Love this movie genre parody. Lily is so effective here as the sadistic warden. Vicki kind of steals the show-- that high and ditzy voice she does is a riot, and her deep singing is as well. This is a favorite. So happy to see it here ... even though this is an _edited_ version (orig sketch was over eleven minutes long), without stuff like Lily wickedly scratching her fingernails on a little chalkboard to torture Spike.
OMG thanks for reminding me of the about Lily scratching her fingers on the chalkboard you have an amazing memory that was hilarious and even to this day Lily Tomlin is great in the grace and Frankie series which one a prime time Emmy Award and a Golden Globes Award!
Talents like Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin do not die they just get better with age! Carol Burnett is The Wonder of Wonders and I like the fact that she had Lily Tomlin on her show these three women are like delicious aged wine! They live in my heart and no one can make me chuckle the way they have and not to mention of course Lucille Ball that goes without saying LOL! I love The Carol Burnett Show more than anything and the I Love Lucy series more than anything anything that comes out these days and which do you have some very creative brilliant stand-up comics however the old comedy of skits from movie parodies on The Carol Burnett Show along with her regular situational skits and the television series of I Love Lucy are nothing that will ever leave my heart or be o u t d o n e by any comedies of today
Unfortunately, the country which gave rise to this show - this episode in particular - existed exactly fifty years ago this autumn. The country which could do that no longer exists. Everyone would find something to be offended by.

The word Dames being used in the title is a nice humorous touch. And the ovewrought hairdo obtained in the prison hairdressing office is really funny too.
Now imagine the guard is Beverly Leslie and the character Carol is playing - Karen Walker. Vicki as Jack. Harvey’s Mama as Grace. And the father is Will.
Woke means being a good, kind human being. If you find that offensive that says more about you then 'woke' What's next? Will being gracious offend you and you'll try to turn it into some kind of slur. Dear God with the RWNJs

How many of us remember Mary Hartman. The late night TV show, that only lasted one season in the late 70s. Which this sketch was based on. The main character was a lesbian name Franky. I believe it's was a British production
Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman? Didn't her husband drowned in his soup bowl? That was around the time Soap aired. Maybe she drowned and that's why the show ended.
Lily Tomlin slapping all the ladies at once and Mother Marcus appearing at the end always gets me! 😂
I wasn’t prepared for that slap 😂🤣😅
The slap scene, the "harmonica" scene and Mother Marcus, of course, make the sketch perfect!
Thank you, I now know who the slapper was!
Carol is always great but Vickie stole it
0:28
😅😅😅
The harmonica joke is too funny. And Vicki's high voice is hysterical.
yep
Comedy gold
Vicky Lawrence cracks me up
Vicky Lawrence and Harvey Korman were amazingly talented.
Mother Marcus makes everything better!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤪😜
I love Lily Tomlin, she is amazing, and Harvey Korman in the end, just hilarious
Oh those days, Carol's shows can still make me laugh out loud!!! 💯🤣😂❤❤❤🙏🌎
Nothing better. These skits were done in one or two takes. She would not be on SNL because preparing for a week is just too damn hard.
I remembered this whole sketch from way back when. I've relived the harmonica gag dozens of times over the years.
I’ve never seen this prison episode. It is hilarious. These ppl are such geniuses in comedy. I never get tired of Carol and her peers. 😂😂

Yeah, the nails on the chalkboard completely unnerved Spike. LOL...!
@@Mezzotenor And the sound effect was perfect. :D

@@janinifarris4414 So true. Nothing will ever eclipse the comedy gold of those talented ladies.
Gosh I love Harvey! Just his one minute here made the whole sketch!!
I seriously wish they would make shows like this again! TV isn't like this anymore.
Too expensive.
Not enough talent to make them anymore!!!!
Yep...and take off the smutt and unreal reality shows .

Vicki Lawrence in this one! ❤
This is one of my favorite Carol Burnett sketches ever!!! I’m so happy that this is on here
Carol Burnett, Lily Tomlin and Lucille Ball were my favorite female comedians! ❤️
She was great! Always has me laughing 😂
The word Dames being used in the title is a nice humorous touch. And the ovewrought hairdo obtained in the prison hairdressing office is really funny too.

Nobody could be funnier
Hilarious and creative 😂❤❤❤

Too funny for words.....
Vickie kind of owned this skit
This was so funny. I laughed and laughed 😂😂😂❤
Funny, Funny, funny!
Lily Tomlin was Excellent in this Skit
A classic skit (though cut a little from the original).
Hilarious!!!!
My motto in life:
I wanna live till I die.
The harmonica is a woodwind.
0:48-0:55
Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well.
😅😅
I love Lily Tomlin 😂😂😂
Lily Tomlin as hope Emerson... great!
"Don't you know any up songs?"
❤️🌞❤️😂 Too Funny To silly:)
Carol Burnett looks like Pink in this😳
Vicki Lawrence looks like a little orphan Annie.
Oh boy...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I guess this was a parody of the movie with Susan Hayward "I Want to Live"?
...when humor was CLASSY/ORIGINAL, NOT CLASSLESS/SHALLOW!!!💪🇺🇲Renee Cariglia
They left out some funny stuff! But I like this all the same.
🤣🤣🤣
The good old days, when comedy wasn't woke, political or vulgar !

Is that chick with the red Annie afro, the same actress that plays Thelma Harper?
Yes, Vicky Lawrence.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

As much as I love this show Vickie’s fake voice could have been a different one 🤷🏻♀️
Who was the old man?
It almost looked like Jerry Stiller.
If you man the priest/Mike, it’s singer/actor Steve Lawrence
@@bartgreenberg9001 No, not Mike. I knew that was Steve Lawrence. I was talking about the old man who came in with Harvey Korman.
