For anyone who wanted to know what 19 stone means, it is the British weight that translates to 266 pounds. One stone equals 14 US pounds and 19 X 14 = 266 pounds. Bon Scott spent the night with a woman who weighed 266 pounds and she gave him the ride of his life in Tasmania, Australia.
@@williancosta5563 if you listen to the line before the 19 stone, he sings 42-39-56 which would be body measurements that match up with 19 stone, certainly not 90.
I love everything about this song, but what I really like is that it's so affectionate. Like a lot of AC DC songs, it's affectionate and joyful. And I like the way in which, in a way, it celebrates womanhood. It doesn't matter if you're 'not exactly pretty' or 'not exactly small', you can still be 'a whole lotta woman'.
It's AC/DC. For a band that's so unabashedly celebrating male lust, their lyrics are quite woman-friendly. "You Shook Me All Night Long" is another example, it's about a night of great sex, but the lyrics are not "I had a good time" but "You were great". Tongue firmly in cheek, focused on the fun and the joy. Compare that to late 80s US hair metal, which cribbed heavily from AC/DC, and got this totally wrong.
All the band the last 100 years were pretty much sell outs they got pushed hard to make albums and radio singles .hate to be that guy but there an interview with Malcom and they ask him about a led Zeppelin concert he went to because he heard all the hype . His reply explains it all lol.. " I saw the lead singers long blonde hair and I left that's not rock and roll"
Music has been “pumped out” in every period since the development of commercial music recording (I don’t know so much about the era of sheet-music). We remember what stood up to the test of time, and that’s mostly - MOSTLY - because it was done by real musical craftsmen (and women) with passion. The tripe dies. We haven’t had enough time to forget the drivel of today. But we will, and in 50 years people will be talking about the few good songs we have now and saying “They just don’t make music like that anymore”. Bottom line? We remember the popular culture of eras past so fondly because, mercifully, we don’t remember that much of it.
I was at THAT gig Donnington '91, and on the video! They were younger and Angus even more active back then. That night, they were simply the best band on the planet. RIP Malcom, you are the greatest.
3 brothers George (RIP) , Malcolm (RIP) & Angus. George was a very important musician & in the Easy Beats . He then when onto to be a producer who did several of the earlier albums for his younger brothers in AC/DC. The original Young family house is about 10 minutes from me .
If you check out the EasyBeats ,Friday on my mind, you will see George Young on guitar. They were a big deal here in Australia in the 60s,then they went to England & broke up. George & Harry Vanda had careers writing ,playing & producing for many years..Malcom & Angus followed in Georges footsteps.
The song Whole Lotta Rosie is about a groupie they had in the early days of the band. And another fact about the band is their favorite musician that inspired them is Chuck Berry which was one of the original founders of rock and roll, that's where Angus Young gets a lot of his moves from when he's playing guitar, look up Chuck Berry's performance and you will see the similarities.
OK... haven't read too many of the comments so far, so I don't know if anybody's told the backstory for this song, but how I heard it, it was that after a show early on in their career, there were two girls, two groupies who were drinking with Bon, and they got him good 'n sloshed, one of em was thinner and the other was as described in the song and she told Bon sometime during the evening they were drinking, "I've had 26 rockstars so far !" So eventually Bon wakes up, his head pounding, rolls over and see's this big fat, voluptuous Rosie lying beside him and she sleepily opens one eye and croaks two words to Bon, "... twenty-seven..." and rolls over and immediately falls back asleep. LOL

Australian rock at its best. The track was recoded 100m away from where I live in Sydney - Albert Studio at 139 King. Back in the day you would see ACDC playing in pubs and bars.
Rosie was a one night stand with Bon Scott who was the original singer before the man you saw in the video; Brian Johnson. The song was recorded in 1977 from the Let There Be Rock album.
@@michaeltestro1643 Who lot of Rosie is on the Let there be rock album 1977. If you want Blood the album was released a mere six months after the band's previous studio album Powerage. Originally, a greatest hits package had been in the works called 12 of the Best but the project was scrapped in favor of a live album. Angus Young (lead guitar) and his brother Malcolm (RIP) (rhythm guitar) were both born in Scotland as was their 2nd vocalist Bon Scott (RIP). According to Bon Rosie was a lady he had been acquainted with! Their 1st vocalist Dave Evans left after the 1974 single "Can I Sit Next To You, Girl" then Bon joined and in my opinion was part of the best AC/DC recordings including Whole Lotta Rosie (1977) right up to his sad death in 1980. Their 3rd vocalist Brian Johnson (on this clip) has been with them ever since and is brilliant but there is something magical about the Bon era that was sadly lost back then.
So the story goes that the band were doing a gig in Rosebury. A mining town on the north west coast of Tasmania. (I am a Tasmanian BTW). So being a pretty isolated town a group of young lasses had driven across the island to meet the band and naturally the band members were happy to oblige. Anyhow one of the young lasses was on the larger side and Bon Scott the lead singer of the band "took one for the team" as they say. Obviously she rocked his socks off as one of the greatest songs ever written is about that night. Rosey is a tribute to the town of Rosebury where the deeds were done that night.
The song is not about a blow up doll at all. Its about a one night stand between the original singer Bon Scott and a woman he met in Tasmania. "Rosie" took him to the woodshed so to speak and rode him till he collapsed of exhaustion many hours later. And yes its Angus who is the lead guitarist. And that is what they are screaming at the start of the song is his name.
So glad to see you react to this! Epic performance! Angus is a machine! Yes the crowd was shouting his name in the beginning! Rosie was a real person, original singer Bon Scott wrote it about a women he had a wild night with! Keep those ACDC reactions coming. I suggest Hells Bells from this same concert. The Jack, or Let there be rock.
The previous singer who passed away prematurely Bon Scott was invited by a young lady to join her for dinner one night and the song is about her. Watch him sing it.
That amount of people is normal, (at least to us that experienced this stuff real-time) you people today got screwed and you can't experience what we did growing up. Oh, everyone loves Angus. From day one he was my favorite and it's cool to see new people get to see him for the first time.
You’re listening to one of the very best Rock-n-Roll bands to have ever existed. It’s is why they are in the Rock-n-Roll hall of Fame.

incredible performance, considering that Brian Johnson at 61 years old and Angus Young 56 years old on this video. These guys are magic.
I told you Rosie wouldn't disappoint. I love this song!!
You did!!!!!!! I loved it so much!!! 💞
Thats Angus Young! One of the baddest ever on guitar.
And Rosie was a BBW! NOT A DOLL !😁😁😁❤🇺🇸
He's Angus. His brother Malcom is on the other guitar, he recently passed away
God, I love Rosie!
Thank you

Rosie ain't got Nout on you lady 🙏❤️🙏
Just let me taste it. ( The video). I love how you rock!!!
The previous singer who passed away prematurely Bon Scott was invited by a young lady to join her for dinner one night and the song is about her. Watch him sing it.
Love you Bre! I look forward to your reaction videos.
That amount of people is normal, (at least to us that experienced this stuff real-time) you people today got screwed and you can't experience what we did growing up. Oh, everyone loves Angus. From day one he was my favorite and it's cool to see new people get to see him for the first time.
highway to hell, hells bells & dirty deeds from same show is nice picks too
Legend has it Bon could not walk right for days after Rosie just as it should be :-)
He broke his leg jumping off the polepit when filming the music video for let there be rock. Probably pissed
