Thanks for this. I bought mine new several years ago for a display cabinet, but now decided to run it on a new layout and it doesn't work, it's completely dead. So I'll have to take it apart and do what you did 👍

A rare one of their Westerns! Nice buy, and nice model.

Thanks you for the kinds words John .. I love these "older" Lima Models. They have noisy gears but very easy to maintain and run.
      Regards, - Anthony.

Nice video, Anthony. I'm a big fan of Lima 00 in BR blue. I have 2 of these Westerns. Once they are serviced and clean, they will last forever! M

Thank you for the kinds words. I love the Westerns as well . And Lima's are very easy and simple to maintain. The LIma's are typically noisy due to the "not so precise" plastic gears, but for me, that is part of the sound of a LIMA loco . As u said, If you service them frequently enough , they will keep going and going .
      Regards, Anthony .

Really interesting video. i have 9 Lima Westerns and the main problem is the week motor housing chassis. Can you still obtain a complete replacement chassis? The plastic seems very weak on this part of the model. You are very good at explaining the maintenance procedure. Thank you Anthony and Stay Safe.

You advise against using abrasives on the commutator, yet you use Brasso which contains abrasives. I only use IPA to clean commutators. It takes a bit longer, but doesn't damage the surface of the commutator.

Hi Henry , i use Brasso only if there are stubborn embedded residue remaining on the commutator after I clean it with contact cleaner . Further, I use it to polish the commutator so that is it smooth and free from previous brush abrasions.

Hello Anthony. Just looking your video about lima lokos. Since now I have no lima, I've no trust in this brand. It seems very cheaply built. Im searching a modell V 188, which is a double diesel loko, one of the first once ever, an I finde one - but its a lima. I found a V188 001- which is a prototype. Very interesting about this. What is your experiance about lima? Your overholding looks very solid, greetings Rainer

Hi Rainer , Sorry about the delayed reply . Just been very busy with work . Well , Here is my view on Lima . They are not a high end brand by any means . The gearwheels that they use aren't very precise and clean from plastic mold marks .. As a result the loco's are very noisy. Even the detailing is not the best . Having said that , the reason why I have quite a few Lima's is because their motors are very simple and easy to service . and if you service them , these motors and loco's will keep running and running . Of course they don't run smooth like Roco's or Brawa's or Hag or Fleischmann etc .. They are noisy but very easy to keep them in running condition .. So I typically use them as my daily runners , kind of like my work horses ..
      Regards,
      Anthony .
