What I have noticed owning Masami's all Japan winning B3 is that most team drivers left their race cars box stock. Masami didn't even have all the blue bling on his B3.
I believe a lot of that was to show JQ Public that it was a winner right out of the box. You definitely didn't see the creativity/customization of the tub years carry over into the B2 and later.
Without everything being equal (tires, electronics) it would be hard to have an accurate assessment. I practiced my Worlds car at the NC vintage race along with this. They were both fast, but the B2 just "felt" better.
