I have seen this band many times in Cleveland and Akron Ohio. They played the Cleveland Playhouse and Akron's Tangiers countless times. I am a Beatles snob, who pays close attention to the sound and instruments and amplifiers and sound of anyone who plays a Beatles classic live, and these guys were the BEST Beatles cover band. Period. And I've seen a few. They replicated the 1963-66 Beatles PERFECTLY while playing for real, with no overdubs or augmentations. When Gary (Paul) passed it was a sad day for all of of us who've followed 1964 TT for the last 20+ years and we still miss him. He was genuinely a great guy in real life, I had the pleasure of talking to him after a show after everything calmed down and he was just the nicest guy.
Well Rain was recorded and released near the end of their touring days. If they hadn't stopped touring in August of '66 I'm sure they would've performed Rain.
After all Rain was simply guitars, bass and drums, no super psychedelic instrumentation or anything like their later stuff. Rain is not hard to perform live.
those were both great renditions, but really impressed me was their really good imitation of the backwards vocals at the end of rain. the band while they looked tired as all get out, still did a believable job of being The Beatles!
I saw these gents @ Carniege Hall back in "07. Not only did I get my money's worth. But they convinced me that they're the best Beatles tribute around.
alonenjersey The Fab Four WAY outshines this band!!! I’ve seen them 8 (yes, 8) times and I’ll gladly go another 8 times!!! This can easily be seen if you take the time to compare the two bands’ videos. Especially since they now have Adam Hastings as John Lennon (though Ron McNeil was good too, I still prefer Adam); Gavin Pring, the ONLY George Harrison tribute artist that actually LOOKS AND SOUNDS like the real George; Ardy Sarraf, who, though not a dead ringer for McCartney, sounds and in particular acts more like the real Macca than almost anybody; and Joe Bologna, who, with the sole exception of Erik Fidel (who BTW was IN the FF), does Ringo as well as anybody else you can find currently. It is not rude but it’s the reality that, though they’ve had a good career, 1964 The Tribute has seen its better days. I believe that if they hang up the boots and suits, and act more appropriately for their age, they could still have a career playing Beatles music. I know that there will be some that quite vehemently will disagree; but I maintain that there still has to be a certain amount of reality in these performances. The fact that the Fab Four, as just one example, replaced RonMcNeil with the younger Adam Hastings, shows that they are cognizant of what it takes to be a realistic Beatles tribute band. And I have no doubt that, when the time comes when he can no more realistically portray the young McCartney, Ardy Sarraf will step aside, too.
I see in some of the comments you've noticed this group even gets the Beatle tone down..... well, that's because they not only use authentic, period correct REAL instruments or authentic reproductions (as opposed to replicas), but they also use the same strings on the guitars the Beatles used. They have as many nuances and details down as a tribute band can.
I have seen them several times. In my opinion, they are the best of all the Beatle impressionists. Bar none !! "Rain" rock !!! I saw them in Reno NV at Harrah's and stayed for both shows and came back the next night also !!
Absolutely Brilliant !! The use of pre-recorded backing tracks notwithstanding. (I.e., "Frère Jacques" on Paperback Writer": note how close "John" is to the mic while "George" is a mile away; the dense harmonies on "Rain."). Playing these tunes live is ridiculously challenging. The band I worked with in the 1980s rehearsed "Paperback Writer" but it never made it out of the basement. (They were VERY good, but not quite good enough to pull it off in public.)
I have seen this band probably 20 times in the last 20 years, started following them in 1999. As a Beatles snob I can tell you 1964 is the best of ALL the Beatles cover bands..... and I can also verify with complete certainty they do not nor have they ever used backing tracks. Everything is 100% live. They don't even have a machine in their equipment that can run tracks. It's all live.
Thanks for up loading the video it was so good to see Gary's sweet face again although he is now gone. RIP Gary my friend! I love this song & all of The Beatles's songs.truly Rolling Stone Magazine said it best that 1964 The Tribute was & are the very best & # 1 Beatles's Tribute band. Do you fans agree with that statement? I sure do! Cheers: Critty200
My favorite Beatles' tribute is Yesterday. I've seen them live once, and I'm planning to see them again in a month. They're truly an AMAZING Beatles' tribute.
For starters, the Bootleg Beatles' bass player plays right handed. Their group does a nice job, but "1964 The Tribute" replicates the original Beatles performances with much greater nuance and musical comprehension IMHO. I grew up with the Beatles music and know it well. I'm also a musician. As far as tribute acts go, "1964" is tops.
they have mastered thier act to perfection . the tone they generate from the guitars matches the beatle tone very closely. with the addition of Graham Alexander who is playing Paul now this band definitely sounds much closer to Beatles then any other I have heard. they capture the beatle music upto the revolver era and generate a lot of excitment in the crowd wherever they play and have a lot of repeat value
Why the hell are we comparing these bands? They're all good. Get over it, your comments are just terrible. Music is music. Now enjoy it. Great video, love this band.
Awesome performance, truly. Vocals, harmonies, spot on. Very impressive. Only suggestion is to excuse extended band from sitting side stage while going through the mop top phase of music. The gray bearded gentleman sitting with the bored expression on his face is purely distracting. No need to be there most of the time.
I suggest looking in to "Rain, a tribute to the Beatles". They have a right handed Paul for THIS tour, but he does a great job, and sounds just like Paul McCartney.
I've seen these guys (old line up Mark, Gary, Jimmy Pou, and Greg George) . This line up just seems to old to be the "1964" version of The Beatles. I found The Fab Four and Rain a tad better over all.
they are very good, but they dont really sound nor look like the beatles - one thing that is so impressive about the new John lennon of the bootleg beatles is that he looks/sounds just like john its almost magical watching him sing beatle songs and if you look at all the comments its alost all complimenting the standard
I’m sorry but the only one that at least sounds a little(by a little I mean a little)like the character they are portraying is the guy who did paul the rest of them do not sound anything like the Beatles especially the John. If you want to see a band that really looks like the Beatles go see rain a tribute to the Beatles or the fab four

By far the best single and bside in the whole discography.
That's a big call! I'd put in there Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane, Hey Jude/Revolution & Get Back/Don't Let Me Down as contenders!
The Bass and drums are what do it for me. I hate hey jude and get back. imo some of the most annoying tracks. I'm not a complete beatles fan though.
@@yummyjackalmeat Get Back is fine imo, but totally agree that Hey Jude is incredibly annoying
@@yummyjackalmeat Both are 🙅♂️🚫⛔😒
Seen these guy's twice ..they are really good...Rip Gary 💐
I've seen them 6 times....I emailed Gary 15 years ago and he RESPONDED! WE exchanged emails several times
One of the most perfect singles ever created! Over 50 years have passed since this masterpiece was released and it still sounds as fresh as ever!
Fabulous! These chaps performed songs live that Beatles only played in the studio and still nailed them. Case in point- the very psychedelic Rain!
Goodness it's amazing to hear the Revolver era covered.
These guys are positively AWESOME!!!!! RIP Gary Grimes.
Rain performance freaking awesome!!
They are the best I have seen !!
Fantastic! - those harmonies are so close
Seen these guys about 15 years ago they were awesome
I had a chance to open for these fine gentleman is front of 4 thousand people.
It was a pleasure
those were both great renditions, but really impressed me was their really good imitation of the backwards vocals at the end of rain. the band while they looked tired as all get out, still did a believable job of being The Beatles!
Well done, lads. You capture the spirit of The Beatles. Musically these are two very difficult songs to perform with all the dynamics and nuances. A+
I love 1964. Sure do miss Gary though. Wonderful Paul and really nice to talk with. RIP Gary.
Excellent performance of one of my favorite songs!
I saw these gents @ Carniege Hall back in "07. Not only did I get my money's worth. But they convinced me that they're the best Beatles tribute around.
They're not the best tho. The Fab Four is.
I think "Rain" is the best !!
alonenjersey The Fab Four WAY outshines this band!!! I’ve seen them 8 (yes, 8) times and I’ll gladly go another 8 times!!!

This just proves why Rolling Stone Magazine named them the "Best Beatles Tribute on Earth." Absolutely amazing. 1964 is brilliant
Very cool … he even sang the backwards vocal at the end of Rain.
I have seen them several times. In my opinion, they are the best of all the Beatle impressionists. Bar none !! "Rain" rock !!! I saw them in Reno NV at Harrah's and stayed for both shows and came back the next night also !!

Greatest song in pop history, bookended the Beatles' transition from teen pop to more progressive music
The rain cover sounded spot on. We'll done guys
Aqui na cidade de Porto Alegre , todo ano tem a beatles day , O Brasil ama os beatles. Parabéns pelo trabalho de voces.
I agree with Scott newell I also grew up with the Beatles. 1964 nails it great job lads bravo thanks guys
My favorite Beatles' tribute is Yesterday.
I've seen them live once, and I'm planning to see them again in a month.
They're truly an AMAZING Beatles' tribute.

Same here

Excelente grupo e interpretación de las canciones de The Beatles.
Great Job 64 !!!!
Rest In Peace Gary
drummer needs to listen to The real Ringo's drum beats. He's missing the high hat exchanges to the snare on the 2 & 4 . Great harmonies folks
Great band, and I still miss Gary on the bass.
😎 awesome 😎
Maybe the toughest Beatle vocals to cover, great job!
I wanna see them
Why the hell are we comparing these bands? They're all good. Get over it, your comments are just terrible. Music is music. Now enjoy it. Great video, love this band.
Rain are a great Beatles band, so are the fab four
I've seen you guys in Salt Lake City Utah,
Gary Grimes was so good....they haven't recovered since he died.
i seen these guys play in a bar in apox 1977 for a 3.00 cover charge in ny
How is that possible when the band was founded in 1984?
Awesome amps!
Gary Grimes as Paul. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you close your eyes they sound like The Beatles...but look nothing like them...still good though..!!
Nick F they did back in the 80-late 90s
Too true. They sound great
I think they look something like them with The Ringo and George being the weakest links in the chain
RIP Gary Grimes.
Do any of you know John Gilbert? He was sick, I can't get him at his home number,
Awesome performance, truly. Vocals, harmonies, spot on. Very impressive. Only suggestion is to excuse extended band from sitting side stage while going through the mop top phase of music. The gray bearded gentleman sitting with the bored expression on his face is purely distracting. No need to be there most of the time.
I sure do miss Gary. I miss his face. Don't you think that he was the BEST Paul? I think so.
I suggest looking in to "Rain, a tribute to the Beatles". They have a right handed Paul for THIS tour, but he does a great job, and sounds just like Paul McCartney.
Paperback Writer
Rain 2:55
Was Gary suffering from his brain tumor in this video, it looks like it to me? Please answer this question if possible thanks.
Luvey1950
yeh yeh YEH!
Very, very cool!
I didn't know John Malkovich was in the Beatles.
Word
The guy playing George's part needed distortion on his guitar.
I've seen these guys (old line up Mark, Gary, Jimmy Pou, and Greg George) . This line up just seems to old to be the "1964" version of The Beatles. I found The Fab Four and Rain a tad better over all.

Drummer didn't play Rain the Ringo played it.
I admit the new Paul is way better than this one, but it's sad what happened to this one...
Ian Iachimoe
Try "Paperback Writing" with your left hand. Now try to play the bass left handed being right handed by nature...nuff said. Give him props.
white haired dude saying: "what the f**k am i doing here..."
That's so freaking true, just looking at his face , he is like WTF!! Lol.
2:17 He starts clapping :D
I’m sorry but the only one that at least sounds a little(by a little I mean a little)like the character they are portraying is the guy who did paul the rest of them do not sound anything like the Beatles especially the John. The Fab Faux
I can show you...
Paul could stand to lose a few pounds..
the line of bass is not great!!
