This song is EPIC, and to me it epitomizes the pain and disillusionment of modern life. Many songs from the 90s did such a great job of putting the mirror to society and showing the dark undercurrents that exist in our world: "Under The Bridge", "Jeremy", "Man In The Box", "Creep", "Sober", "All Apologies", "Runaway Train", "Everybody Hurts", "Fell On Black Days", the list goes on.

As a guitarist of 20 years, I know that hearing someone play an acoustic is the best way to tell if they're a good player or not. On an electric, you can get away with some stuff that you can't on an acoustic. These guys were really fucking great. The whole album is awesome. I've listened to it many times over the years.

    • @yeahno1016

Your spot on. These guys never got as much credit as they deserved . Amazing players. I learned on my dad's old 12 string at about 7. By the time I was 19-20 people couldn't believe how fast I was on a smooth thin electric. Your hands get so much tougher on acoustic. To play like then song after song they are amazing.

Deep. Demon 👿😈 of demands, get back in the business of not tearing up the free time and then if you want me to I can discover a path diverging, its the only way. I want a heart to gold and a life of a metal titans in my eyes for me to make it easier for you to be the one that is nothing but it is a life of peace and serenity and wanting what I've got. I'm still in verging on dependingon ideas that I've been in the free world for years and I'm never going to make a life of anything for my endlessness and a lot of people to be the best person I've ever had to be in a relationship with my eyes 👀 and I just got a metal manic in my endlessness and I'm never going back to the house and I'm not sure what I want to do with it but I can laugh at it and see 🙈 and a lot of people who are heading out of consciousness to be a life 🧬 for me to make a lot of money 🤑💰 and a life of ❤ heatless bitch can die if you're not going anywhere in the free time I have to go to itevnezz and get a life of forgetful in the morning 🌅 🌄 if you ever really bothered to make it to the end of the day we needed to get together and get a next time nothing to do with you and I'm never going through this man and I'm not 🚫🚭 you like a memory of me it is nothing to do without you and I can't get to see 🙈 you see it all. Next time. Thanks.

Man...this takes me to Biloxi, Mississippi. 1998. 19 years old in the Marine Corps. These guys came out of NOWHERE and this was the first time I listened to anything rock, let alone bought the album, to this level. Days of the New should've been huge. But the Yellow Album is a classic.

Man, this album was so unique, it's hard to this day to put it into a defined genre. Hard ass lyrics, gorgeous down-tuned sound-layering, and the vocals... wow!
I picked this album up, back when it came out, and the next 2 albums as they dropped.
Years later, I'm at a party, and this dude picks up an acoustic and starts playing a perfect rendition of their work... I was in awe...jaw on the floor.
We turned off the Mudvayne playlist we had running in the next room and let his sound ring out throughout the house... it was incredible, and while his playing was excellent in all respects... This album made that night happen the way it did. To this day, this band is seared into my memory. Today, I came home with the song "Weapon and the Wound" in mind... started whistling it as I walked through the door from work and minutes later was singing it out loud.
Now, me, I'm culturally as much of a metalhead as one can get, but this album is metal AF.
@"Marc Poirier" ... no... it's not. Just leave it at that.

    The key is so distant
    I've opened doors
    Know when to listen
Know what to listen for (yeah)
    The shelf in the room
Has been the way of holding me
    And letting me stay
    Kick me out
    Let me go
I don't belong here no more
A releasing sense of getting tired
    Hold myself
    I can't hold myself
    The shelf in the room
    Has been so true
    I can hide in
    The shelf in the room
    Holding out
    Never hold in
    Holding out
    Never hold
    Know when to listen
    Know what to listen for
    Believe in resistance
Don't let them tell you anymore
    Is there anyway/no
    To get away/no
    Ask myself
    While I stay inside
    The key is so distant
    I've closed my doors
