Also Titan Warrior is a diesel and it would be at least 2,000lbs heavier than Raptor. It's already been proven in reviews that the new Raptor can go from rock crawling to high speed desert racing, Ram Rebel TRX would be better competition for the Raptor
I've owned trucks all of my life all different brands, all V8. I've always been the type of guy that if I don't enjoy a vehicle I get rid of it quickly. I purchased the 2018 Raptor a little over a month ago and here's what I think. First off, it obviously doesn't have the V8 rumble, however to say this thing doesn't have a nice rumble sound is inaccurate. When I remote start it from inside my house, you can feel the vibrations and hear the rumble. I predict if you put on a nice aggressive catback exhaust system you would have 80% of your V8 rumble. Secondly, this thing is FAST. It feels more like my old Mustang Cobra then a truck. You just can't get a true feel for it's speed and torque without driving it. What I like most is that when you make a turn or something and you have to lower your speed instead of kinda slowly getting back to speed you can get their instantly like a true performance car. When the twin turbos kick in it's just an amazing feeling. Thirdly, it's one of the most advanced stock off roads trucks ever. This thing will handle 99% of whatever you throw at it. If you're planning to do HEAVY off roading I think almost any truck on the market should have a few mods done and that includes the Raptor. Finally, at first I hated the idea of the V6. I'm a real man! I want a V8! That is of course until you realize your driving faster then nearly every truck on the market and yet still managing 18-20 mpg. Currently, I have 1.2k miles on my truck and the overall average MPG is 19.2. Let me repeat that....19.2 for a truck that does the 0-60 in about 5.2 seconds. This is one nasty truck. I'll likely keep this one for a long long time. If a car maker comes out with a V8 truck that is fast and still maintains decent gas mileage (for what it is), and doesn't surpass the $70K(ish) price point... then I will reconsider my purchase. Until then, I'm a Raptor guy and very happy thus far.
I just purchased a 2018 Raptor about a month ago. It's amazing and I love it! With that being said. How are you getting that kind of gas mileage? I drive it very conservatively for the most part and I'm getting 13 mpg.
I’ve had my 2017 Raptor for over a year and a half and I just can’t stop loving it, it’s a gorgeous truck that gets crazy attention from Everyone and I’ve even caught a few people taking pictures of it when I’ve pulled up to gas stations and restaurants
Soo now its 2022 what truck u got now bc they got a TRX TRUCK IS NASTY with 702 HP and they got a new 2023 700HP raptor so u thinking to get another one?
Matt McPherson That overpriced 6x6 is no match for the 2017 Ford Raptor, it will dominate that 6x6 on and offroad guaranteed. That vehicle weighs 8500lbs lmao like a damn school bus and the ridiculous price tag of that 6x6 (500k) makes the Raptor shine even more lol
Matt McPherson Dude the Raptor is as fast as a sports car, 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. It can do 80mph on rough terrain. That 6x6 takes like 8 seconds to reach 60mph lol The Raptor blows its fucking doors off guaranteed.
george palacios lol, u know the tundra pro raced Baja and won 1St place in full stock class back on 2015. The raptor tried to compete and his frame bent halfway. In 2016 raptor raced in a different class because it couldn't handle
As a Gen 1 owner, those who downplay this truck for not having a V8... I pity you. As a complete package, this machine is superior in every way. Power, efficiency, technology, feel, handling, construction, performance. This is a fantastic truck.
The 10 gears were for better fuel economy. Instead of riding like at 3500 rpm at what the 6th gear burning gas it has 10 so it can ride the lower rpms to help better mileage
The Raptor is definitely one of the coolest trucks out there, but I wouldn't get one because I'm not a dedicated off road guy, and I also need a truck that can tow an RV. But seriously, the Raptor is freaking awesome!
You don't review a truck the same way you review a car - especially a truck like the Raptor. Lets hear about the tow and payload capacity. Lets hear about off road capabilities; crawl control, suspension travel, diff locks etc etc.
RP isn't a truck guy. A video like this about on road driving is a nice change of pace from the normal truck reviews. You can easily look up other videos or the towing specs.....
side note but relevant to the depreciation talk...my buddy TODAY just bought a 2016 Z06, black on black with 24,000 miles on it that was 110,000 brand new. he paid 65,000 for it in fresno ca. talk about depreciation...and 2017s z0s, gs, etc are discounted 15k just tryin to get em off the lot.
I'm glad to hear you mention the depreciation aspect to ownership. If you buy into vehicles with very low depreciation overtime (if you're fine with a monthly payment) you can move up in vehicle exclusivity pretty easily. Thinking about selling my wrangler privately and moving into this platform.
FUN FACTS : Aluminum Ford was engineered by Chrysler Employee's.. Yes,in the late 90's Daimler let go of a lot of Chrysler engineers and they went to Ford,to work on Aluminum vehicles for the future, since the Plymouth Prowler was all Aluminum..Frame,body all Aluminum.. Eco Boost engine was engineered by X Chrysler employee's Yes,again a load of Chrysler engineers went to Ford,Chrysler had Turbo 4 cyl engines in the 1980's and 1990's...That technology went to Ford.. Chrysler had 224 hp 2.2 4cyl Turbo in the early 1990's in some Dodge models..They even had a Turbo 4 cyl with 350 plus hp,but they didnt have a transmission that could handle the power, this was the late 1980's and front wheel drive was fairly new to American cars, hell no import fwd had that power with a small 4cyl TURBO 4 cyl ! Ford guys will not believe this, but they are always in denial.. FYI,I own Ford's,MOPAR,GM and a Porsche...Car collector and High end classic car/exotic car dealer owner !
01trsmar This makes no sense at all. Why does it matter if those engineers worked for Chrysler? And if Chrysler let them go then they wouldn't be Chrysler employees anymore so the aluminum fords weren't designed by Chrysler engineers they were designed by just plain engineers. And the Ecoboost was developed by Ford in the UK so you are wrong on that one as well.
What type of gas does it use? I mean does it require the 91 fuel at the pump. Well...err the most expensive gas. I've been debating whether or not to purchase the 2018 version, but would definitely be a deal breaker if it uses the most expensive fuel.
Personally: I rarely tow (but it's nice to have the capability), cargo capacity, on the other hand, really matters to me, and with the Raptor...four people, luggage, and camping equipment puts us pretty near the GVWR. Honestly, that is probably enough for me, but I am used to much more from my old F-250 (2800 lbs)! I don't like the idea of being near the max w/ four adults and a fifty-pound bag for each person.
Reeling N' Revving yes you are right but you are also wrong, its tuned way differently and its a high output motor compared to the regular 3.5 ecoboost, keep in mind these are twin turbo motors not regular v6s, raptor makes 450hp/510 lb ft torque, regular 3.5 ecoboost can make anywhere from 365 to 385 hp with 420 or 470 lb ft torque, the raptor should be a few tenths of a second faster, regular 3.5 eb 0-60 is 5.7 this one should do it in the 5.1-5.4 range.
Reeling N' Revving yeah anything in the 5s is insane for a truck, if you want to see something even more bonkers check out the shelby f150, it has 700hp and I believe its a supercharged 5.0 v8 but dont quote me on that, that truck is a low 4 second truck.
Its a great truck that is for sure but Ford missed the point on the engine. Some buyers want the big V8 especially current and former Raptor owners but other buyers used to Turbocharged imports are used to it and like it, however don't kid yourself the Eco-boost sucks on gas just like the 6.2. The sound of the V6 even with Turbo's is just week. If Dodge builds that concept they will steal buyers because of the Hemi. Just a thought, could you imagine this new Raptor with the GT350's 5.2 flat-plane crank, hell yea
CG4Ut the power wagon isn't really a good competitor considering there to completely different truck like the raptor is more a Daja truck n the power wagon is more of a rock crawler
trucker_ sierra but a Rebel is comparable? No. This is a purpose built off roading machine. The Power Wagon is a purpose built off roading machine. TFL Trucks did a Moab course with both. Besides HP #, Torque #, and acceleration the Power Wagon beat the Raptor. If you have 70k to get either go ahead, but the Rebel is still not the competitor to the Raptor.
The Rebel TRX is the competitor of the Raptor it has the HellCat supercharged V8 in it that will product 545HP should be showing at the State Fair in Texas come Sept.
Kevin Wilson so I can go buy the Rebel TRX right now? No I can't. The Rebel in its current form is not the competitor.... the Power Wagon is and if you want you can even throw a Supercharger on it to give it that power to Baja a little bit quicker.
CG4Ut TFL compares truck for mpg and daily drive ability and you do realize I said "isn't really a good competitor" people compare them but they both are built to do two different types of offroading. But as is the only truck close to the raptor is the power wagon and let's be honest (the raptor is better)
My first vehicle was a truck. Man i miss driving one the height gave more security on the road. Theres just a thing about being able to see more of the road.
Hope he doesn't start getting rust on the undercarriage and interior untreated metal behind the rear seats like my 16' F150 has with only 3k miles on it!
I won't lie, I knew that the smaller engine is to save weight yet still perform. I guess I didn't look at it from an off roading perspective. But damn, the sound of a V8 would be awesome
No its not...as a Ford fan and a 13 Raptor owner. I test drove a 17 and looks and interior design is better, the larger tires are better, features are better...however the V6 twin turbo is not fitting to this raptor...hey make it a option between a 6 or a 8 , but their needs to be a V8 option for those who are antiquated to the V8 sound and performance
Everyone throwing bullshit comments at this beast because their little chevtards have little to no power compared to this and they just wanna complain because they can never own a truck with this much power
RP Productions you obviously have not seen the almost ready for showtime Dodge Ram Rebel TRX with the Hellcat Engine that will be a 2018 model,. The regular Rebel is not a competitor of the Raptor however the Rebel TRX will be. Go to FIA youtube channel you can see it on the test track and driving about.
Kevin Wilson definitely not. It's more of a competitor to something like the Tundra TRD Pro, or maybe even the F-150 with the FX4 package, or a Silverado with a Z71 package.
lmfao to the people that act like "there's nothing special about this truck", go watch Motor Trend's head 2 head of this and the RAM equivalent, the raptor destroys it in every way. It's a highly capable piece of machinery that is good all around and not focused in one area over the other. This is the truck equivalent of the GT350/GT350R, can't beat it for the price
never seen a amazing truck like this get hated on by people that will never drive it. Ford got the pickup game on lock
and suv
kingsun122 wait till Nissan drop the titan warrior.
Sebastian Nicolas lol maybe Titan XD but not the warrior trust me on that.
Titan warrior is just a concept, just like the Ram Rebel TRX.
You can actually buy a Raptor
Also Titan Warrior is a diesel and it would be at least 2,000lbs heavier than Raptor.
It's already been proven in reviews that the new Raptor can go from rock crawling to high speed desert racing, Ram Rebel TRX would be better competition for the Raptor
Even if you hate Ford, you cannot hate this truck.
Just look at that beast.
Why ford gets hate

Wuss
Soo now its 2022 what truck u got now bc they got a TRX TRUCK IS NASTY with 702 HP and they got a new 2023 700HP raptor so u thinking to get another one?
Looking at a 2017 Raptor, would you still own or would you recommend it now?
Raptor is the king of trucks, no other oem truck can match its power, on road and off road performance, luxury and looks. Another homerun by Ford.
Matt McPherson That overpriced 6x6 is no match for the 2017 Ford Raptor, it will dominate that 6x6 on and offroad guaranteed.
That vehicle weighs 8500lbs lmao like a damn school bus and the ridiculous price tag of that 6x6 (500k) makes the Raptor shine even more lol

and ended up in 4th I think
I have this truck and it’s a blessing from the man up above.
I don’t care what people say I am still going to get one the first time I saw the raptor I fell in love with the truck
To the haters of the Ecoboost:
Sound doesn't win you at anything
Electric no it dosnt but it's silly to enhance the sound to make it feel beefier
As a Gen 1 owner, those who downplay this truck for not having a V8... I pity you. As a complete package, this machine is superior in every way. Power, efficiency, technology, feel, handling, construction, performance. This is a fantastic truck.
V6? Lol try trx

Great video dude... I like the hints on the truck being a smart purchase

These are AMAZING - my buddy has one and its very nice.
Probably the best pickup truck in the world
The only Truck I’ve ever really wanted
Best Raptor! Me And My Family Were Getting The Ranger Raptor In Philippines As Well! 👍
That is such a badass truck !
Saw one in person the other day, looks amazing, sound is better than on videos but it's still a v6, a v8 sounds 10 times better
Tyler Chambers I
Fuck the sound, This thing has so much fun factor you will forget about the sound note.
I drove this truck once it got me addicted
Finally got me one this year man the best truck i ever had.
You don't review a truck the same way you review a car - especially a truck like the Raptor. Lets hear about the tow and payload capacity. Lets hear about off road capabilities; crawl control, suspension travel, diff locks etc etc.
Don Pablo can't tow or haul anything...
if you want to learn about towing with your raptor go to www.towingwithyourraptor.info
Tow rating for crew cab Raptor is up to 8,000 lbs and payload is up to 1200 lbs
RP isn't a truck guy. A video like this about on road driving is a nice change of pace from the normal truck reviews. You can easily look up other videos or the towing specs.....
Drotography I agree and you also don't buy a raptor to tow...

I was all about getting an 04 cobra. However, these 2nd gens may take its place.
8:49 intill the ram rebel trx comes out if they build it
ram reble trx hope the build it
I don't even like trucks like that but gotdamn this truck is a beast
this truck have everything i want
this the dream truck right here
This review is old and I'm finally about to buy a 2017 raptor
What the starting price for a raptor and would it make a good first vehicle for teens and is it reliable and whats the insurance cost
What's up with the V-6 turbo? Where's the V-8???!!!

Wait a year after they fix out all the bugs. After that it’ll be great since the whole new engine was designed to fix the old eco boost problems.
im getting on for real thats my next truck
Just bought mine 2 weeks ago Its amazing one of the best trucks I have ever owned
This is LITERALLY the first thing i'm buying when I hit the lottery! Not a lambo, not a ferrari, not an aston martin.
Is it water tight ?
Also not mentioned in the video is that it came with an option for factory loading ramps
Great video though
great review man was looking forward to it ....
ford should be making a new ford lighting svt but it needs to have a V8
Any review video for the Ram you expect to get this summer? Before you get it
Yep I've got some Ram goodies planned soon!
The ford is the best truck in the world
Review an R/T ram with an 8 speed
pos
And how is that?
I had a dodge truck once. Convinced me to never buy a Chrysler product again (except maybe a jeep)
James Smith no one cares
I had an r/t it was a badass little truck
every time you get into a ford you got next to no complaints.
What type of gas does it use? I mean does it require the 91 fuel at the pump. Well...err the most expensive gas. I've been debating whether or not to purchase the 2018 version, but would definitely be a deal breaker if it uses the most expensive fuel.
Dude If ur worried about gas prices Then maybe u should think about buying a cheaper truck Not haten just sayn
But no u can run regular gas out of it
Cheap skate crying about gas
Go buy a 4 cylinder suv or a hybrid
Personally: I rarely tow (but it's nice to have the capability), cargo capacity, on the other hand, really matters to me, and with the Raptor...four people, luggage, and camping equipment puts us pretty near the GVWR. Great review🤙🏽
Would you get this truck instead of the Dodge Ram you planing to get?
This truck is too expensive it's like buying a new camaro zl1
Sky Trooper but like he said is worth it .
I'd get one if I could afford one comfortably! But honestly I don't need everything the Raptor has to offer.
its not that expensive dude
Truck is sick. Review a Ford SVT Lightning if you ever get the chance.
Doesn't the new regular f150 EcoBoost have the same engine? Cause I think they have the same 0-60 if I'm correct
And I really love the previous raptor better
Reeling N' Revving yes you are right but you are also wrong, its tuned way differently and its a high output motor compared to the regular 3.5 ecoboost, keep in mind these are twin turbo motors not regular v6s, raptor makes 450hp/510 lb ft torque, regular 3.5 ecoboost can make anywhere from 365 to 385 hp with 420 or 470 lb ft torque, the raptor should be a few tenths of a second faster, regular 3.5 eb 0-60 is 5.7 this one should do it in the 5.1-5.4 range.
niga police oh ok thanks for the correction I was wondering since there both equally pretty quick for a truck.
Reeling N' Revving yeah anything in the 5s is insane for a truck, if you want to see something even more bonkers check out the shelby f150, it has 700hp and I believe its a supercharged 5.0 v8 but dont quote me on that, that truck is a low 4 second truck.
niga police yah seen some around my area before and yah those things are fast and yah It's some sort of supercharged v8.
Have you drove a range rover
Idc this truck is Bad ass
Its a great truck that is for sure but Ford missed the point on the engine. Some buyers want the big V8 especially current and former Raptor owners but other buyers used to Turbocharged imports are used to it and like it, however don't kid yourself the Eco-boost sucks on gas just like the 6.2. Good thing I still own a certified Raptor killer!
the only thing you own is debt
You need to get your hands on a Ford F-150 Shelby!!! And do a review about that !
It's 2024 and I'm actually looking at one right now.
To each his/her own I suppose. I'm a Gen 1 SVT person myself. Mine is a 2010. It has the 6.2 V8.
A Raptor is a Raptor is a Raptor, but you know....
Ram Power Wagon is the competitor to the Raptor not the Rebel if you're talking off road capability which is what both trucks are made for.
Nice truck, but it sounds like an import. Lol I already miss the old 6.2L V8.
Don't like fords or V6's, but damn I would buy this without even test driving
My first vehicle was a truck. Man i miss driving one the height gave more security on the road. Theres just a thing about being able to see more of the road.
Hope he doesn't start getting rust on the undercarriage and interior untreated metal behind the rear seats like my 16' F150 has with only 3k miles on it!
I am getting one soon can't wait
I think it's fucking cool as hell
The GMC 2500hd Denali takes the cake..
Crazy how close the 10-spd ratios are, almost seems like a racing dogbox or sequential at WOT! Great review :)
i get goosebumps!!!
"LIT"
iCLUTCH shut up gay boy
Dalton Turner 214 😘
You did a review of a Raptor on the road... Here's your sign.
this Is a 3gen 3.5L 2gen was 6.2L and the first was a 5.4L 😰
God I would Love to have this Truck
Awesome truck? Yes! Smart purchase? Not even close!
I'm more of a Dodge guy. But i got to give it up to Ford they got the truck market on lock!
Just love it
Great truck.
THE KING OF TRUCKS=====FORD F-150
Name doesn't check out
Good Job!
Awesome video!!
why isn't it a V8 or at least have a V8 option
Sulaymaan Kaka way to fucking heavy for Baja running and off roading. you will loose a lot of you speed on dirt
I won't lie, I knew that the smaller engine is to save weight yet still perform. I guess I didn't look at it from an off roading perspective. But damn, the sound of a V8 would be awesome
Sulaymaan Kaka yeah I'll miss the sound too but I got a chance to use the new and old. and I had way better performance off road in the v6.
Jaikar Chatha you lucky fish, I hadn't got a chance to drive any of them yet =D =D also I'm now convinced you know what you're talking about
I love the stance
No its not...as a Ford fan and a 13 Raptor owner. I test drove a 17 and looks and interior design is better, the larger tires are better, features are better...however the V6 twin turbo is not fitting to this raptor...hey make it a option between a 6 or a 8 , but their needs to be a V8 option for those who are antiquated to the V8 sound and performance
Everyone throwing bullshit comments at this beast because their little chevtards have little to no power compared to this and they just wanna complain because they can never own a truck with this much power
IM GETTING MINE IN OCTOBER 😎!!
Real nice review but I just want to know the location of the video. I really enjoyed all the green in the background 😊
I'm here to find out what color of blue that is so I can paint my 1997 Dodge Ram.
I'm not a extreme V8-oholic, but it would be nice if it had a V8.
Donovan personally if I had the money I'd swap an lt4 or something like that into it.
V8 is inferior to the current engine.
Kevin Wilson it's an FCA product. It won't last long, especially for something that will be over 100k
I can't disagree with you there, my deal was that the current Rebel is not a true competitor of the current raptor.
Kevin Wilson definitely not. It's more of a competitor to something like the Tundra TRD Pro, or maybe even the F-150 with the FX4 package, or a Silverado with a Z71 package.
Graham Clarence I’ve had 3 rams and none have ever given me a single issue
Whatever happen RAPTOR is the BEAST like TRX , now I’m going to Purchase tomorrow used Raptor coz it’s Cheaper!
the video is a bit staticy
I love this truck but I also love the dodge ram trx 1500 2020
Nice video!!
Dream car

lmfao to the people that act like "there's nothing special about this truck", go watch Motor Trend's head 2 head of this and the RAM equivalent, the raptor destroys it in every way. It's a highly capable piece of machinery that is good all around and not focused in one area over the other. This is the truck equivalent of the GT350/GT350R, can't beat it for the price
Hello
Should be your next truck
great truck but ford is probably making a ten to 15,000 dollar profit on it if not more so its really overpriced.
I'm a chevy guy but :( i have to love the raptor... (besides the v6) no doubting the capabilities, i just prefer a v8.
This truck would be even more badass if t was higher up and blacked out
