    I had my first 50 mins drive on a high way yesterday. It was a heart racing experience. I nearly peed on me 😪😵 'cause of trucks. Trucks coming too close behind me, Honking at me, ohhh My God it was a hell of an experience. Don't even mention the ones driving pass me and felt that close to me. Me panicking and my heartbeat rising. I had to increase my speed and change lanes to let the trucks pass me by. But that I still feel it right now. And I'm thinking of my next day, I am still shaking.

    Hey man, thanks for making this video. I hope it makes better drivers for out there. Regarding the driving at 60km/h past a police car parked, yeah it seems to be more or a thing in the west where I am from. You see that a lot in Calgary for instance on the deerfoot. But in ontario it's more vague to just slow down below the speed limit probably because going 60 all of a sudden on the freeways would be so much more dangerous here probably causing a pileup.

    Changing the lanes in highway is like roller coaster task . Could u guide us?

    • @penguinpie5056
      @penguinpie5056 Год назад

      lane change: 1. check side mirrors 2. shoulder check to check blind spot 3. signal, 4. shoulder check again. 5. If clear begin the lane change. In general when you do the lane change it should be a smooth transition over maybe 5 seconds and you want to make it predictable for the people around you but also just assume everyone driving in Toronto is an idiot because they are.
      Also try to keep an eye out for cars that might be speeding up or might try to enter the lane you are trying to go to and be more cautious and a little slower to enter the lane so you can abort if they do something stupid.

    In the U.S, if there are multiple lanes and any car is parked on the shoulder, you are required by law in many state to move over one lane if you can do so. Sometimes you can't because a car is next to you but if not, you must move over. There is, however, no penalty for not reducing the speed if you don't. You should slow down if you can't move over but you're not breaking the law if you don't.

      Your wrong buddy. Use proper lane discipline, not blindly follow speed limit. You don't sit in the left lane and follow the speed limit, your danger to others. Stay to the right if your going to just blindly follow speed limit, or go even slower if you want, I don't care, as long as you stay out of the way.

      As long as it don’t have any negative effect for you on the road, don’t mind it. People tend to drive over the limit solely just because. And as for driving over the limit, that’s an absolute yes if your examiner sees you going a certain amount over the limit.

    After I passed my G licence years ago, I used to drove from Mississauga to Etobicoke going to my work everyday for about 8 months. I found job in Mississauga so I stoped driving in highway. Now I am scared to drive in highway especially merge and changing lanes. I don't feel confident anymore and I am nervous, maybe it's because of accident happened to me before. Somebody hit my car few times side swipe and hit from the back. Please help me how to become more confident entering the highway.

      I felt the same way when I moved to Toronto. I had to do a total of about 10 lane changes on the 427 and 401 to get to work. The best thing is honestly to just keep doing it. It might also help to practice it during a time with less traffic. Ultimately in the worst case scenario you don't make your exit and take the next one. Sometimes that is the smartest thing. I feel for you. The drivers in Toronto are the scary ignorant and stupid and just so dangerous.

    • @wizardsuth

    Are you allowed to slightly brake on the acceleration ramp to fit in a gap behind a line of cars that wont let you in? I was told you cant ever brake in the acceleration lane, but what would you do in that situation?

    • @penguinpie5056
      @penguinpie5056 Год назад +1

      you should basically try to match speed enough to fit a gap, whether that is slowing down or speeding up. The worst thing is to totally stop because it makes it way more dangerous. But I have had that happen and sometimes that's all you can do. Normally the other drivers should also speed up or slow down to make gaps or change lanes if they can. Basically to answer your question yes you can brake if necessary but it's better to either maintain a moderate speed, let them pass and take the next gap or else speed up to get ahead of them. Above all else, try to keep one eye on what they're doing because very often people will adjust if they see you. Oh and in general normally you should be planning to merge on at the speed limit if you can (a lot of people go way too slow) and also try to merge in and out from one lane to another quickly and cleanly (people here are really bad at that and tend to hover between lanes for too long IMO).

    Stop listening to driving instructors and use proper lane discipline on the highway instead. Sadly, the driving instructors and some cops don't know how to use proper lane discipline.
    Multiple lanes have a purpose. You don't just pick a random lane to drive in as you please.
    Understand that, the traffic speed varies. If you blindly just follow the speed limit because " the government says so", without any situational awareness, your a danger to yourself and others.
    The proper lane discipline is as follows (on a 3+ lane highway):
    The most right lane is for slow traffic.
    The next lane to its left is for fast/through traffic.
    The final left lane is for passing.
    If you haven't noticed by now, 99.9% of exit ramps are on the right. 99.9% of merging ramps are on the right. So therefore it makes "sense" for slow traffic to keep right. Right is this way ->, Not this way

      I concur. Developing road sense takes time but most highway drivers I've seen, and I've seen a lot driving semi for 30 years, have little ability to keep their mind on what they are doing. Driving is a full time job and thinking about what your weekend will be like or something else not immediately associated with what your doing will cause stress, anxiety, and accidents. Paying attention to your infotainment system will likely kill you or someone else. I try to use cruise control on my car on the highway but that's almost impossible because most drivers have little ability to maintain a constant speed. It's almost like they just can't make their minds up as to how fast they want to drive. When driving near big truck, remember, if you can't see the driver, he/she can't see you. If driving on a freeway at higher speeds makes you nervous, stay off them. The most dangerous driver on the road isn't the aggressive type but the timid ones that get easily confused and panic. .
