Hello from America! I read a lot of Conrad (born Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski) in my college days and I was astonished to find out that he didn't learn English until he was in his 20s. English may have been his "second language" but he is one of the most skilled writers in this language who ever lived. The brooding "Heart of Darkness" still gives me shivers. Do you have any favorite Conrad novels or stories?

Also my son's favorite who turned 18 this summer. He resembles the character physically yet he conflicts him paying the price of not following suit while Lord Jim pays the price for following suit one time that he shouldn't have. This book answered my son's all time question..... how much emotional devastation is felt when you simply follow suit while you know it is wrong and goes against your better judgement. Give me your thoughts if you have read it.

For a a guy (me) who is in a constant state of anxiety over being 59, and knowing that the end is closer than the beginning, really resonated with me. At the beginning when he starts talking, he provides a small diatribe on the pros and cons of being 60, and the attendant fear, depression and anxiety associated with getting old. He philosophically articulates the hope's and fears of being 60. I have never heard anyone articulate someone's quasi-tormented state of mind at getting older, expressed in a kind, sensitive and compassionate way, like he understands the profound emotional duress that is associated with getting older.
I'm 62 this year and turning 60 sure is a time of reflection.When you are looking for the future and realize you are in the future it makes you thankful for everyday. Especially when you start to see people you went to school with dying left and right.

Other times they deem the video to be unacceptable for ads and won't allow it. It's a whole mess I've watched a few videos on how it works because I have no life lol
I don't pay for cable...I pay for youtube premium...see zero ads...when I watch tv...it is 90% youtube and about 10% other streaming. Cheaper than cable and never see ads! ❤

He speaks in scholarly language, makes grammatical and syntax references as if the teams of scholars that previously translated it to the way that we generally read it as today are wrong, I just have to shake my head and walk away. I can't believe this. Maybe you can explain to me, why some channels, lets say yoga or meditation have one or more ads, when others have none.
