      Music from soundtracks, especially action sequences, are NOT songs! They're called "cues." A cue is music written strictly to enhance the scene you're watching. Cues may often contain elements of some thematic material which can remind the audience of that theme. There are sometimes many themes in a movie. The composer very often will include elements of one or more of those themes under the action on screen. These, however, are NOT "songs," as most people define the word.

    "Firemares!! Firemares could travel over a thousand leagues in a day!" Absolutely one of the most iconic cues, and Mr. Horner's score in its entirety lifted Krull from something that could have been somewhat pedestrian to the heights of 80's swords & sorcery greatness.

I love all of the soundtracks to the Star Trek franchise , Star Wars franchise , not so much . But all of the movies of the 80s had incredible soundtracks . All of these composers are great !

    This piece of music is amazing and is from the part of the movie when they need to reach the Black Fortress very quickly, so they tame the firemares - very fast flying horses. It amazes me that this film is not known about by more people, as it is one of the best films made at a time that was a golden era of film making. The part where the harp is playing is when the horses take off and it still makes my eyes water thinking about it now.

      @@caligulapontifex5759 I LOVE the Conan score - especially the first tune, Anvil of Crom, which must be notoriously hard to play because of the rhythm that it does have. I must say I am not a big Schwarzenegger fan and I don't even think the man can act at all, but I do love this film for the music alone - Basil Poledouris is one of my favorite (film music) composers of all time.

    • @christianealshut1123
      @christianealshut1123 5 дней назад

      @@jonahfalcon1970 They do indeed sound very similar, but I put that down to both scores being written around the same time. Horner might have started writing tunes for one of them and then ended zp using them for the other, I suspect. Wouldn't be new in his case; he foten quotes himself in his early phase. There are even stylistic similarities between his scores for Star Trek II and Battle Beyond the Stars because both are early scores. He did get more sophisticated later; his scores forr Zorro and Avatar for instance are less derivative. (While for Willow, he openly quoted a classical symphony theme for the main theme.)

    Having said that I think that instead of small clusters of slayers haloed in yellow on the movie poster, that firemares shoulda been used. A small trail of running from the right side of the mountain and then to the left behind the royal couple & straight to the left edge. Yeah. Raise the twins suns a bit. One big firemare below them, above the horizon.

      It was extraordinary - I was one of the 3 treble school boy singers with the orchestra recording. We are 1st heard at the opening about 16 seconds in and other small parts through the film. Film playing in B&W and a massive screen as we all recorded. Still remember the tiger moment. No credit though (and not paid!) Still have the sheet music somewhere.....
