Amado didn't just pull off a "feat of intelligence".
He is greatly intelligent, but he came to the realization because he had intimate knowledge with a very specific element. That being Kawaki's markings.

Yes but think this way: you are shikamaru, naruto dies in hands of boruto - his adopted son and you feel strange about it for some time. Then sarada, person who should hate boruto because he killed her idol naruto is saying that boruto is innocent every day. Then one of the smartest person on earth makes a valid argument that his memories have been altered.
Having iq over 200 would certainly make you understan something. My theory is that shikamaru knows this, maybe for some time already, but if he tells someone kawaki, eida and daemon will probably kill or capture him so he keeps his mouth shut about it until he gets a chance.

Intelligence is not what out right leads Amado to assume his memories have been altered. Amado recognizing his own work and that his current memories don’t have a HOW kawaki has had work done to him. So it’s only logical to conclude his memories have been altered because he is the only one capable of doing the work he did. Hence why he recognized it.
Shikamaru and Amado concluding their memories have been altered would be due to different circumstances.
Shikamaru would have to do detective work and use his intelligence
Amado just has to recognize his work which would lead to him thinking something is off

Amado is book smart. With Science and Math. Experimenting through creation and trial/ error. Giving him his smarts.
Shikamaru is lazy partially because of having such a high IQ. But his intelligence is more of a kind of strategy, psychology and common sense. Albeit if he applied himself I’m sure he could be just as smart as Amado.
Orchimaru would be a good example of someone who is both Intellectually smart with battle tactics and strategy. While also being my able to apply that to his Science. He’d be kinda like the middle ground. Not quite as science smart as Amado and not quite the genius in battle compared to shikamaru.

Here's something to consider when it comes to Narutos chakra signature. Granted, this was Naruto, not Boruto, but it was stated by Tsunade in the war that all Hokage's since Minato have a Hiraishin mark placed on them by the Hokage's guards. That means Tsunade, Kakashi, Naruto, and probably Shikamaru should have such marks on them. Those guards are still around, and even though it took 3 of them, it shows that several Jonin working together should be able to pull off Hiriashin to get to a Hokage. Since Boruto was shown to travel between dimensions using the same skill, it's likely Konoha could reach Naruto assuming the continuity isn't changed.
It'd take a _metric butt-tonne_ of Chakra to pull it off, but the theory is sound.
I think the factor of having to literally travel through dimensions to reach naruto with that would be a great add in to the story.
Even if they could, they would be going into a timeless dimension, so the second they entered it, they would be frozen in time and unable to do anything while in there. If there were able to pull Naruto out without having to enter, they'd be fine.

15:10 - How is Konohamaru too young?! He's currently older than Minato. He was 12 at the end of Shippuden, *an unknown time passes,* Boruto is born, now Boruto is 16. That means he is well over 28. Minato was Hokage at 24. Gaara became Kazekage at an even younger age.
Gaara's age is irrelevant. Different village, different standards. But I still think you do have a point. It's not really the age as much as it is the experience it tends to bring. Minato was chosen because he was already skilled enough to fend off entire armies and prodigy of almost unseen magnitude. Konohamaru's issue is that he simply lacks feats due to living his teen and adult years in era of peace. In eyes of everyone older than him he's simply too inexperienced comapred to pretty much anyone important in 4th war.
At some point during the Time Skip I could see Kakashi, Sakura and Shikamaru tracking down Sasuke and Boruto having a conversation and setting up a plan for Sasuke to watch over Boruto and the others to act as if they don't see the truth. Sakura and Kakashi would assume to still be "tracking" Boruto and Sasuke while leaving the Village to Shikamaru.

Remember Omnipotence simply switched Kawaki and Boruto in people's minds. Naruto's death is only presumed because Eida lied once, no supernatural power involved. I'm sure Shikamaru has known about the switch the whole time for the same reason Sumire deduced it in 79, he just needs to hide that to protect the girls' secret from Eida. Amado this chapter might have just given him license to act on what he's already known.

Shikamaru explicitly told Sumire and Sarada (back when Eida first came to the village) that they needed to maintain their position over Eida and they have an advantage over her. If he had doubts before, they are definitely confirmed with what Amado said. Def hope Shikamaru has a moment in the next chapter, let us know what that smarty is thinking.
Exactly. They only believe that because they have no reason to doubt Hokage's son and the person who's walking universal security camera. If evidence is presented pointing to the contrary, there's no reason why anyone wouldn't be able to doubt the validity of the things they said. It would actually be quite hilarious if the next plot twist ended up being that while they still believe that Kawaki is Boruto, they also believe that since he and Eida lied about Naruto's fate they're now probably responsible for making him disappear. So in a way, Boruto still ends being the outcast, just not the real Boruto. Let's also not forget that everyone still remembers how Boruto cheated in Chuunin exams and how Naruto humiliated him. Or that he's still otsutsukified. There's plenty of reasonable explanations for why Boruto would turn against his dad. And he's been acting weirdly since then, characters like Mitsuki and Hiwamari and probably plenty of others must have noticed that. Maybe that's because of the guilt for what he did or because of he's not himself anymore.
But honestly, I'd rather see Boruto and Sarada receiving that easy way to turn the tables. Boruto, the main character becoming total outcast was cool twist. I don't want Kishimoto to immediately start backtracking and undoing it without Boruto and Sarada earning that. I guess best way would to compromise would be that they do a bit of detective work and figure out what Kawaki did and reveal the truth about Naruto for the world.

@@ge_ka_bu you're mistaken, Eida still believes the girls are subject to her charm. Shikamaru needs to keep that secret because he knows he'll need to count on them to eliminate Eida if she turns on the Leaf. Also, we now know he has figured out the switch in the past and just doesn't remember because Omnipotence has continued to smooth over people's memories long after activation.
This theory puts an interesting alternative interpretation to Shikamaru's earlier statements to Sarada, that at the rate she's going, she might not even continue being a Kunoichi, let alone Hokage.
It's _worded_ that "I'm going to strip your qualifications as a Shinobi if you keep acting out", but the _implication_ would--in accordance to the theory--be "Yes, we _both_ have doubts, but if you don't _shut up_ about them for a bit any _actual_ culprit will realize they missed you, and they'll _kill_ you before you achieve anything with your career; and then _I'll_ lose my only hope of getting Naruto back, and _me_ away from this _stupid_ desk".
In effect, he's doing to Sarada what Hiruzen _tried_ to do with Naruto: keep them safe and out of the spotlight until the necessary parties reach the level of power they need to be to deal with the coming danger. The difference, of course, is that Hiruzen's efforts were partially hamstrung by Danzo being Danzo.
I had been speculating for a couple chapters that shikamaru already knew about the memory change. I find it hard to believe that he wouldn’t have given any credence to what Sarada was telling him when he was aware they were immune to the effects of eida, so if she came to him it’s likely he would think about it and maybe he pretended not to know because Eida would know and there isn’t anyone in the village who could directly beat kawaki

Because when u think abt it shikamaru being the most intelligent person among the 5 great nations and possibly the entire world must have given a thought to what sarada has been yapping about for the past three or so years... Because his battle IQ is so high we can speculate that he is like the professor from money heist nd he carefully analyses every possible outcome ...

Both Amado and Shikamaru were shown to have resistance to Eida's omnipotence through her charm affecting them both differently. Sasuke also didn't display the usual infatuation when he saw her.
So it's safe to assume that if one of them is doubting their memories, the other two would as well.
How the hell Shikamaru showed that he has resistance to Eida's omnipotence?
@@ge_ka_bu Eida's charm thing is her omnipotence, when exposed to her when she first shows up in the leaf, him and amado feel a strong mental discomfort instead of the usual infatuation that most other characters experience, and he's able to hold her against her will in his shadow for a limited time, while most other people can't even think of doing something against her when near her.

Code put a claw mark and even used his claw but couldn't finish his attack. Code without limiters still couldn't hurt her.

I'm not saying they can hurt her, we get direct explanation by Amado that it effects them differently because their minds are stronger when Shikamaru asks what's happening, the manga shows what Shikamaru is thinking, he's not putting up a front he's trying to strategize at the moment by analyzing what's happening to himself and he's not attracted to her, he's seeing her as an enemy that he's unable to hurt.

2. Knows about Eida potential(BTW,except Boruto,Sasuke,Amado and Kawaki- no one knows that her real power is omnipotence. Sarada and Sumire understood that it was her but they don't know what's her real power)
3. Has a personal evidence that was created by him and no one can "copy" what he did(photos and documents can be faked by regular person but karma-seal- only he can do).
4. What if Amado actually put himself into "safe" zone and did something to his body/brain that can resists omnipotence?
I agree, but I also think you're underestimating Amado. I think he has to know that he's being monitored, or at the very least suspects that Sumire will rely their conversation to Shikamaru. The question is why is Amado revealing this now?
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Shikamaru knew or at least suspected this for awhile. Because, remember, he specifically told Sumire & Sarada that they were basically their only defense against Eida. Meaning, even if it was going against his own instincts, he'd still have to give more credence to what they were saying/doing. But he couldn't actively side with them & Boruto because of the possibility that Eida would find out & tell Kawaki
And I think shikamaru's contemplative silence at the end of the chapter was partly because of this and also because he's wondering why Amado is revealing all of this now, even though he most likely knows he's being surveilled (either by cameras/mics or through Sumire)
Basically I think we're seeing two Master level schemers/strategizers trying to out do each other without letting the other one know too much, while also knowing the other one most definitely knows that they know... that they know. I confused myself by the end there, but I think you can get what im trying to say 😅

Exactly, if I were in Amado's position, I'd be more surprised if I were NOT monitored in some way than if I were, especially with someone as Shikamaru as the hokage. The right question, as you said, is why now? I'd say that has to do with the attack on Konoha. If I'm going with the assumption that he's heard Boruto was spotted in Konoha confronting Code and easily incapaciting him, then he needs a way to make it possible for Boruto to stay without being attacked by the whole village. One, because he needs to confirm who actually has the mark he needs to revive his daughter (he knows his memory was tempered with, but not in which way, which can be crucial in determining how to proceed next). Two, because Boruto has most likely information on the claw grimes that they all need to survive. Three, having Boruto around significantly raises their odds for survival, again.
The only one who has such political power is Shikamaru, obviously, but even he will need proof to publicly exonerate Boruto. So giving him tangible evidence for them having their memory tempered will help them all.

Probably somewhere in between, but whatever the case, I still think he's one of if not the most dangerous person the Leaf needs to worry about. And I think it would be really cool to see him & Shikamaru in a battle of wits for the rest of this arc, I really hope they play that up
@@jsull81 I agree, though I suspect they both are already engaged in that battle of wits. I enjoy Amado as a character quite a bit, he's quite the engaging, morally (dark) grey character. We know he doesn't mind experimenting on children, and doesn't hesitate in manipulating and sacrificing others, will absolutely betray you if necessary with every good rational. He only does things that benefit him, but not in a short-sighted way. He's clearly playing the long game. Shikamaru knows that, and likely knows that he's being played, but allows it for now because it benefits Konoha for the time-being while investigating his real motives. Honestly, Amado and his mysteries have made the series much more interesting for me in general.

I'd add another thing. I work in science and research so I kinda relate to the scene when I read that scene with Amado.
For scientists like us, evidence is king, followed by logic. Whenever anyone says something we always think, "Where is this person's proof?" Thus, for Amado, Kawaki's altered body is an evidence of his tinkering. Then if his memory says something else, his memory may be wrong.
I relate it to a real-life habit of mine where I'd always list down everything that I spend in my phone. Then there were times I'd be drunk, pass out, and won't remember anything. The next day, I'd see some food and beer on my list even though I don't remember consuming them. However, I'd believe it since I know my habit.
I don't think Shikamaru's intelligence has ever been put to question. Rather this more a question if he's able to or has overcome omnipotence once the wrench was thrown in. We ultimately still don't know why Sarada and Sumire were unaffected, so there are several potential factors at play here.
Personally though I do feel like Shikamaru put two and two together. That rather than confront Kawaki or Boruto about it he'll likely spy on them to get more answers first. I doubt Boruto really cares to tell Shikamaru at this point. He would've done that a lot sooner if he really felt that Shikamaru could overcome omnipotence.
Yep, this really isn't matter of intelligence. Even the most genius logical thinker can still be very-close minded and at point that intelligence is massive double-edged sword. It can be used to argue against existing hypothesis just as well it can be used to prove the current belief. Naruto is one of his closest friends, he's angry at his murdered, this is a test if he can overcome his personal bias and have enough open mindset to doubt everything he has ever believed in. If he can't his high-powered brains only serves to disprove everything Sarada, Boruto and Sumire might throw at him.
Shikamaru is a character in a Shonin anime; his intelligence looks tactical rather than practical because of his circumstances. His political genius was not applicable when he was a Genin or Chunin but now as a Hokage we should see more of it.
I feel like Shikimaru is gonna flip the switch on Kawaki. Kawaki is just gonna snap when Shikimaru says "yaaaa were not just getting rid of Boruto anymore."
When Kawaki snaps it will panel out to Ino saying "Ive located Naruto." ... and then youll see Shikimaru try to subdue Kawaki and thats when the battle between Kawaki and Boruto begins.

I saw it in a comment on one of your videos and I think it was a very on point observation: Kawaki, Eida and Daemon are all forces within Konoha that are completely unchecked. Therefore it is safe to assume that even if Shikamaru has figured out that Boruto is innocent relatively early, he would keep that to himself and lay low, in order to prevent the three nuclear bombs he has under his care from going off. Until he has the means to covertly do something about these threats, he essentially has to play along and wait for an opportunity.
Which might be coming soon, seeing how Boruto is now back and in the open.
Also, it's worth pointing out that he knows Sarada is immune to Eida's charm, which gives him grounds to suspect Eida might have done something to all of them except Sarada (and Sumire). He also knows that Amado has installed a shutdown mechanism into Kawaki... which Kawaki does not.
Edit: according to rewritten memories, Shikamaru should also think that Eida has hots for Boruto... but knowing Eida, she kept demonstrating that to be incorrect and Shikamaru kept working with her for intel in spite of her supposed allegiance with the enemy of the Village. All the more evidence for him knowing something is up.

I think Shikamaru is playing the long game. I think that his fights about boruto with Sarada is to extract information and test his theory. I think he smart enough to know that he needs to be in the Hokage position to convince the village of whatever he finds, hence he needs the power. I think he also knows that he just went running his mouth that he would get people hurt or himself exiled or ignored. He may not havr above average personal intelligence but this is a battle situation still. And when you think about it everyday intelligence when dealing with people of means you putdown hyper intelligence in order to have friends and make allys.
I feel as if Shikamaru’s reign will be like danzo’s where he will be hokage for a while but won’t get a stone face or be the official 8th Hokage
People need to realize, Amado is way smarter than Shikamaru. Shikamaru is just smarter in a battle, but Amado has consistently better intelligence, strategy, deduction and everything else

Considering gen jitsu is a major power in Naruto universe and how everyone was put in the eye of the moon false reality then the smart characters should always have the thought or idea in the back of their heads that the reality they are experiencing may not be real and things may not be how they seem.
As interm Hokage, Shikamaru is fufiling a role similar to his father, Shikaku, after the death of Hiruzen and before Tsunade arrivel.
Ive always been a fan of Shikamaru. I think he's definitely the type of person who gathers as much intel as he can before he makes a decision. I think Shikamaru has probably been gathering that intelligence for the last three years. He leads a city of people that have memories about Boruto's guilt, so he wouldn't be able to just give Boruto a pass. And making it known that he doesn't believe his own memories could just trigger a fresh new brainwashing, so Shikamaru is gathering intel, and waiting until it's the right time to act

I’m firm the direction of this show atleast for upcoming arc takes inspiration from dbz/ HxH . Delta and dameon are two cyborg siblings one a boy one a girl and the brother the muscle in dbz Android 17,18 are two Android both siblings aswell same situation. The shinju are like cell purpose ( instinct ) to absorb data get stronger and also simlar to chimera ant because more or less the same thing but narutoverse take on it . The way I see this playing out going be pain type of invasion bunch of epic battles but the shinju will start getting the upper hand and boruto will be forced to use karma but there a flip side momoshiki will take the opportunity to wreak havoc very simlar to shibuys incident in jjk killing somebody in the processs . This will end up boruto going complety rogue and kashin koji have a preset agreement if he ever becomes a liability there partnership ends probably end up in the leaf training konohameru . Due to shikimaru and the rest of shinobi alliance seeing the overwhelming force of these threats they will turn to science . This has been forshadow so many times show/ manga the use of clones cyborgs even Yamato genetic tampering and somehow kishimoto will bring samuri 8 to this verse . The era of waiting 15-20+ year for generational talent over with they will clone strongest shinobi good or bad pass thier prime . Kawaki chapter 74 before he sent naruto off Litteraly said shinobi fighting threats they can’t match in power is suicide and famous quote “the age of shinobi over “ this era of ninja tech . The people I see dying is shikidai this arc and rock lee maybe Sakura , and dameon or eida . If shikimaru ever gets a power up I hope it’s something with a hax like hidan immortality ritual the abilty to tank attacks and have a voodoo effect compliments his shadow posseion and iq allowing him to fight enemy way stronger then him . Shikimaru shadow posseion has always been watered down since naruto part 1 so many people have broke out of it makes shikimaru not imtimdating because he has no way of eliminating threats by outsmarting them.

The obvious theory is there, why would sasuke go rogue with boruto and kakashi major role was also training boruto. Hence flying thunder god technique along with rasengan variants which is why he never took back up the hokage position. But what kakashi is doing now is more important.

I agree shikamaru has intelligence for strategy and psychology. Where Amado is book smart. This being said if shikarmaru were to have gone into science or something else he’d excel. Where Amado as a ninja may not have the same likelihood for success because he is book smart

Amado is a creative genius, Shikamru is a strategic genius (though Amado is also strategic given what he did with Koji and Jigen) . Amado would clearly have a more obvious reason to doubt considering he is the one who attached the marking he made, Shikamaru has nothing like that to compare with Boruto and Kawaki to doubt there is a difference. He's never trusted Amado so that is an obvious reason for his spying on him. They never found Naruto or Hinata's bodies so its quite possible they don't 100% believe they're dead for that reason as they only have the word of a cyborg (Eida) that they died.
Its a decent theory, especially with Sarada always proclaiming Boruto's innocence, that alone should at least give Shikamaru some reason to investigate further. So i'd say Shikamru likely had doubts but couldn't come to the complete conclusion like Amado did (until hearing Amado that is).
Shika is definitely up to something no doubt about that also I think he is overdue for a power up

If this indeed the plan, Kishimoto really needs to be extra careful about how he handles it. I don't want the Omnipotence plot twist to become the type of season finale for example Supernatural frequently used where something major happens like one of the protagonists dies and in first episode of the next season they're immediately brought back to life and the status quo is essentially the same. Kishimoto set up a story where the main character is now the outcast, that was incredibly bold move that broke the status quo completely and is something that's kinda setting Boruto apart from most other shonen atm. If Kishimoto now refuses to write the story with the restrictions that plot twist created and just chooses to let Boruto back in almost immediately without him or Sarada doing anything to earn that, that immediately waters down the impact that plot twist and everything else that follows.
And it's not honestly it's not even matter of whether the revelsal of the change can be explained in universe, it's more about the intent than the exact details. The intent was that it's now Boruto who's all alone apart from Sasuke and maybe some neutral parties who don't care about Naruto. His goal became to survive and to undo what was done and to reunite his family. If the first two are solved on their own immediately when we cut back to the story, why was any of this necessary? Why was it necessary to create closest thing to literal divine intervention if the only result of it is that Boruto is still allowed back in the village but everyone just gives him mean looks? If Kishimoto does this, at least he needs to take his time and make Sarada and Boruto earn back Boruto's trust bit by bit in a way that we can see it, not just off screen or with some cheap anime magic trick. Otherwise all the "Boruto bad" comments just received a lot of validity they didn't need to have.
But I also have to point out this: Omnipotence only switched Boruto and Kawaki. Naruto being dead wasn't part of that illusion, just something Eida said afterwards. And while nobody really had any reason to doubt someone who sees everything and the person who they saw as Hokage's son, it's still the part that they can shake off with sufficient evidence. That's what Kishmoto needs to point out if he already wants to start Boruto's "redemption arc."

Shikamaru has tools he can use in this game of Shogi he seems to be playing, back when pain assaulted the Leaf village and Inoichi Yamanaka was searching the rain village Shinobi memories, those memories were being printed off onto a sheet of scroll presumably to be accessed at a later time if need be, Shikamaru could just request that Ino search through Boruto’s memories , and assess what their scroll tells them after, then request that Kawaki also has his memories searched, to which Kawaki will refuse, exposing that there is in fact something that he is hiding, this is a checkmate move
Funniest thing about all this is that in retrospect someone could just ask Sakura to run a blood test.

Well there is someone in Konoha who can sense Naruto- Himawari. And given how she feels about Boruto the fact that he's back in the village makes that reveal extremely relevant, and since Himawari told this to Shikamaru's son it's not unlikely that he'll find this out if she hasn't already said it to him.

I've got a basic pragmatic point that has been glossed over or just completely missed. Shikamaru would ask a very basic question when he found out Boruto killed Naruto : Where is Naruto's body?
If Boruto killed Naruto with Isshiki's power, there would be no reason to hide his body.
What if Sarada took the eyes from the Sasuke divine tree? Would she be able to get in eternal MS? Would she get something entirely new? Would this be an opportunity to not have to kill off Sasuke and still meet the requirements for her to unlock a new eye?

So what im hesring is Shikamaru still had doubts and isnfoing to take this conversation as a way to help fuel those doubts. He may then order someone like Ino to remove her chakra sensor from Konoha to search for Naruto. Afrer finding Naruto's chakra signature(probably after a good while)he will realize that he is in fact being misguided and Ino will also have doubt now. They can then bring in Sarada and ask hwr to bring Boruto to them because they believe their memories to have been altered and thats how Boruto will be in the village and able to figut Kawaki.

Been re reading Naruto manga and in the first 60 chapters. I think it goes very underlooked how shikamaru can control shadows. Shikamaru was nerfed way harder than rock lee by a long shot. Shikamaru could arguably have his own series. Shikamaru vs Hidan was literally the last decisive battle in the entire series. In the beginning every fight almost every move was explained to a science. After the Hidan fight Naruto went full avatar last airbender where they were literally just throwing elements at each other. It’s weird how in the beginning the running gag was that Naruto wasnt cooler than than the supporting characters. There’s a panel during the chunin exams where choji breaks the 4th wall and comments how naruto couldn’t even be the main character of his own comic. Shikamaru got nerfed because he was way too cool, arguably cooler than sauske
How was Shikamaru nerfed exactly??? Nothing you say mentions a way he portrayed as weaker, even in the Chunin Exams there's PLENTY of characters who'd beat him. He isn't that strong, Sasuke, Neji, Rock Lee, Gaara, Shino, and debatably Kankuro would've won in a fight against him. Not to mention Shikamaru in Shippuden wouldn't fair that well against Zabuza much less anyone else with relevant strength at that point like Sasori or Deidara. He beat Hidan yeah but after DAYS of planning and setting up, if they just randomly met each other he would die

Ehhhh i disagree. Kakashi is retired. I say let him enjoy his hot springs. He's ignoring the important Konoha duties just like when Jiraiya did. Not EVERY character needs to still be relevant, if he DOES show up in the manga i'd prefer one panel of him saying he isn't interested in a hot spring with Guy, fits his character a lot more
