The Bombardier-Alstom HHP-8 is a type of twin-cab electric locomotive manufactured by Bombardier and Alstom for Amtrak and MARC.
Amtrak decided to convert the HHP-8 into a Non-Powered Control Unit (NPCU) removing the power components inside the engine and retain the control stand for push pull operations. HHP-C 9750 was originally HHP-8 #661. The HHP-C (HHP-8) is expected to enter revenue service on the Keystone Corridor soon.
On February 10th, 2024, Amtrak Extra #866 was doing a test run from Philadelphia to New York Penn and return. The leader was HHP-C #9750 with a Phase III Amfleet Cafe Car #85999 , Metroliner cab car #9632 in the middle, 7 amfleets and ACS-64 #637 at the rear end.

Meanwhile MARC still uses them as actual locomotives. There could be more HHP-Cs planned based on the success of this one.

i love how the tracks are concrete brand new awesome looking while the roof of the station is sagging from being so old and neglected. Priorities man priorities. you can tell trains were longer when the station was newer. the platforms look like they could handle a 16 car train like The Broadway Limited with ease. its sad seeing just a 8 car train carrying a 3rd of the passenger load. Also an easy way of saving on operating cost is run trains twice as long at half the frequency. 11:51 NOW that's a train. Theres like 15 cars.
