    Looking forward to this series as a eurorack player. Would love to get familiar with the Buchla philosophy and adapt some of it.

      Didn't notice it was you when I first saw your comment ! You're the one that led me to modular synth almost 10 years ago because of your Skylab videos ! I've been dreaming of this instrument for years. As I've never been able to afford it (and probably will not be before long) I've played on eurorack synths for the last decade and decided to fulfill my Buchla dreams thanks to DIY kits ! Thanks again !

      Agreed, that’s how I found this. (Searching for tutorials to better understand the TipTip modules) … but now I’m wondering if I would prefer to build the DIY kits and have true 4U height Buchla modules that would work directly with my Easel 208c without a format converter.

    I am looking forward to watching all this! First question: How much does the DIY modules cost compared to Buchla and Eurorack modules? Thanks!

    • @synthemodulaire
      @synthemodulaire  8 месяцев назад +2

      Hi ! That's a tough question since there are many ways to get into Buchla DIY. But I'd say that a DIY 200 module would cost as much as new Eurorack module.

      I've had a lot of work since september, but I hope I can follow the series in a few weeks.
      Concerning the building of the modules, SAmodular kits are great, but you need serious skills. I'm far from an expert but I've built a lot of eurorack modules without any issues. Buchla modules gave me more work. Everything works perfectly but it was way harder. But if you have the tools, if you're careful, if you take your time, if you ask for help when in doubt, it shouldn't be a problem.

    Great series - well made! Very systematic and easy to follow explanations… now I can play Buchla in my head, until I maybe get one… 😁
    Question: what are the advantages of building a system from Buchla modules as opposed to getting an Easel? Would it be a good idea to start with an 208/Easel and then expand that with Buchla modules? Thanks 😊

    • @vincentedwardsdesign
      @vincentedwardsdesign Год назад +2

      As an Easel 208c owner, I’ve found its an ideal way to get into the Buchla universe. I’ve started buying the TipTop Buchla eurorack modules, but after discovering this video I think I might be better off building the kits which are only about 50% more expensive. The 208c is nice in that it is hard patched (you can make sounds without any patching at all) but it’s massively flexible for how compact it is. The sound is fantastic, and it can me combined with other Buchla modules to expand its potential (or program card expansions). I bought a passive format converter so that I can modulate my Easel with Eurorack modules- there’s some extra patching involved but it works quite well. I hope that’s helpful! …

    Pourquoi pas traduire en Anglais et garder ta voix française. On se tape déjà assez de tuto en English.

    • @synthemodulaire
      @synthemodulaire  3 года назад +1

      J'y ai longuement réfléchi. Et j'ai simplement fait ce choix parce que Buchla intéressera un public plus restreint et plus international. L'anglais étant plus répandu, j'ai choisi d'utiliser cette langue.
      Je prends le temps de tout traduire pour les francophones qui ne sont pas à l'aise avec l'anglais.
      Je pense que j'ai fait un peu le maximum pour contenter tout le monde, avec un contenu que je crée gratuitement sans demander aucune contrepartie.

      oui ça passerait quand même mieux, en vrai les anglais n'en auront cure vu qu'il y a déjà le top via Todd, non?
