Absolutely and I had no idea until then that McCluskey recorded it as a new version with OMD. Sounds good but the original was perfect... just like the machine.
Andy was sublime on "Enola Gay" from the same night, but seems a little rough around the edges on this one. In fairness, it's a tricky number to sing, and he had only just started performing it live. The summer versions were much stronger.
Funny sandy chose to replace the original lady voice speaking in the middle of the song with one speaking German. I assume the lyrics are still the same?
with all that money he payed for that (synth) you'd think he would use a better voice on the synth for the melody? sounds like he's playing on a £50 pound keyboard from Argos?
well the song is from 1991 and the sounds are created by Karl Bartos from Kraftwerk. So if you change those sounds you change the whole song and its spirit
@@strychnyne3530 Andy McCluskey was co-writer and vocalist on the Bartos original, though. His 2013 reworking, under the OMD banner, has become the definitive version.
This one of OMD`s weakest songs, Andy has a habit of picking something crap to play when they are on TV-it wasn`t a single or on any OMD album until they reformed. It`s one of Andy`s dreadful nursery rhyme style songs.
The greatest electronic pop act ever, I never get tired of listening to these boys
Don Wilson me neither
@@debz4722 I never get tired of them either. I love this song.
With Kraftwerk
Kissing the Machine was originally written by Bartos and OMD's Andy McCluskey for the Esperanto album back in 1993.
Wow!!! Stupendo!!!! Dal vivo....non ho parole. Super!!!
Love this song...takes me back to my childhood, when my biggest problem was which tree I was gonna climb.
Esperanto was and still is one of my favourites
I prefer the version on that LP
I love how still emotional his singing is ^____^
Get well soon mal he's the guy who taught me everything I know and is honestly the greatest guy I ever met
Love this song. Love Andy's voice ❤️🤩
Brilliant live performance...great album...met the guys in May in Glasgow....what a pleasure...get well soon Malcolm :-)
Love the original version. Love the English Electric version.
Orchestral Manoeuvres rock da house. Tune in to the Melody.
OMD still proving they can do a good tune. This one puts me in mind of a song called Furtwangler by Fagin's Boys.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
They performed Dresden that night, unfortunately, youtube has blocked it.
this song is taken from the album "Esperanto" by Elektric Music (Karl Bartos, ex kraftwerk) if i'm not mistaken
Yes, but McCluskey co-wrote and sang it.

Ihr seit so gut
nice to see others artists appreciate their music
Fantastic!!!!
Not heard this before. Nice.

A later favourite .
Well said Jane
Big OMD fan also and Bartos's new album is great also if you don't have it. Wasn't sure if you knew the song connection with McCluskey.
Can you upload Dresden too? Thanks so much for the 3 videos though!
Yeah, didn't wanted to sound like I was taking McCluskey out of the ecuation, OMD is great, I'm a big fan
Funny sandy chose to replace the original lady voice speaking in the middle of the song with one speaking German. I assume the lyrics are still the same?
Well, Paul Humphreys and Andrew McCluskey are "the face" of OMD.
Kissing the Handy.😗
The first version on Esperanto is much better.
interesting choice of songs they played here. I think they could have chosen much better tracks considering they are on this kind of show.

Daniel Klöpper I thought this was an original omd song. thanks for the info.

Ja ich finde es auch sehr gut

Wonderful...!!
