Yes she is!. The oboe da caccia is played by Andreas Helm, who also plays the same instrument in another equally superb version of this cantata on RUclips - Gachinger Kantorei with Hans Christoph Rademann and Dorothee Mields as soprano soloist.
"Meine (Schweizer Bach-) Familie" - auf der Bühne und im Publikum. So viele wohlbekannte Gesichter. Schön, voriges Jahr beim Leipziger Bachfest mit einigen davon ins Gespräch gekommen zu sein. (Eigentlich überflüssig, anzumerken, dass auch BWV 74 maximal wundervoll gelungen ist.)
Was mich immer wieder fasziniert bei Bach, wenn ein Text lieblich ist, dann ist auch die Melodie lieblich, die menschlichen Stimme imitierend folgt die Intonation den mit Liebe geauesserten Worten, der gesprochenen Sprache und dies sehr geschmackvoll, stilvoll und vor allem: ueberzeugend und auf beeindruckende Weise nachvollzieh- und unmittelbar erlebbar - in komponierte Musik uebertragen. Man koennte sagen, unsere Sprache ist der erste Grad von Musik, komponierte Sprache in Form von Noten und koordinierter Mehrstimmigkeit der zweite Grad von Musik. Bach transportiert alle Gefuehlszustaende, truebe Gedanken und Gefuehlszustsende eher in tieferen Tonlagen und bestimmten geeigneteren Tonarten, auch die Rythmik dazu passend und umgekehrt fuer heitere Passagen. Wiederholungen sind gut abgemessen. Langeweile ist bei mir noch nie aufgekommen. Und zu guter Letzt: auch in jedem Stueck Bachscher Musik ohne Textunterlage steckt viel Liebe und Leidenschaft. Das uebertraegt sich auf uns: gutes Handwerk und Intuition und Hinwendung hin zum Uebermenschlichen. Selbst Humor und Selbstironie bleiben dabei nicht aus. Sehr sympathisch. :-)

Jahr zu Jahr, Kantate nach Kantaten immer kammermusikalischer, rundlicher, harmonischer. Sehr zum geniessen. A propos: Schön wäre es, wenn die Orchester-Solisten auch genannt werden könnten: Eva, Lenka, Plamena, Maya, Katharina, Györgyi... - sie sind alle grossartige Musikerinnen. Ihre Solo-Parten sind oft wesentlich virtuoser als diese der SängerInnen. Das Erwähnen ihrer Namen verdienen sie wirklich.
As an alto, I strongly disagree. I wasn’t looking at the screen during the alto recitative and (after the octave interval) remarked to my husband “She’s got some range.” When he replied “He, not she,” I was amazed. Being quite familiar with famous countertenors like Peter Pears, I think I can fairly dispute your snarky response.
@@Bachstiftung. My aural perception is that the timbre of the countertenor voice sounds artificial as compared to the more natural sound of a female alto. As a brass player the same notes on a flugelhorn are different than the trumpet. Many applications where one or the other does not sound appealing. Not quite the same, but if your violist played the violin part out of a higher position the timbre would be off. Totally personal preference for me, and perhaps not “historically informed’, but you have a host of spectacular altos who regularly appear with your ensemble

Nein, es ist ein normales Cello ohne Bünde, aber schon oft bespielt ...!

I like both male and female altos. There's room for both in Bachland!
