Then her mother married a German man, and they moved onto an island and lived. Looks like an amazing place, and see Canada 😮!
When I was a child, I lived on the Southfield side of 8 Mile. My mom worked on the Detroit side and we actually walked across 8 Mile to see her at work. Don't try that these days!!!
The siren goes off in Michigan the first Saturday of the month for checks at 1 pm. Hamtramck was a Polish city from the early 1900's to around the late 1970's. Banksy did an art project in the Ford plant but it was stolen shortly after. BTW we sold Jack White the Frank Wilson test pressing back in 2018 and he repressed it for RSD, we had a few sit down to discuss the 5 figure price with him.
I was in Detroit a couple years ago. Went to mom’s spaghetti and Motown museum. It’s sad to see parts of the city run down when there was a time it was thriving. Sad that Eminem’s house burnt down too.

Detroit is called Motown because at one time, for many decades ALL automobiles, trucks, etc, were built there. What ruined Detroit was when the auto companies mostly moved manufacturing to other states and out of the country. I was there in 1990, and it was still a nice place.
Garth brooks actually has his future grave in Oklahoma. He purchased a family plot that has his parents and sister and a spot for everyone else. A nice circular area in the Oklahoma cemetery

First Detroit musician I always think of is Bob Seger. I grew up in Columbus and I remember his band, the Bob Seger System, would always come down and play local clubs and skating rinks before he became big.
Adam I noticed that when you were by the Brewster old rec center. You didn't mention that the government built apartment complex known as the Brewster Douglas apartments were right by the center. They were for low income families wanting to make a home for their family. Eleanor Roosevelt got it started . There were five to six towers of apartments there.
Great video of Detroit Adam! I really enjoyed your trip to the Gran Torino homes. In 2014 the home that Eastwood lived in in the movie went up for sale. It was on the news. They had an open house, so me and a friend of mine showed up. At that time of day we were the only two people there besides the sales agent. We combed every bit of that home inside and out and took a ton of pictures. It was surreal to have that home to myself for over an hour. I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Michigan.
@32:00 - The parking structure on the right side of the screen is where I would park to go to WSU in the 1990's. That whole area where United Sound is will be torn out to widen I-94.I used to work a block west of there, as well.

Prior to his consulting career, Alan served for five years as Executive Director of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival, where he presented Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and many other artists..
I own the home in the background at 43:06 . Abandoned 35 years and we're restoring it! I hope you got a chance to see the neighborhood around Yorba, it's beautiful. Yorba will hopefully be sold and converted into something more respectable soon.
Adam, if ya get a chance Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village I’d highly recommend!!! I’m in Thumb in little town called Caro. Have fun in our state.
Also if you’re up to it grab a BLT at Tony’s in Birch Run, and highly recommend Whitefish Point in U.P. to see shipwreck museum and bell from Edmund Fitzgerald!!!
hopefully, your guide mentioned the old original Tiger stadium field that was right behing the train station that you looked at. They kept the original field and added some high priced condos behind them
That was a really interesting video I like seeing positive videos which Adam's always are. To finally see this attitude brought to show content about of the city of Detroit is awesome. That Gordy mansion where the owner is actually looking to bring part of the property back to how it was originally is so nice to see being done. So cool he was nice enough to talk for awhile and give some history about it. Found a story about the central station from a year ago ruclips.net/video/ppGNw8kEwOI/видео.html
Actually Eminem has a debut album entitled, 'Infinite', released in 1996. No one ever mentions or acknowledges that album for some reason though. Then the Slim Shady LP in 1999, followed by the Marshall Mathers LP in 2000, and so on. So the 'My Name Is' album you were talking about - The Slim Shady LP - is actually Eminem's sophomore album of his discography, technically. Just a little FYI for Scott on Tape as well.
That siren is the first Saturday of the month tornado siren test. Every Saturday at 1pm they test the siren for I believe a minute. Metro Detroit local here.

Ambulance EMT's probably think you're suffering a mental emergency at the defuncted Burger King.
I cannot believe that mansion was only $1.6 million?! That says a lot about the area.
Fantastic! And loved how even Adam didn’t know the location until Scott rolled up. Super interesting! Moms Spaghetti looked really good!
The "air raid" sirens are tested in the Detroit area at 1:00pm on the first Saturday of the month.
The cut-off story ending is too funny
Fun video and loved all the history. You guys are fun to watch together.
I saw the Tim Hortons coffee cup and my assumptions were correct! Scott on tape but not really tape but RUclips appeared. I love these colabs!
If Scott Michaels makes a cameo I'm going to nominate this video for a YouTee award
The 1st Saturday of the month at 1pm they test all the tornado sirens in Michigan. It's been that way as long as I can remember.
Yay love when you do videos with Scott on Tape. Gonna be a great vido. Love you guys ❤🤘🖤
"Do you like a little band called the White Stripes, Allan?" "Adam." "Adam. Yeah!"
lololol 😂
I believe they are testing the tornado sirens, they usually do that midday during the first week of the month
The moment the sirens went off, I thought, "oh, must be the first Saturday of the month!" #DetroitBorn
Isn't it amazing what some read into that?
@32:00 - The parking structure on the right side of the screen is where I would park to go to WSU in the 1990's. That whole area where United Sound is will be torn out to widen I-94.I used to work a block west of there, as well.
Adam - enjoy your channel, especially the backroad adventures. While you are in Michigan, it would be great if you could have the opportunity to video the Mackinaw Island area, and some of the surrounding villages and lighthouses. Thanks
Love it when our favorite youtube vloggers team up and do videos together especially when you have already subscribed to them. I was so quick to click on my notification when I'd seen the names. The info and details were exceptional.
In my neck of the woods, weather sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of every month at 1:00 PM.
sad what happened to Detroit. I heard they are making a recovery which is good.
Very true! And it's starting to get documented. It's just not a "popular " subject yet.
The first Saturday of every month in the Detroit area and surrounding communities they run a test of their emergency alert system (a.k.a. the sirens). Usually between Noon and 1pm.
Sidenote = Love how you both appreciate the history of these locations. Shout out to Scott on Tape. Dig it.
Hats off to Scott on tape!
Detroit Michigan is so fascinating ....
America's comeback city!
Great video! Always awesome to see Scott, you guys make a great team. There are so many amazing thing in Detroit that I would love to see myself one day. The Gordy mansion was quite impressive. That guy got an absolute steal on it as he only paid $1.6 million. Check out pics of the inside - it is mind-blowing.
Every first Saturday of every month, the Sirens are test sound across S.E. Michigan at 1 P.M.
Great video...that Mansion was sold to a worthy resident. That way it can be kept as it has always been
The new owner is Alan Brown, a Metro Detroit native and leading researcher and management consultant in the nonprofit arts industry.
Prior to his consulting career, Alan served for five years as Executive Director of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival, where he presented Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and many other artists..
hello Adam and Scott on tape , another great Vlog as always , i really enjoyed this , well done and thank you both 😊
Loved it! I was born in Detroit! I grew up near what is known now as Brightmoor! Would love, love to see more! Thank you!
I own the home in the background at 43:06 . Abandoned 35 years and we're restoring it! I hope you got a chance to see the neighborhood around Yorba, it's beautiful. Yorba will hopefully be sold and converted into something more respectable soon.
Really fun and informative vlog! Thanks Scott on tape and Adam! ;)
Agreed! Those spots are amazing and perfect for Adam to explore.
Did anyone mention that it's the first Saturday of the month in reference to the sirens in the beginning of the video
Only about 100 times so far.
Amazing what folks read into that, eh?
hopefully, your guide mentioned the old original Tiger stadium field that was right behing the train station that you looked at. They kept the original field and added some high priced condos behind them
The last open plot there is starting development. Across Trumbull a new neighborhood, Elton Park, has been constructed.
Our town tests the tornado sirens every 1st. Monday of every month at noon.
Scott and Adam I swear are the best thing on youtube. Theres something about the two together, the chemistry is perfect
Now we know why he avoided MI for so long. Saw a robbery. If that isn't Detroit by definition, I don't know what is.
Detroit is the comeback city!
That slide was in a bunch of videos last year. It goes crazy fast. Not surprised it hasn't opened this year.
sirens could have been fire sirens some towns have sirens to alert the volunteers and ems workers
Monthly test
The woo and on tape r the best collabs
I remember watching the Aretha funeral on tv for hours and hours. Looked like people were whooping it up.
Oh my gosh...made my day! Adam & Scott!!! 😁
Alan The Who
and
Scott On Tap
It's so hilarious how when Scott tells a story, Adam just cu.
Good morning Adam. I have to say Philly Captain is your no 1 guest, but coming in at no 2 is Scot on Tape. As always very enjoyable video.Take care from Universal Jamie.
