Sorry for the nube question. Tippped the bike over and added 1/3 of oil filter space with oil. When picking the bike up i noticed there was fluid on my carpet. It wasnt gas. Coolant? Is it normal
That's right. Rocky Mountain also gave an oil change and missed this vital step. Lots of self taught gurus' on RUclips mate. Trust but verify, they are not all as smart as you think they are. That goes for 3.5 and 4hr oils changes ROTFL. What a clown
Quick question, where/how do you dispose all those chemical waste-products? Most Auto-Zones in my area always say their collector is full or want to know exactly what is in the waste. Oil and contact cleaner don't make a nice combo for collection spots. I want to be ecologically conscious.

Just bought a 2023 KTM 250 XCF. This is my first four stroke ever ! Have always used Bel-Ray in my bikes for over 45 years with EXCELLENT results for all my two strokes. Do you think the Bel-Ray EXS 10W 50 is a very good ? superior ? or is it an inferior oil to use in this bike or any of these new four strokes in your opinion ?
I just changed my shift shaft seal and sprayed a bunch of brake clean to clean shaft after seal was out. I was wondering if break clean could contaminate the oil or would it evaporate before it reached it. The question about contact cleaner made me think about it
Question, I just drained my oil in my 2010 yz 450f and put in the 1 quart that it’s supposed to have (from what the owners manual says). I notice that when I start the bike, the oil goes to the top of the sightglass and starts bubbling a little bit. Looks like air bubbles floating to the top. Do I have too much oil!? Need help!
Howzit Jay , 2 questions for you . How much oil you running in the gasgas MC450F? (Same motor as the ktm as you know) And what other oil can you recommend as I don’t get the shell rotella here in South Africa . Great videos by the way , always watching on Instagram 👍🏻💯
hey there great video, quick question. My kids race two stroke dirt bikes, would you use that shell rotella oil for that as well? I've tried all kinds of different oils and they all seem to break down really quickly with racing conditions. Thanks!
I have the exact same Bike, and my Oil looks just like new even after 10H. Maybe the Oil you guys use tears more fast so you need to replace it after 4H.
... he never did tell us why he didn't warm the bike up first. Along with a few other things. Also 4hrs is ridiculous unless you're using mazola vegetable oil.
I didnt warm up because its all at the bottom of the engine after sitting- as for the other deal -- you must not be around much racing but regardless of what oil you use it can be as early as one sand/mud moto and your oil is shot in 40 minutes. Or over 8-10 if easy trail-dualsport riding. Thus its a good idea to simply check how your oil looks after changes and then go longer or shorter based on that. You sound like a smart guy so I assume you can see that and tell. Thanks for watching --
@@dirtbiketv1 Its not about being smart, its about personal experience. You say 8-10hrs for easy trail-dual sport riding? My KTM 450exc has over 525hrs on it, oil & filter changes every 50hrs (using only motorex oil) just had its FIRST top end rebuild and the cylinder still had the original cross hatchings present and didn't even need re-plating. just a new piston, rings & timing chain and valve seals. I ride in all conditions, including sand (in the summer) and Mud (in the winter).
Less than 4 hrs suggestion?? Shieesh, where im from everybody bets on oil changes @ 8hrs.... I did it every 4hrs on my bike and was called crazy hahahahah it still blew up before 50hr mark :( Kawasaki 450, piece of shit bike. Fun to ride yeh, so is every other bike.
CHANGE ENGINE OIL AT 3.5HRS!!!!!!! WHAT IS THE BASIS FOR THIS ADVICE LOL, WHAT A CROCK, EVEN THE MANUFACTURER DOESN'T CALL FOR THIS rotfl. yOU MUST SELL OIL CHANGE KITS ROTFL.
"That how you do it, Roddo?" LOL.... love it. Thanks, Jay!
I've got 150 hours on my 350 and no gasket leaks yet. Great reminder to do so.
I thought KTM suggested tilting the bike over & filling the filter holder area around 1/3 way with oil before putting the filter back in?
It does. It's in the manual.

That tiny bit of oil you flush by dry cranking isn't worth it in my opinion. I wouldn't lean on the film strength of used oil.
Great info Jay! I filmed a video like this one 3 weeks ago and it came out today, same as yours. Great minds think alike? We need to ride again soon!
Ya we need it to cool down and a bit of rain would also be nice!
Thank you for your videos
I always dip the new filter in fresh oil
I noticed the oil was a 15w-40 - my owners manual states a 10w-50
Usually says 10-40 15-40 or 5-40 only difference is on cold start
rear facing drain bolt is pretty tough to get a torque wrench on anyway
Wondering what weight of oil you are using? The 10w60 motorex is just too pricey, 30 bucks a litre in Canada.
email me for exact details
What about #3 bolt to drain as well as shown in manual?
Ya missed step one...drink coldies

Great Video, which grease do you use?
Surely spraying contact cleaner into the engine can't be good? Even wiping it out or letting it drain there will be some residue left
Nope - all gone --

Why not take the bottom Allen head bolt out instead of running the engine on old oil film? Just my $0.02
What weight is the Rotella oil you're using ? I live in Canada and just bought my first Husky FC350
Hello buddy
I've bought a 2019 te250i and I've bought motorex 4t 15w 50 oil for the gear box.
Is that ok?
Could I run Rotella 15w40 in my 2023 Husqvarna 501
How much gear oil do I put in my husky tx 125 2019 ?
I have a 2022 mc250f is it safe to use that Rotella 15w40 or would u run the synthetic Rotella 15w40 on it ?
Great video!
Should you grease the oil filter rubber before?
You can soak it --
What were you saying about not warming the bike up?
not critical and all of the oil is at the bottom of the engine if its been sitting--
I use to warn the bike before, and then let It sit. It drains faster and easier than cold engine. We change its viscosity.

Where is the oil plug for 2021 GasGas MC 125?
Email me pictures of the bottom and left side of engine and I will hep you out- go to my about or contact page on IG to get my email --
Hey Jay do you still recommend the T4 for the newer 350’s? My 22 GasGas recommends 10w50. Thoughts? Thank you!
Yes works great- email further questions--
@@dirtbiketv1 thank you!
Do you also recommend T4 for 2 stroke gear boxes? Husky tpi 300. Few hours from a ktm/husky dealer. Looking for a alternative oil.
Yes
FYI.. Rekluse no longer recommends Rotella is you're using their products but otherwise it's a great value.
that does not concern us :-) We do our own clutching LOL
Would you run the same oil on the 2T bikes?
Hello Jay How much you run in Yamaha YZ450FX
hey Jay. What are your thoughts on stainless steel (reusable) oil filters?
we like the cheap paper and do it every or every other time-
Nothing on the oil filter??? No grease or oil?
For sure no grease - Yes, you can presoak the filter in oil if you like.
hey there great video, quick question. My kids race two stroke dirt bikes, would you use that shell rotella oil for that as well? I've tried all kinds of different oils and they all seem to break down really quickly with racing conditions. Thanks!
Yes it works well- cheap so you can change it regularly - email any other questions
@@dirtbiketv1 thanks so much for the quick reply, I'll give it a shot!
Proper bike care.
Thanks for the info.
Does KTM use a shared sump or separate for the transmission and engine?
shared
Are you using marine grease on the threads?
Anti sneeze or grease.
I have the exact same Bike, and my Oil looks just like new even after 10H. Maybe the Oil you guys use tears more fast so you need to replace it after 4H.
They could run 10 hours and there oil would look fine, it’s just not right to go more then 8 on any bike these days
