My 1997 Ford F-150 without a chipped key was stolen. When I got it back, the ignition cylinder wasn't breached. They stole the catalytic convertors on a 24 year-old truck and didn't take anything else! I thought I'd dropped the keys while walking the dog, but later found them in the house. WTF?
Insurance DOESN”T stop someone from stealing something. That would be a kill switch. KillSwitchMePTT at gmail to have one made specifically for your F250! PowerStroke tech talk with AROD on RUclips for his channel. A PowerStroke tech out of MI and he knows his shit!
those were not very good tips to protect your ride! Have a immobilzer installed, use a club, get a jimmi jammer for your door handles, so they cant pry them off and get in your truck in under 10 seconds.. install an alarm. Dont have money to do this? hide a switch for your starter, remove the batterys, remove the fuses with dummy fuses for your starter. If your truck is uninsured and just parked, REMOVE that batteries! Disconect wiring harnesses. Going out of town, remove the batteries if you are in an area where this is a problem. park in a garage if you can and still have anti theft devices installed.
dynocompe those are very great thing's to do like you said, but its sad we all can't have our dream truck's without punk assholes tryin to fuck with them
i live in northern canada and generally this isnt a problem, our town is starting to get a couple vehicle thefts on the weekends. Its the drunk natives walking that are looking for a ride back home to their reserve. I live outside of town about 5 minutes and havent ever had any problems at all. Hopefully it stays that way. I am a bit nervous to take my super duty to the city though! Are other vehicle is an Escalade, probably just as sought over. We own the two most stolen vehicles lol! Honestly if they steal the escalade, I hope its not recovered! We are ready to get rid of it, I got too good of a deal on my super duty to get it stolen, I would make money on the insurance, but I wouldnt be able to replace it with as good as a truck! 06 only 140000kms on it, not miles! Paid $4500 CDN, thats like $3000 US. 6.0l diesel steel flat deck on it 4x4 xlt
dynocompe I had a 2001 f250 that was stolen from me 2 and a half years ago now, I use to work on the road for work and came back one night to notice it was stolen, now I own a 2008 f350 6.4 diesel
These trucks do not have an factory ignition immobilizer. Plus the lower dashboard has an easily removable panel to access the fuse box plus the ignition switch. Dynocompe is right about anti theft procedures. You can have an ingition immobilizer installed in the car to be like the factory systems and without thought you can keep your vehicle yours. Autowatch out of Canada makes such a system.
My 2006 f350 super duty was very recently stolen and recovered 5 days later. I had a high end 2 way alarm, the bypassed it somehow, and took the truck from in front of my house in a matter of seconds. Side note, it is beat up from being a work and farm truck, no tailgate and a load of garbage strapped down in the box. Still got jacked! So take precautions super duty owners! I can't say how they didn't get far and I got it back, but I did have a a trick up my sleeve.😜
@kelly4035 unfortunately a very large majority of rival alarm shops that ive had to compete with for the past 30+ years just carelessly wire up & quickly slap the main alarm brain & vital alarm wiring under the dash without even trying to decently hide everything. This helps the crooks to easily disconnect even the most expensive & sophisticated alarm systems out there in about 5 seconds😢
No, Actually they go out of the country to use by drug smugglers and human trafficing - no chop shops for these trucks. They are more valuable as a whole vehicle. Look at the steak rate in the lower part of the US. All are crossing border or are getting re-tagged and used at the US border
@@on2wheels275 I’m sorry; but that’s only in the southern areas of the country. Predominately they get parted out immediately. Seen it dozens of times in the past few months. They get parted out and the rest is either dumped or cut up.
I'm familiar with the term kill switch but how exactly is this done? Do you attach the kill switch to a wire of the computer? And would this mean that everything you statt your vehicle physically you would have to turn off the kill switch or?
who the hell is still leaving keys around still like really? 2015+ push to start cars don't move without a key or a tow truck (provided it's not a camaro) apparently they figured out that one. Also why is a alarm not the first thing you do? It cuts power if it's set off even if the manage to disconnect the siren. If you can buy that truck protect it like wtf lol.
I work on these ford trucks is extremely easy to start without a key. The steering column cover just pops up and all you have to do is remove the cylinder and stick a screwdriver.
Left my ultra clean 1997 F 150 on the street for a week. We never have break-ins or thefts in this area. After 7 days, Gone Baby Gone. I used to think there was better stuff out there to steal rather than a 23 year-old work truck. Hard lesson. Some thieves will steal a hot stove.
Strange. The real Ford owners have always problem to start their car, due to battery, electrical or mechanical problems, all the time and these crocks take it in a few seconds? I guess Ford should seriously invest on these guys, instead of their engineers and mechanics!!!
Worst part is that both keys are in the truck with a dead battery. So I'll call my dealer in the morning and get a new key cut, charge battery, problem solved.
Andy Ramin where's my flat head screwdriver I need to go give me a Ford F-250 so I could beat the SHIT out of IT that's my key 4 you're ASS let me hop in my CHEVY to do this 💯 FAMILIA
passive Anti theft systems can not be bypassed, and were introduced in 2002 on all f150s till now, the system wasn't introduced on supperduty till 08. I know this cuz I got a 02 f150 and lost the key, I cant get it running without a chip key.
Hello I wanted to ask about the 2017 f150 is it hard to steal my son was hit and rolled on 101 the owner trying to say that it was stolen I don't believe this at all my son is in critical icu
I call bs I just spent the better part of an hour trying to get into my 06 because my batteries were disconnected and I locked my keys in it 🤦🏼♂️ and that was with the appropriate tools from a tow company
Ford ford their the best drove a mile walk the rest (I just don’t like ram trucks) so this is a joke fire and Chevy are great STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM GMC
My truck has the best anti theft device on it already: a manual transmission.
Just take the fuel pump relay and it will never get stolen
If I had one of these trucks, I would install a kill switch or a very loud alarm so that way the thieves don’t steal it & part it out

Yeah insure it... that will keep it from someone stealing it 😂😂
But what that guy doesn't realize is the 7.3 and 6.0 powerstroke trucks are selling for 2x the book value.🤦♂️

A couple of "bruthas" pulled up and stole our F350. Captured on cctv.

They just want it to do crimes with or some for joyriding since those fords are so simple to steal
why the fuck would anyone keep a spare key in the car lol, makes no sense...
LOL
I keep a spare key in the glove box in case I get locked out. See how smart I am?
Ti Ha if you get locked out how is the spare key useful inside
Who gets locked out anymore? It's been like since I first got my license that happened.
You don't even need a key to start the Ford truck they are so easy you can start them without a key just as quick as you can with a key

If you get your 💩 stolen cause you left a spare then it’s kinda your fault. Sorry for your loss. It will be dearly missed by all us FORD fans. RIP

I would make a kill switch or a locking kill switch that's under the seat and locks the truck from turning on and locks brakes

i watched a police chase w/ this truck, and the thief had a trailer attached to the truck, but i dont see the trailer here no mo. wha happen??
But nobody wants to steal a crappy ford, haven't they heard? It's chevys that they want!
