There WAS "2 camps": One that did HEROIN and OPIOIDS, the other did not. By "drugs", Dave SPECIFICALLY meant HEROIN.
When Grohl said there are two camps to Nirvana: the drug camp and the sober camp, I always wondered where Pat Smear fell? He hung out with Kurt a lot. Was he a part of the drug camp?
When a former seattle chief of police from that era indicates that the curbain "suicide" should be re investigated I think that says something....just a hunch

As Kurdts guitar tech, I'd say ol Earnie here had one of the hardest jobs in Rock n Roll just trying to keep a playable guitar in Kurdts hands despite Kurdts penchant for destroying his guitars with gleeful abandon on most nights even if it was a pawn shop decoy that usually got wrecked on stage for the encore.
The only other guy in the rock roadie pantheon of greatness to top Earnie is that guy who had to blow cocaine up Stevie Nicks" asshole with a straw. True story. True Rock n Roll Warrior.

Charles Peterson mentioned about the thought of all of a sudden this doesn’t belong to us anymore kinda reminded me of Kyuss and the generator parties. MTV came up to Kyuss and asked to film the generator parties they used to throw and Kyuss refused. The reason being was that that was theirs, it belonged to them only.

poor Earnie....he's trying to be so polite about Kurt. of course , Kurt wanted fame. he wanted money, to get out of Aberdeen, Olympia. but he wanted fame where he could go on tour, have money, and have a "normal" life. once NIRVANA-mania blew up, that was impossible. I think Charles Peterson sat with Alice Wheeler at the memorial service.
He wanted to make $3 million and stay home forever shooting dope and painting. Everyone else wanted different things.

Suicide or not, I just hope he's at peace and happy. He lives forever in his music. Kurt Cobain's daughter is gorgeous and beautiful and would be so proud of her.
I remember where I was when I heard Kurt died. I was 15 years old. I almost got into a fight out on the street with some guy. I go inside a friends house and the ASN news (Maritimes in Canada) at 10 pm led off with him dying. I go home and Much Music had a weekend dedicated to him. I remember recording it on my VHS.
I always wondered how he would have fared over the years. I think he would have went underground but would have became popular again at an older age like Johnny Cash. I think Nirvana would have broken up but would have reformed for a benefit show like the Tsunami in Thailand in 2005 or for 9/11.
It would have been cool to hear Kurt sing Foo songs like Exhausted, Alone and Easy Target, Weenie Beanie and Good Grief. Grohl would have formed Foo Fighters eventually.
