemies just bundle up with each other and flying enemies get stuck in the ground enemies which are confused on walls (I am occasionally forced to get out of the corner, at which point I use my star powerup, if that's not available I just make-do with what I've got and do my best at dodging), shooting in the north-east/west and south-east/west directions were very useful for me (Im on PC) I have beaten the minigame twice now, though not in the same run Also, LUCK AFFECTS THE MINIGAME?! I'm glad to see you try Stardew Valley! It's one of my favorite games and as much as I like Terraria, it's great to see you try it. You really are an underrated youtuber, so it's awesome to see you play one of my favorite games!
Did you know that the first sprouting of trees from seeds can be cut down with a weapon or scythe? It's the only stage of tree growth where it's possible. Might have helped curb tree growth on your farm if you were able to catch them in time.
All throughout the pandemic, I’ve always been like, “maybe I should get animal crossing” and then I end up getting addicted to Stardew valley for 2 weeks and forgetting about it Such an amazing game. Please continue the run, I’d love to see other SDV challenge runs as well!
As a longtime Animal Crossing fan, the Switch version is missing a lot of the magic. New Leaf was the last Animal Crossing game with heart. Stardew Valley seems to have more heart and passion put into it than the last Animal Crossing which just feels stiff.
I've first heard of this game early 2019. I bought in my phone and i didn't understand shit, tried to remove all the debris in my farm but my energy was too low so i spent about an hour doing so. Then i went to the village and bought an energy drink because i found it expensive and i gave it to george, he shouted at me saying "do you want to kill me !?" or sthg loke that. I remember it soo well. Then when the pandemic started i was browsing reddit and i stumbled upon a post of someone saying that he spent the whole pandemic playing stardew valley and i felt fucking nostalgic for some reason. I had by that time a pc so i downloaded it and watched some youtube videos about it, searched the wiki about everything i stumble upon and boom unexpectedly i've been playing it for 1282 hours. Like i know more than i want to know. Absolutly my second favourite game after terraria, which has 2000+ hours of gameplay. Ahhhhh i love the internet i love you idk bye
Stardew is one of my favorite games ever but I havent played in a long time. I saw a lot of new features in this video and came to the conclusion that i need to play the game again. Please make more videos on Stardew!
I've played this game for like 3 in-game months once and then never went back to it, lol. I feel like I'd enjoy it more if I knew more about it. But despite this, I've enjoyed your style of content in the past, so I gave it a watch and found it quite enjoyable. Looking forward to the rest, assuming you continue this (Which I hope you do)!
If you like time management or maximizing profits I highly suggest Stardew Valley! Even if you don't it's still an excellently designed game that allows you to go as slow as you want!
This is quality. I love your subtitleing instead of talking, and your taste in music. No BS, no teenage boys yelling at each other in a chat room. Best Stardew Valley channel after DangerouslyFunny
Don't stop! Keep going! I don't even understand a thing about Stardew Valley, but your explanations and music choices make your vids so relaxing to watch and interesting to see such weirdly difficult challenges.
Really love the video, a couple things I want to mention about this challenge is that 1: you can buy hay from marnie so that you don't have to rely on patches of grass to feed your animals and 2: if you're able to get the bridge repaired you would get access to the golden scythe, which would allow you to clear weeds on the farm if you were just getting awful luck with fishing, and also let's you harvest hay yourself so that you don't need to keep buying it from marnie. Hope this helps out and once again I love the video. It's always nice to see youtubers branching out, even if the algorithm tries to stop them.
I’m so glad you made content from another game. Seriously, your videos are really nice. The writing and most of the music in the background, while explaining something in an incredibly complex game, gives it a rather calming and soothing experience (at least for me, maybe I’m alone here) It makes me happy that your channel could have more variety of videogames in the future. Cannot wait for whatever it’s next!

Wow, so many little things I didn't know about this game. Didn't know you could till the ground with bombs, didn't know either of those fishing weapons existed, that you could fish in the fountain or that you could get a woodskip in the forage farm. Excited to see what else I don't know!
This is such a coincidence! I just started playing Stardew Vallwy with my brother yesterday for the first time! Have to say, great game and great video
I really enjoyed this video! It was so interesting! Stardew Valley is one of my favorite games and you make some seriously high quality content, so this was a match made in heaven for me!
Few things I noticed in this video, as someone who has played a LOT of Stardew. 1. You could technically skip the training rod too; you can get 4 items for the crab pot bundle as beach forage, and the fifth drops from crabs themselves in the mines. Since the bundle itself gives crab pots and they give you a bit of fishing xp, youd be able to get to the fiberglass rod. That said, the only way you would get the gems to get bombs would be lucky trash can drops, I believe. So allowing the training rod made this much easier. Plus youd also need to kill enemies with bombs until you get a weapon. 2. You can buy hay from Marnie. Which should help. 3. As tempting as double forage might be, I think the right play might be to go down the tree chopping path, as it would give you a reliable source of hardwood at level ten, since bombs cant blow up stumps. Hardwood is also available in the mines, but in very low quantities.
you could have just gotten to the secret woods with the chair skip, and used the beach farm for crates. The crates can have deluxe retaining soil, so if you used bombs to till the soil and rain + retaining soil to water the crops, you would be able to farm. Edit: my bad, I didn't realize this video was made before 1.5 released. This strategy should be considered for anyone who wants to do this challenge though.
Kent sending you a bomb in the mail isn't a gift, it's a warning.

I really enjoyed this video! It was so interesting! Stardew Valley is one of my favorite games and you make some seriously high quality content, so this was a match made in heaven for me!
To anyone who hasn't player Stardew Valley, try it. It is absolutely amazing
Ok
I think it's great you're trying new things
I will definitely continue to watch anything you make :)
Would love to see a continuation of this and more Stardew Valley content. Keep up the good work.
man that fight with the angler fish was really intense
Stared valley is a game i only bought this week, and i find it really fun. Watching videos like this are inspiring me to eventually do cool challenges
i hope this gets the traction it deserves! great run so far, and your determination is astounding :)
Great video as always. Would love to finish this series. I love your no nonsense style.
you could have just gotten to the secret woods with the chair skip, and used the beach farm for crates. The crates can have deluxe retaining soil, so if you used bombs to till the soil and rain + retaining soil to water the crops, you would be able to farm.
Edit: my bad, I didn't realize this video was made before 1.5 released. This strategy should be considered for anyone who wants to do this challenge though.
ive never played or watched stardew but the way youre doing it is great. id love to see the whole run!
