Back in the late 80s, when I was in high school and had just started listening to classical music, I watched a Bach documentary that featured a clip of this performance. Years passed, and my only recollection of it was that of a beautiful woman singing the section that starts at 19:30. What a pleasant surprise it is to experience its beauty again, sweetened with nostalgia -- and a cup of coffee, of course!
My experience of this production was uncannily similar. I happened to catch the latter part of it on German television in (circa) 1994 (it was broadcast on the ZDF network one Sunday morning). I teared up during the aria you allude to ("Heute noch") and remember leaving the room to avoid embarrassment. I made a mental note of the principal performers but soon forgot who any of them were. I spent years attempting in vain to track down a recording. I saw the same clip in the documentary you mention (it was "The Stations of Bach", which I balked at buying a copy of because of its three-figure price tag), found a VHS cassette on which I had recorded it, and was bitterly disappointed to discover that the recording did not include the final credits. It wasn't until a few years ago that I was able to identify the production with some deft Googling about. And then it was posted here.
It's always gratifying to find traces of a kindred spirit in this increasingly crowded and ever lonelier world.
The best execution ever. It reminds me of opera buffa: I love the part when Lieschen check if her father is sleeping. So great!

Einem alten Witz nach brauchte die DDR ein Kultusministerium so sehr wie die Schweiz eines für die Marine. Wenn man unter Kultur unbedingt etwas spontanes verstehen möchte, dann ist diese Auffassung vielleicht realistisch. Doch die staatlich unterstützte nicht-spontane Kultur war in der ehemaligen DDR auf einem sehr hohen Niveau.

And being born in Meissen, I of course also fancy the decoration of coffee sets of famous Meissen porcelain, the shape is called „Neuer Ausschnitt“ and the decor is the well-known „Zwiebelmuster“ (Onion patterns), the name originates from the pomegranate in this pattern, that was unknown to most people and mistaken for an onion.
As I was a child, I visited DDR with my parents ( als offi3ielle politische Gäste, während unseres Urlaubs). Ich errinere mich wohl daran wenn wir Meissen besichtigten, das Por3ellanmuseum. Unsere Gastgeber bemerkten unsere Bewunderung und boten uns ein wunderbares komplettes Kaffeeservice aus blau-goldenem Meissener Porzellan an ! Spâter bin ich wieder in der DDR gereist - aber mit einer Gruppe fran3ösicher Junge - und wieder in Meissen gewesen, aber kein pre3iöses Kaffeeservice...die Stadt war auch schön...Und die Sächsiche Schwei3 ! Alles ist ja vorbei !

Tinha em vinil LP nos anos 80 e com encarte com letras e alta qualidade sonora, J.S. Bach é o kara, acho que era da Archiv Produktion

¿No sabes? El café llegó a Europa desde el imperio otomano y el mundo musulmán, y claro, al principio se consideró una bebida "de moros" y "de Satanás". Hubo mucha polémica e incluso peleas por las calles, hasta que todo el jaleo llegó a oídos del Papa. Éste, para saber por qué demonios una simple bebida tenía a media Europa enfrentada, ordenó que le sirvieran un café para probarlo. Tomó un par de sorbos y le gustó mucho, así que dijo: "No es justo que esta bebida esté reservada a los musulmanes. Así pues, si es bebida musulmana, bauticémosla como cristiana y adoptémosla como nuestra". Y desde entonces el café en Europa se aceptó y se normalizó. De ahí el motivo de la disputa entre padre e hija.
