Just got one for my mom. The screen size is smaller than her old 27" iMac, but that doesn't make as much of a difference to her, fortunately. She chose the blue color option, and it looks great in her office. I helped her set it up. Simple instructions, and transferring data from old to new was easy. I'm looking forward to your more detailed review. Thank you for this first impressions video.

Honestly…. I replaced my MacBook with my iPad Pro 12.9 M1. My base station is an iMac M1 with 16GB of ram. Paired with my iPhone 15 Pro Max…. It’s actually a great combo! This channel and others have really made me realize how much I really can do on my iPad when on the go. If I need my Mac while I’m out of town… I just remote in since I have a cellular iPad Pro. I don’t think I’ll upgrade my iMac this go round…. But next, yes!

@@dotapark Once you change your perspective on what iPadOS is and what it isn’t. You’ll find that you can get a lot of your daily task accomplished with iPadOS, at least when you’re on the go. I found that it was sometimes easier and more simple to accomplish basic photo edits or stream a video or even type of a document with my keyboard attachment on my iPad. Ultimately, I decided that because I was paying per month for my cellular iPad, I should make it more of a priority to use versus the MacBook that I already paid off, so to me it came down to finances and ultimately I’ve really been enjoying relearning what an iPad can be

I’ve had iMacs since September 1998 and the original Bondi Blue 233MHz G3, and have owned every model except the boob.
I ordered this one 5 minutes after the Apple event to replace a 27” iMac with a 21” Cinema Display. I am using Sidecar to link it with my iPad Pro and I LOVE IT!! Yes - the monitors are smaller, but my workspace feels far more streamlined, efficient and productive and I don’t miss the bigger screens at all. I had a powerful simple workspace before, and this is just so much better. Can’t recommend enough!

Your section "What's this for" was really good and the key to all this.
My case: software developer working from home, who likes minimal and clean setups.
I have 2 work laptops (my company and client), a Lenovo ThinkPad and a cheap Dell, paired with a 27" 1440p Dell monitor.
The office setup is in my living room.
I didn't want to have my personal setup in the living room as well, with the office and TV, too many screens.
The second room is a gym.
I didn't want to have my personal setup in my bedroom either...but the iMac 24 was so clean, 1 cable setup, speakers and webcam included, so thin, that it's almost unnoticiable in my room, it's perfect.
The iMac was my first Apple device, and I love it.
As a note, I now have the MBA15 M2 as well that I bought when it released, as I needed something on the go. So, my iMac became a bit redundant. Since I work with my work laptops and game on my Xbox Series S, I don't have much time to use the iMac but I still love it and will keep it for years to come.
The MBA15 is awesome, but the screen real state of the iMac, the speakers, the better posture when I get to sit and study/work properly, It's awesome.

Here’s the thing - if you are a professional that *requires* a more powerful Mac, than you chose wrong if you pick this up. On the other hand, for just about anyone else - this is a great computer. It’s thin and light, so it can be moved from room to room if you so desire. It’s attractive, as it can fit into your space in a synergistic way, as opposed to be against all your other design choices. You only need ONE cable for everything, so you don’t end up with annoying cable clutter.
For a lot of people, that is an attractive option for people wanting a capable computer without having something that sticks out like a sore thumb in your home or office.

Chris, thanks for the intro. I have a late 2013 27-inch iMac with 24gig RAM and boots from a Samsung external SSD. I also have an older Macbook and 2021 iPad Pro. While the MacOS (Catalina) doesn't allow me to do some of the cool things that can be done with a newer Mac and OS, it works well for 90% of what I need. I've thought about the new iMac, but even though the resolution is better, I really think I'd miss the 27-inch display. Thoughts?

Currently we have a iMac M1 with 16 Gb RAM and 1TB SSD which easily handles everything we throw at it, like simultaneous using several online productivity applications, having 50 tabs open in Chrome, editing videos in Camtasia, LumaFusion, CapCut and more.
On Monday we’ll expecting our newest additions: iMac M3( 24/1 TB), MacBook Air M2 (16/512 Gb) and MacBook Pro M3 Pro (11 core/18/2TB).

The problem with most external monitors is that the scaling looks like crap. While Apple does have the Studio Display I personally think the Studio Display is a ripoff, I'd rather get a beefed up M3 iMac with upgrades to the memory and SSD storage than pay for that. I'm seriously considering selling my M1 Pro MBP, and doing an iMac at home and switching to an iPad Pro for portability. So instead of Macbook Pro for everything just do iMac + iPad

Hi Chris, David here from Australia. Great video as always and you make some very good points in defence Apple iMac, 2023 model
And I agree with you that these are beautiful in design and there is much you could do to upgrade this machine other than slapping processor as Apple has gone. I feel like could have done a touch more in the upgrades department to entice people like me to buy what is essentially the same design, but just with a more powerful processor it slapped into it
Now I know it his Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3 and once I know there’s not really that much you could do with a machine like this I believe they could’ve at Offered to upgrade the unified memory from 8 GB to 16 GB as well as upgrade the present SSD Drive that was in your present. iMac to the next level
In other words, I have a 512 GB SSD upgraded to the 1terabite version for $150 more and the memory upgrade would make up the other $150.00
As said above, I’m from Australia and the prices are a little bit more expensive than they are in the United States, I don’t say that Apple should offer this all year around but they should’ve at least offered it for the first three months after iMacs launch.
In other words, Apple saying you tell us the present configuration you have, and for $300 more we will upgrade your present memory and is ssd drive For around $300 more offer good for three months, after that, it go back to the price that Apple has set. Now that would have got me to at least think about upgrading.
