12 years have passed since I first listened to Travis Meeks on the "Touch, Peel and Stand" video. From the very first moment, Days of the New became my favourite band ever, from any genre. Obsessive-compulsive as I am, I'm constantly discovering new music, new composers, bands and genres; but of all the artists I have ever listened to, my heart will always remain with DOTN.
Travis Meeks was 16-17 years old when he wrote and recorded this. I don't know any teen that to this day could write sing and play guitar on the level Travis does. HE is a musical genius and eventually the rest of the world will see and hear the incredible music he has created over the years. Just because he isn't putting out new albums doesn't mean he isnt creating it. TravIs is sitting on a gold mine of music and when the time comes the world will hear it. He has several albums finished but he aint selling out to record labels he is staying true to his art even if he goes broke doing it.
Mr.Sawdoff1100 I can always count on you for positive Meeks comments in the cesspool of RUclips comments. Thanks for being you. I still listen to Travis Meeks' music weekly. Patiently awaiting his return.
Gotta stay positive my friend. He just got out Feb 25 and is looking great and is in excellent health. It will take a while to get his timing back but I expect big thing from him in the coming months.
stepintomykillzone it is just so sad knowing that we may never hear this stuff. The purple album is just a bunch of scattered videos online. We have no communication with him and we may never see a new Travis Meeks/Days of the New album in quite a while. Its a shame what happened to him. Great things were ahead for him and he flushed all of them down the toilet.
I miss Travis Meeks writing.... He connected to me on so many levels. Please conquer your demons and express more of your beauty for all of us to enjoy! We miss you.
My father introduced me to days of the new when I was 13 I'm now 30 and play guitar a bit. Travis has changed my life so much. His music is just oh so too good. Very underrated. Very inspiring. So full of soul.
Absolutely one of the most underrated songs of all time. Just to find this song on almost any platform, you have to specifically type "Days of the New" along with the song title to find it.
any member of tantric has enough talent to make a song as beautiful as season change. Travis Meeks just made art of this kind. thank God for Travis Meeks
I grew up/live about an hour or so from where Travis was born and I can clearly remember the first time I heard a local rock station selling tickets for a DOTN show.. it was early in their career and I was just a Jr. High kid and the band, their name, the music.. it all seemed so new and cool. They were one of the first bands that I felt was truly from "my generation." Good times.. and the seasons they do change.
This was my favorite song as a baby and throughout my childhood, my parents have video of me at four years old running around singing it and insisting it be played nonstop all day, now it just makes me long for a time machine..
Same here. I wish I could relive all the good memories of my childhood and really savor the moment. On my 2nd birthday back in 1991 I insisted that Hole Hearted by Extreme be played on repeat (it really got on my dad's nerves though XD). My dad has the footage recorded on VHS.
Theirs a lot to say about this guy . Hes a very tortured person and its apparent in his songs. The sheer amount of musical talent is in fact rather staggering. His arrangements hold up with just an acoustic guitar, and his ability to play bass and melody notes at once is actually quite simple but complicated to hold together and even more difficult to write. Their is alot of music like this in Ky that will never get heard because of the pit of drugs and despair so many people are stuck in.
He sings and plays this song in minor keys so there's this immediate, mediative trance that draws me to the lyrics. His music theory is over the top genius.
Travis, like Layne Staley sucks me in immediately when I hear him. Travis is/was a double threat though with that songwriting and his guitar skills. Gems
The most beautiful song! Sinks into my soul and soaks it with imagination and connection, the connection with what Travis was trying to portray when he wrote this song musically, Makes me close my eyes and just enjoy music, free of thinking and the damage thinking does when it's of the wrong things. Thank you for this beautiful song!
Travis Meeks was such a huge influence for me as a guitarist. I was 12 or 13 when the first album came out and I was so captivated by it. I hope Travis can see all the good he has given to the world and take care of himself.
Nobody else listening in 2022 I guess. Yes Travis, these seasons of life are always changing for better or for worse. Let's all just keep our heads up and remember what life is about dealing with the changes
Days of the new has always brought me back to a time when i was young before i was subjected to the harsh realities of the world.Family,First true love and friendship i would die for.Alive in my youth!Seasons have changed over the decades! The picture above suits the song well!
Season's Change Your life I can rearrange Time for a change Things will never be the same, Yeah What's the absence of my answers Seems like I gave them all away Tell me now I've got to tell you Just the pain I felt today If you take a walk with me, I'll hold your hand And let you be Yes, you got to see what's happened to me I'm gonna take you there Yeah Season's Change Leaves have left you by my name Yeah Break those chains I will never be again Seasons Change Your life I can rearrange Rearrange
As a kid, I burned a CD with (i think) 17 tracks of this song on it and would listen to it before I went to sleep every night, because there were no MP3 players that could just play things on repeat.
This dude is so talented, it's a shame he can't quit his bad habits and has fallen from grace since the 90s. Getting rich overnight from several singles at 18 probably didn't help. Can't imagine what that kind of pressure does to someone that young. I hope he comes out with a fully mixed and mastered studio album again.
This dam song speaks to me.. It is fitting hand in hand with my day to day life. Travis meeks is a genius man. Such raw talent on the guitar, and a hell of a songwriter. "What's the absence of my answers."
This has become one of my favourite Days songs. I still love "Touch, Peel and Stand," "Face of the Earth," "Flight Response," "Days in Our Life," etc., but this has climbed into my top five list. Just wish Travis would somehow, some way get clean and make new music.
Absolutely transformative for me. I was introduced to Days of the New as a young kid listening to the radio with my cousin and heard Touch Peel and Stand on SiriusXM
You save my life but can't seem to fix your own. That's sad in more ways than one. Thank God I have these beautiful songs to hear. Listen to your own voice and be again.
Now, I am 30, and I don't know if I haven't matured enough, or if I haven't "evolved", but this will always be the most beautiful music I have listened to, until I step down to the grave.
I always had my DOTN CD and my AIC cds right next to each other ! MY 2 favs!!! I didn't put AIC OR DOTN in the " GRUNGE" genre! THEY are both ONE of a KIND ! RIP LAYNE!! KEEP ON ROCKIN TRAVIS !!! You're truly one of a kind and special to a lot of people! Take care of yourself !
I don't get why this song never made an album, its so good. Kinda makes me wonder how many great songs by bands i like are just on shelf. Atleast we can listen to it on youtube. Thanks for uploading this Gem.
This is his best song, that fucking guitar solo is so so beautiful, get well Travis your music is a blessing from the gods, I really hope you conquer your demons and come back better than ever, there's so much talent in you!
he significance of the tree. Travis claims he looked into the picture and was there, sat there. had a moment with it and cried. Was a spiritual experience
He truly is a musical genius. After much study on this matter, I am pretty sure Travis has "savant syndrome', which is a mild form of High functioning Autism in which he is abnormally skilled at one particular artistic ability like drawing or composition (Mozart most likely had the same condition). He mentioned in one of his video interviews that he has 'asbergers syndrome', which probably explains his social inabilities and drug use and further supports this theory....Nevertheless he is a rare and truly special person and I am glad God has blessed him with this amazing ability to create music that is from a whole different plane of existence than most people can imagine.
my absolute FAVORITE acoustic song EVER!!!! hear me now I've got to tell you just the pain i felt today. if you take a walk with me I'll hold your hand and and let you be cause youve got to see whats happened to me im gonna take you there....ohh
All his songs wear my shoes Travis I want U to know UR not alone in the battle of our demons and I look to UR songs for salvation and yet I remain wondering in pain

A moment of silence for the people who have yet to find this song. So many nights I will pick the air to this wonderful masterpiece. ✨️
This melody is absolutely gorgeous..

riggs100 meth. He was a cold hard addict. He got clean in 2008. Relapsed 2012-ish. He is fine niw but he killed his own career.
I miss Travis Meeks writing.... He connected to me on so many levels. Please conquer your demons and express more of your beauty for all of us to enjoy! We miss you.
It hurts a little when I play this, it's so good and he's so awesome.
@The Fires of Mount Doom Did you get an answer? Looks like you thanked someone but I don't see their comment...

Your dad has good taste! Travis is an anomaly. No one can match him. Hopefully he will find his way
Guitar skills completely unmatched 🤯
This song takes me to another place
Come on, Travis, come back to us. We miss you terribly
This is one of the best songs ever!!!!!!!
Absolutely one of the most underrated songs of all time. Just to find this song on almost any platform, you have to specifically type "Days of the New" along with the song title to find it.
This was one of the first songs I ever learned on bass, and I'm just now rediscovering it after about 9 years. The nostalgia hit me so fucking hard...
He needs to come back Miss him and his music.
Look him up, he's around, and has been. Amazing musician
He's still in trouble.
Arrested again last year 😔

One of the best songs out there today, one of my all time favorite songs and criminally underrated.

Todd Whitener is also a great musician as well. He was in DOTN and Tantric. Check out some of his music its amazing!
The Alice in Chains like vocals sound so cool !! Love this song
this literally happened in the middle of alice in chains acoustic stuff.
Same thing I said! Such a badass AIC sounding song
There's so much to this song, it's a journey. When you get done listening you feel like you just watched a great movie.

Travis Meeks es un genio de la guitarra electroacustica.
