I mean no one likes to admit it but all that high tech stuff like L-cancelling and wave-dashing and shit are all imperfections, due to the game's very quick deadline and poor budget. For those calling fake, the explanation is that the AI in smash bros games are based on inputs. "cpu levels" are nothing more than how quickly the AI can respond to said inputs, making level 9s perform worse than level 1s.
I've learned so much from sensei Luigi. Over theses past few weeks I have sat and done nothing and I am getting so far in life. Like today, I had a big test in school, so I sat and did nothing and I got an A+.
Ness is actually a level 8 npc. If you pick that stage and don't do anything he'll commit suicide every time, it's a quick way to unlock the hidden stages.
Only level 9 Nesses actually use PK Thunder to recover. So if you see a Ness using PK Thunder to recover, you will then know that he is set to level 9.
Holy shit, I used to play this game a ton. Never knew/noticed how broken the AI really was. Guess I didn't play these stages a lot. Glad the AI is improving in further games.
I've played Smash 4, and I can tell ya, pick the right stages and they are no better. For Example, on Palutena's Temple, if you go on top of a platform with spikes on the bottom and play against level 9 Dark Pit, you can essentially troll the AI up to 150% while still having like 25%, only by walking on the platform and attacking in certain ways. He also repeatedly shoots arrows at the ground and occasionally jumps into the spikes.

You do it the same way I'm pretty sure. Just click the empty player areas on the character select screen and they'll come up as CPUs.

No, it's just from the AI having very limited "paths" they can take, and not being able to recognise things like pits among other flaws.
