Listening to the history of the recent Hokages, and knowing Tsunade is in no position to take the helm and Sakura wouldn’t be trusted, Shikamaru was actually the ONLY choice. Kakashi seems to have been forgotten and kishimotos statement about Kakashi having a big role also seems to have been forgotten. For a former kage to have been completely absent and not shown having any involvement since the omnipotence occurred just makes zero sense.

@orochimarupr Lee has barely had an important role in Naruto what makes you think it would change in Boruto. Orochimaru does get some love and there are hints of him being important as the story goes on, especially with his relationship with Mitsuki and he could hold some secrets to karma. Also sakura woukd be important especially with her ties to Sasuke and sarada. It will probably happen later in the story tho

He's probably pretty skeptical about the whole thing and probably doesn't believe that Sasuke turned to the dark side once again but has no evidence to prove this yet. I think both him and Shikamaru have suspicions that something else is going on especially with Ada since she's an outsider, and this whole thing about Boruto also being a traitor might be a ruse. I think somehow in the future they're going to break out of Ada's genjutsu the truth is going to be revealed

I love how you have perfectly described Naruto’s symbolism and his legacy. And the effect of his disappearance leading to 6th hokage kakashi’s legacy be tarnished because everyone see’s sasuke as a traitor once again who have collided with boruto who happened to have “killed” naruto. This takes a toll on kakashi as their former sensei too not just about legacy. That will lead to his “important role” in boruto.
I was also super confident that Kakashi was coming back but Shikamaru was def the obv other choice. I really hope we get to see kakashi play a role in the story. He was my fav in naruto and a lil sad he hasn't showed in the manga. Def a spot where i appreciate the anime adding to the story

yeah, Kakashi was a fan favorite in Naruto, and it would be great to see him play a role in the Boruto story. While he hasn't appeared in the manga yet, the anime has been adding to the story and giving us more Kakashi content to enjoy.

You obviously didn't think hard enough or just was following others opinions because Kakashi returning is one of the dumbest shii I've been hearing from y'all lmao. Shikamaru literally was already an unofficial Hokage, since he was actually running the villages daily operations for Naruto, he was making sure everything functioned properly and even was maintaining Naruto's daily tasks. If you actually paid attention you'd know that Shikamaru was literally the ONLY and best option to take over the Kage position smh. I swear y'all imposters are weird, your thoughts are illogical and clearly backed by nothing substantial.
I think there's a possibility that Kakashi also went "rogue." He could've possibly went after Sasuke to confront him after feeling betrayed from his actions but after confronting him (remember, he's one of the best trackers in the series) he was convinced by Sasuke that he's doing the right thing, even if Kakashi believes Boruto killed Naruto. It's possible that they had a small squirmish in which Sasuke turned on his sharingan and genjutsu'd Kakashi into believing that Sasuke and Boruto are doing the correct thing so Kakashi either joined Boruto and Sasuke OR he went back to the village, told them he didn't come across them and is possibly Sarada's sensei and is working with Sarada and Sumire behind the scenes. That would be another very intelligent and powerful ally for Boruto and would fit perfectly in being Sarada's sensei.

@@js2003 I wouldn't underestimate Kakashi who is stated to have gotten stronger after the war ark whereas Sasuke is arguably a shell of himself without the rinnegan, can't even absorb chakra anymore, regardless if he can't genjutsu him he may just be able to convince him as Kakashi isn't just shikamaru level intelligent, he also has a very cool and calm demeanor so Sasuke may just be able to convince him the same way Sarada convinced Sasuke. Not convince him that Boruto didn't kill Naruto but convince him that Boruto and Sasuke are doing the correct thing and saying "just trust me bro, I wouldn't betray you like that."

I do find it interesting that Shikamaru’s head was not on the stone faces during the foreshadowed battle. Plot hole perhaps? I mean, the series kicked off in 2014, the decision to have Shikamaru step in was probably not too long before the chapter even came out.

Now that I watch your video, around the 9:08 part I realize just how much all these side novels have laid foundation for everything that is happening right now in Boruto. It all makes perfect sense now why Sasuke was still not trusted and the Kages perceived him as a threat. Why would they bring that up if Sasuke was all good now? Exactly for a plot twist like the one we got. And it totally explains why Kakashi didn't come back to the Hokage's office. And the thing about Kakashi having a significant role to play in the timeskip might still not be a dropped idea. Kakashi will DEFINITELY come back into the story, and we will certainly see him extremely conflicted about the current situation. He may 100% believe that Boruto is Kawaki, but I also can see Kakashi wondering why on Earth would Sasuke help him escape, and conclude that something is off. Not about Boruto/Kawaki, but about Sasuke helping Naruto's killer. Kakashi knows Sasuke best apart from Naruto, and maybe even better than Sakura does. He understands the bond that Naruto and Sasuke share, he even met and heard Hagoromo, whose sons' reincarnations are his two male students. And thus Kakashi will start looking into/for Sasuke, and may be one of the very few people in the world taking Sarada and Sumire seriously and actually aid them, and, by extension, Sasuke and Boruto. There is so much potential here, and seeing how well these side novels resonate with the main manga, I once again trust in Kishimoto and co. giving us some good and well thought-out plot.
The novels have been referenced in Boruto's anime and in the manga before. Shueshia for the longest time was placing them in the timeline with a visual timeline between manga arcs. It's small stuff, but we see the dots connecting. That's why Sarada jumped from 1 tomoe to three tomoe by the Boro fight in the manga, because she unlocked her three tomoe in the sasuke novel when sasuke trained her and that was before the stuff with Kara. That's why you had that Jonin talking disrespectful to Sasuke calling him Uchiha and Sasuke lowering his head saying I have no rank here, but the younger guy on the unit was fanboying. The younger gen sees sasuke as a hero, but a majority still view him as a criminal.

Shikamaru might have already figured the switch out too he’s smart enough where he would figure out the inconsistencies and if he did figure out he would keep it to himself until he had more information or could do something about it like during the exams when he broke the genjutsu and laid there and pretended to still be under. He wouldn’t jump headfirst into a situation or send the village into a war they can’t win.

This sets up a great opportunity for a kakashi vs susake battle finally. It puts kakashi in his father’s shoes. It also gives him a redo of Ren. It seems as tho kakashi being a fallen hero maybe his only redemption. That would be a heck of an impact on the village and boruto and even Susake. Will kakashi be the jariya of the next generation. And Will susake defeat another mentor? How will he deal with the mental nerf of going against his beliefs and going against a Conrad. Besides,his wife, kakashi is the closest he has to a Conrad.

With what was said in discussion on this video kawaki as much as ppl can try to justify or rationalize his actions has to be taken out his action destroyed both current and the retro team 7 and its credibility, caused pain for 3 separate families the uchiha( with Sakura and Sarada possibly being scrutinized for being the wife and daughter of sasuke) ,hyuuga(an important figure of the entire clan is missing and assumed dead)uzumaki(damn near nonexistent now.) I don't know why but after reading the chapter 81 of code assault, it gaves my pain attack vibe. So the history can repeat itself here where Kakashi suddenly comes in clutch but find his end in his battle against code or any other kara member.

yes, he's under Ada's control. Omnipotence makes them look past things that should bother them and accept anything that would otherwise tell them Kawaki isn't naruto's son. In his mind, naruto's son is saying Boruto killed him and Ada is confirming it with the dojutsu that can see things in the past and present. It's double sourced in his mind.
Thats mess up. Since Adia does not understand her own powers, will it be wise to use that Justus that bring a person back to the dead. Like they did in the 4th War, for that Otsutsuki god, which they got their powers from. Or that will not work, since his soul went another dimension to be higher than any other Otsutsuki. I know that Kara has his body.

would not be surprised if Kakashi figured out that Kawaki's not Naruto's real son. I can see him fuguring it out early on and leaving himself coded messages so that Eida's jutsu won't totally affect him. He's also aware enough not to go public with this information. I can see him going to Ibiki or Orochimaru with this. Ibiki being a psychologists/master interrogator and Orochimaru a man that experimented on himself so much that things like "charm" won't phase him. Orochimaru will probably develop a jutsu to turn back time.
I'm also sure that if Ino uses mind transfer on Boruto or Sarada, that she'll read their minds and tap into their memories revealing the truth.

interesting theories, It's possible that Kakashi could figure out the truth about Kawaki and leave coded messages to protect himself from Eida's jutsu. Consulting with Ibiki or Orochimaru for their expertise could also be a strategic move. I choose to believe that kakashi exiled himself and at some point figures or already figured out whats going on. He's either traveling looking into leads or is in a cave somewhere too overcome with grief because of what happened. Im leaning towards he hasnt figured it out yet and the loss of naruto on top of the guilt he already has about minato and obito is too much for him and he's living in shame until he figures it out for sure
