Searching up "WZ-1001(E) LCT" will not yield any meaningful results, this is because there's rarely anyone that calls it by that. Speaking from anectodal experience no one calls it that, it is more commonly known as the WZ-123A (Y), it is kind of a niche prototype produced in the early 2000s before the actual ZTZ-99A as we know it now was finalized along with other prototypes like the ZTZ-99A pr.No2 of which the prototype No2 is more akin to the finalized ZTZ-99A. The main difference between the 2010 production variant ZTZ-99A and this vehicle is that the hull and turret is more akin to ZTZ-99 II and III with disparties in dimensions, this is also noticable in the positioning of the driver which is in the centre of the hull and isn't offset like on the 2010 and 2016 production variants of the ZTZ-99A (difference between the two ZTZ-99A's being more nuanced, this mainly was about improving the reliability of the vehicle itself with the most notable difference being the removal of the millimeter wave radar which was also not present on the prototypes) and obviously an L/54 gun instead of the L/48, the main reason why this gun was rejected was because of the short barrel life, other noticable differences includes the layout of the ERA, the first row of FY-4 on the hull is only 5 blocks wide instead of the 6 on ZTZ-99As also the following rows of FY-4 on the hull isn't elevated like on prototype No.2 or on ZTZ-99As.
Moving onto the JD-3 APS which is present on all ZTZ-99s. The system itself is a soft kill APS and is part of a suite being slaved to smoke dispensers, laser warning receiver and the control unit. The JD-3 itself is made up of a infrared emitter, power unit and a control panel, the whole system weighing about 75 Kg (Information from the source I'm using is old and there are discrepencies between the system that is actually installed and the system being described in the source, so one must note the possibility of the system that is actually deployed might be downgrade from this initial prototype stage due to cost or other reasons, alas this is the only source I have access to). The JD-3 emitter has a 5 degree range of elevation/depression with an unknown range of horizontal coverage (maybe 360 degrees, no sources to confirm). The working procedure of the system is as follows, after a threat is detected, the emitter will emit a 0.7-2.5 µm wavelength infrared radiation pulse signal within 2 seconds, jamming any infrared guided munitions, the system could also be used as an infrared illuminator if required, being slaved to type 94 smoke grenade launcher and type 97 smoke grenades it can form smoke cover within 50-80 m range from the tank within 3 seconds, interfering with laser range finders and laser designators, being most effective against those of 0.4-14 µm wavelengths. It was determined that the JD-3 along with its accompanying suite of systems can reduce the hit probability of a SACLOS missile by 2/3-4/5.
Also contrary to popular belief the ZTZ-99 autoloader does not reload faster than your typical t72, the video showing a supposed "6.5 second reload" is edited and does not include the entire reloading process, the actual loading time in war thunder is a realistic representation if not faster than actual due to the fact that war thunder doesn't take into account the time it takes to spin the carousel in order to retrieve ammunition, this information originates from a document that has a graph dictating the entire loading process with time stamps for different stages.
If you are interested I can provide more nuanced explanation and sources about the ZTZ-99 family of tanks, you can also try searching up Wang Zherong, he was the project lead of the WZ123A (Y).
ZTZ-96 and ZTZ-99 both had worse reload time before some update released during 2021 or earlier 2022, if I'm not mistaken here.They had 7.5 reload time, slowest reload among other top tier MBTs including russian ones. Maybe gaijin just wanted to buff chinese MBTs, even it's not absolutely 100% accurate, because many complained about these tanks as one of the worst top tier MBTs overall.

Its sheduled for 2024, at the moment its a mere prototype, while the 2S38 is available in low numbers, this new ztz99 is not really available for the PLA yet its being tested by the manufactor for every eventuality, i have no clue why gaijin added this.
So what is better ZTZ-99A or the WZ1001
The APS is indeed a softkill APS.
They explained in an official PLA documentary (only in Chinese ofc). But basically it is suppose to shoot a laser that screws with the optics of incoming missiles. Supposedly, it works against all types of modern ATGMS, even those with fire and forget capability.
The problem is that it's not available on export tanks, so no one really knows what it can do.
that sound like a lot of horse shit. Considering that Russian Tank had to use Cope Cage though they had basically the same shit on T-90, i doubt those "laser" can work that well against Javelin and NLAW.
@@quangnhat5345 It's suppose to blind the enemy gunner via search and track when lazed. How effective that is remains to be seen. Although China does have its own hardkill defense but its not implemented on the 99s but on the vt-4 and ztq-15.

@@quangnhat5345 Cope cages were used because Russians used their tanks in situations that let's them get ambushed from the side/rear. China's armored doctrine strictly uses their tanks to engage frontally. Their tanks' sole purpose is to defeat other tanks/vehicles so the infantry can move in to clean up. The laser dazzler systems work well when facing enemies frontally.
the APS on chinese MBTs are unique. instead of jamming signals, they're high powered lasers that go "no u" when the tank is lased.
So, a true laser gun?

Also another bonus is that despite having the 1,500 engine and better transmission, it does not suffer from nato hump like the 99A

Man i the T80 BVM who pushed your team in 20:00, that match was close but my team didnt ping any enemy location toward the ending of the match, hence we lost via score!!! I would love you to spread awareness of pointing out location of enemies in critical time (when tickets are draining faster) so that its less frustrating to play in. Hope to see you in future battles!

The UFP of the 2 ZTZ 99a tanks are still shit for no reason. Literally worse than the ztz99 when it should be better

With soviet style mbt I carry 20 darts and 4 heat. I find it's a balance between not running out of ammo and survivability.
The back of the Abrams and Type-99 are definitely not similar. Abrams uses a turbine engine. ZTZ-99 uses a diesel. Justin… you know better…. Lol

Most top tier shells under perform by a lot in this game, my theory is because of russian shells that are kinda true to their real life performance
TBF all top tier rounds ingame are way too underpowered compared to their IRL counterpart
a good example is abrams silver bullet m829a1 has an estimated penetration of 600mm at 2km so yea you dont want that ingame, and if increasing the armor is the solution to balance it out then raising the pen to 600+ doesnt change a thing
having the extended gun only increase the pen by a miniscule amount might suck but its similar to 2a5/2a6 if you look at the difference in their round its tiny
also 510+ pen will perform same until its 630 so only the 2a6 has the penetration advantage unless your facing russian sideskirts that sometimes overperforms
my main issue with the chinese tanks are its autoloaders since im pretty sure its same as the russian ones on the T72
last note ZTZ99 and leo are no where near the being a sexy tank its the CCVL
Gaijin uses its own penetration calculator for rounds. This artificially nerfs the rounds. You don’t want a top tier tank with 700mm pen at 2km
@@jPlanerv2 They use Russian ammo testing standard, where 80% of rounds have to get to the stated penetration, where nato needs 50% rounds to do that as far as I know, that could be why western ammo has lowered values too. Or so the people said a while ago

soft kill aps is a powerful laser, when the tank is lased, it shoots at the optic to fuck with any guidance systems, supposedly destroys optics too
I wish tanks would use .50s as Coax and 14.5/maybe 20mm as Roof mounted dakka.

The snail did changes some maps.
Both Poland, normal and winter, have changes (Alpha cap now have a different terrain depression on the winter both big and small version, and the rocks as said in the video on the lake), same story for Aral where some train cars are added to the norther right spawn to prevent the use of the hull down position (but you can still aim under or between them). Honestly i rather prefer a changelog just about map editing, even when the map is just another "version" (with Poland now, they demonstrate that there are two of the "same" map but totally different).
Still Golden Quarry have a glitched steel beam in the river to Alpha that eats shots even aiming between the empty spaces, not to mention the fences eating up even APFSDS😒

Mostly because the hidden armor stats that cause russian and chinese armor create less fragmentation once penetrated than NATO tank.

Damn how far you grinded the tree. Most Chinese players never went that far(or like me just got premiums in the sale and grind it when feeling the vibe)

China tree is the a small and easy tree to grind
Ive grinded everything for china and its 1000% worth it.
My advice. Stay in 8.7 and grind all the top tier before playing them one at a time. 8.7 China is insanely fun and grinds fast.
14.5mg is broken now, got bug report on it already. And there is slightly different turret design for the new one.
Also proxy HE kinda broken, it just does no damage or just HIT, and its 5.3kg of TNT...
And i dont know why chinese didnt place their FY4 or 5 on the sides...
For train transport. The tanks are way to thicck for Chinese railway. Still it’s a poor excuse for no side era, even tho their export tanks have side era and APS systems (vt-4).
Chinese MBTs for domestic use are noticeably less armored than those sent out for export as well
Are you talking about putting it on the hull sides? They probably do have kits for them but since China isn't at war they don't have them installed as they put unnecessary weight if your going to just display it.

I can understand Gaijin giving it this name if it's a prototype but a more appropriate one would be ZTZ-99(P) or ZTZ-99 Prototype in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure the ztz99a has a 6.5 second relaod irl, same as the t80u and bvm.
There's sufficient videos to suggest this online. The thing is pretty sure China has denied any cooperation with Russia on their auto loader, whereas evidence suggests that Russia either showed them their new auto loader or China stole the designs....
Type99 is a copycat of t-72m that they bought in the Middle East. Since they copied autoloader from it, I'm pretty sure it's not 6.5. And installing a loading mechanism from T-80 would require them to basically redesign the tank and chinese didn't had acces to it early enough to do so, they wouldn't be compatable with all the ammunition from T-90, which it is. T-72 autoloader also can be faster than 7.1, as well as slower based on type of ammunition and it's position in the carousel. So no, it's not the same as mechanism as T-80U or BVM.
@@user-zv9do2cd4j The type99 is probably the great great great grandson of the t-54/55 from what i've read. The ztz96 on the other hand is more of a copy of the t-72. Same size, same height similar roadwheels, etc. The type99A has nothing to do with any Russian tanks. It's significantly more advance and incorporate western influence in the mix and it's a uniquely Chinese vehicle.
I remember reading and hearing that that video featuring the so called '6.5' second reload is cut a bit as it does show full reload cycle

The sm7b is a fantastic mic, to fix the percussive mouth sounds, simplest option is a pop filter/mic shield, should sort out the problem, if not you can turn down the gain slightly on your audio interface and increase the volume of the mic post production. 😁 thos are the easiest ways to deal with the issue
