The starter you took out was for an NB second gen Miata, a 1.8 NB starter. It's a direct swap and only uses 2 of the 3 bolts and works perfectly as a replacement! It has more torque but spins slower, BUT sounds a lot better and more modern
Listen, you do what makes you happy men, doesn't matter if it "doesn't pay off", you had fun doint it, that's what matters. By the way, you changed that cars life, you brang it back to life. And you taught me something about the power steering, thank you!
could have flipped it without doing all that work and made close to the same profit most likely. But you actually care about giving someone a good car, we need more people like Joel👍
I've been watching your videos for a while now and I'm really glad you dived into the turbo miata world. I've got a forged turbo miata I built and they're such easy cars to work on. It's funny I've been working on flipping cars and doing it with this style of voiceover aswell.
At least you stopped at a reasonable point. I rebuilt my wife’s custom van because she wasn’t ever going to sell it. It was custom made to her specs and you can’t get those types of conversion vans anymore. I spent 2 years fixing all the little things after replacing, powder coating or repainting everything in and on it. Of course then she found another “forever car”. I took months to sell and I ended up selling it for $8k less than I had invested in it. Working on a car to sell is an art, we always overdo it.
Be veryyy careful with scotchbrite, the small fibers will catch in between rod bearings and the crankshaft if they fall into the engine. Great video man
Very good video cool editing style, I liked that you recapped what you did in the first episodes in the series in this one. And in the future if you made episodes like the beginning of this series then a video like this of the whole process I think that would do well on youtube. That being said what ever you do Ill watch it I like your stuff man!!
I think it would’ve been cool to make a “Delivering food in a Turbo Miata” type video but this is a good outcome. Yes, you could’ve squeezed a little more money out of the buyer but I think that the knowledge and experience you gained from this was very beneficial. Keep posting videos bro
This is what ended up happening to me with my ls swapped e36 that was built by a master mechanic at a dealership. Everything ended up being janky. Fixed everything and didnt even want the car anymore cuz i was so annoyed lmao.
From a flipping perspective no it's not worth it, but now that it's done, that car is nicer than it's been in quite a long time, and it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
Well polishing you want the polishers weight to do the work maybe add a bit more pressure yourself but nothing crazy. Polishing a Miata should easily take 2-3 hours it’s a time consuming process
Bro finally remembered his youtube password
No fr lol
LMAO !!!!
Wild
What I like about Joel is that he finishes what he starts!

Actually a really satisfying video. All the details but super efficient and everything resolves

Joel is the man! loved this rebuild video
When you cut the fender at 25:00 did you at least cover the open cut with a primer or paint? That fresh metal will rust instantly.
The background music so calm. Putting me to sleep

I've been waiting so long to see this car again 😭
Do another flip! + You learned a lot during the process, and earned some $$$. Good call imo~
hey joel for your oil feed the best solution would be a 3an line with no restrictor instead of a 4 an for a journal :D
Monthly attendance 🙌
