OOF! What a stunner, meet #MercedesAMG’s new #CLE53 4Matic Cabrio! The lady in red personified, this is a 6 cylinder #AMG with unique wide body compared to the normal CLE cab.
Mimicking the Coupe we just drove, it uses an upgraded version of the 3.0-litre M 256 inline six-cylinder turbo engine giving 450HP and more torque than before of 560 Nm continuous or 600 Nm in overboost for up to 12 seconds! The mild hybrid can hit 0-60 in 4.4 seconds with the roof down, And faster with the optional dynamic plus pack (see video for details).

There are also some Cabrio-specific standard options:
- AIRCAP electric wind deflector system
- AIRSCARF headroom heating
Armor caps two elements directs airflow over the occupants’ heads and reduces turbulence, and airscarf if the usual heating in the headrest!
The Acoustic soft top follows the Mercedes classics of old, and is available in black, red, or grey - it opens and closes in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 60 km/h.
We also have Leather seats with special coating, to keep cool in the sun, and just like the SL, a tilting center screen to stop glare when driving!
We’re also going to talk about how it stacks up to the only other AMG drop top entry level car: the SL43. That has 380HP, is slower at 4.9 secs and is a Hugely expensive 4 cylinder. Food for thought!

This car is rapidly growing on me. As a current EClass Convertible owner, I have gone from "I don't like it" to "maybe" to "OK I WANT THE AMG VERSION"
I have a coupe and this really does not feel like an upgrade / new model to me at all.
As a current E450 cabriolet I'm loving this. I thought mine was one of the most beautiful car out there till I saw this one. I get compliments everywhere. I'm going to wait to see this one in person before placing an order.
I have a E53 Convertible and it is also growing on me. But I think I will go SL63 when the time comes. The interior is a c-class. Which is a disappointment... Also the fake wings are a bit too much especially with that size
@4rzful I agree. I don't like the fake wings, especially in Chrome. I also dont like the vertical screen , I rather have all the screens horizontally on top like on the eclass (keeps your eyes more on fhe road, rather than having to look down) plus in my opinion, it just looks better. I think a coupe and Convertible version of fhe current eclaas would have been better.

Gorgeous car. Those wheels are amazing! I love how Mercedes is continuing to innovate. First the air scarf. Then the cap. Now the seat materials.
The CLE is the only one of the newer cars i actually like. As an owner of two previous C-class AMG’s, the new 2l C classes don’t even exist to me.. and the new E class.. mmm, idk.. but the CLE.. looks pretty awesome, and having at least a 3l V6.. is something!

It’s not 0-60 in 4.2 secs. It’s 0-100kph (62mph) in 4.2. 0-60 mph will be less!!

How does the 2 seats in the back compare to SL ones?
I leased SL63 AMG for lower price than a S class 8 cylinder. The rear seats in SL cannot fit anyone above 5’ comfortably so only kids. CLE will fit adults, but smaller than former E class cabriolet.

The SL is unusable for rear seating. You might as well delete these for a parcel shelf. If the CLE has usable seats, this would be more practical, even if you just throw golf clubs back there.
Know that they were making a cabrio why the hell did MB put B pillars and fixed rear windows on the coupé.

The BMW 4 series pulls off the soft top better. The CLE has too many ridges on the roof the interrupt the design for me. 4 series and CLE are both beautiful cars but imo the 4 series pulls of the convertible much smoother and overall better

The sound of the AMG is just harsh loud and annoying. An inline 6 can sound like a turbine extremely smooth and powerful. Just listen to cars before they messed with by passing mufflers and fake sparks etc …

Are the side vents functional? I was disappointed to know that the vents on even the SL AMG models and on some of the GT models the side vents are just cosmetic. They fit those models and look nice, so I'm not complaining. I'm inclined to think that the vents are fake on this car. If they were functional I would think they look awesome. But if fake I'm like why?

I'm 60. I love the looks of this beautiful cabrio. I might even be able to enter & exit it without too much difficulty. I love that it's the AMG version since, even as a 60 year old, I enjoy driving quickly with the top down.

@@regnorum I would bet the majority of picky/negative comments about luxury cars/exotics are from people who are not in the market to buy them. AMG S63 Cab owner here - this new car is a great fit for today's market and way more interesting than the SL.
Damn mate that's awesome car congrats. I'm in the market for this exact car. Since the moment I saw CLE I was this is the car I'm getting and cabrio version. So by the end of this year I'll be able to get one.
However in last 2 weeks I "discovered" Lexus LC 500 and bro I got obsessed with that car.
Naturally aspirated V8 with 471 HP that is a piece of art.
With the sound that is almost as good as LFA lol.
LC 500 is low production model and the last V8 Lexus. Basically handmade in the same factory in Japan where they made LFA.
I know this Merc will depreciate for sure and Lexus I think will only go up in value. 2018 and 2019 used models didn't basically lose any value.
So now I'm totally lost.
Any opinion on LC 500?
