The reason 2pac is the goat because he’s not just one thing. He can be whatever you want him to be. He’s got it all. He’s got that hard shit, sentimental, introspective, commercial stuff, etc. You can’t put him in a box.

My interpretation of "Mama's just a little girl" line is him referring to the theory that you are the age of your earliest trauma. We see the world through the lense of our unresolved trauma. Deep stuff im just understanding at 43 and he was in his 20's when he wrote this. Crazy. We lost a genius mind.

This song isn’t literally about Pac. Pac had a gift of being able to tell your story better than you could. Pac didn’t have 2 brothers for example (twins)… Pac siblings Set and Mo ain’t dead. This song is about being black in America. A big issue we have is teenage pregnancy, immature people bringing new life into being and end up being horrible influences because they don’t have to capacity to be anything else. How we going have a strong black society and our mothers are mentally little girls? The woman teaches the nation first because of her role in child bearing… He could articulate the issue better than most so he was like a reporter to the world the atrocities going on in the ghetto. He’ll throw some personal flavor in there but a lot of these stories are allegories that have a message he wants you to grasp.

    • @GD-dm3lm
      @GD-dm3lm 3 месяца назад +2

Right, alot of Pac’s lyrics arent literal or about his personal life. He was a poet and storyteller, so he would use relatable Black American life circumstances as allegories for his messages in his songs

His music reached us on the other side of the pacific. This rapper everybody was talking about, we would get crazy hearing songs like How do you wanted, California love and Hit ‘m up. And then at home when we’re alone, we would listen to ‘Dear Mama’, holding back tears. That was Pac, emotional and passionate in every song. He brought me to rap, he made me love it. There are many great rappers, but he was the one, he is the goat.

13:06 "This is brilliant." Yes sir. This is brilliant, and Tupac IS absolutely brilliant. Think of the abbreviated time Tupac was here. At 19 he was basically nobody as far as success/recognition goes, and dead by 25. Look at the body of work that he left within that time. And don't forget the movies, the tv appearances, the court appearances, the lawsuits, the multiple times in prison, and all the ladies. How did he find the time? It takes an artistic genius, and an insane work ethic to leave what he left. Brilliance personified.
That NY/East/West wall that MRLBOYD has been living behind is finally starting to come down.

Speaking for myself I had become extremely estranged from my mother for reasons I won't share; but I was so detached from her at one time that I was over her. I was cold towards her to the point that I realized, had she died, at that time, I wouldn't have felt anything. I was powerfully devoid of anything positive towards her. Thank God that changed. What I learned to focus on was the life she endured. I learned of the many hardships she endured growing up. When she did die I was going through pictures of her as a little girl. There was this one. She was around 4 and so tiny and I thought about the abuse she suffered. She was just a little girl and something strange occured to me emotionally. I suddenly felt a profound desire that I wish could have been there to protect her. I was seeing my mother as a father sees his daughter and even now most times I think of her, tiny and vulnerable, and I just want to pick her up and hold her high to let her know she's valuable and safe.

I feel like a lot of Pac’s music, he’s really talking to himself. feel like he keeps reiterating that she’s a “little girl” to help himself understand his upbringing. grasping why she wasn’t able to be the parent may have needed her to be, more involved, more protecting, more stable, more nurturing. and being at the point he was at when he wrote the song, he realized that it wasn’t her fault. he realized that it wasn’t her simply choosing to not do those things, she just wasn’t able. he looked at himself and saw his ways, understanding firsthand the way an upbringing can effect you. he realized that her ways had the same conclusion as his; Her upbringing. and once he realized that, how could he continue to fault her? how could he not begin to see her glass half-full, and realize that, even broken, she still gave what she had left to raise him as best she could. which may have taken him from angry with and resentful toward her, to a more empathetic place, starting to see her as a hero for doing what she could even with all that stood in her way. she’s still a little girl because he’s still hurt. but he understands.

I like your take on him recognizing her as her young true self. Never thought of it that way. Tupac always gives me mad chills with every word spoken. Especially the lines about the rose that grew from the concrete. The passion and power in his voice is unmatched. Here's his original poem called 'The Rose That Grew From Concrete':
Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.
    - Tupac Shakur

I always thought he was referring to her as a little girl cause society broke her at such a young age that she was developmentally delayed in that regard. She never had a chance to experience that real innocence in her childhood. You carry that kind of trauma with you forever and you’re forever trying to protect yourself because of it. Listen to, “God Bless The Dead” and “Still I Rise” next. Loving your 2Pac journey. 🙋🏻‍♀️👍🏼👌🏼🙌🏼💜🇨🇦

      Somewhat, but not quite…
Females are just that! (Feminine - gentle - the softer half of men and shouldn’t be held in the same masculine regard)
No matter how grown, they are our lil girls because they need and should be protected!🧘🏾‍♂️
Even if she is grown, Mama’s just a lil girl!
So he doesn’t want anyone to put THE onus on her/females for how MEN turn out…in this specific case (his upbringing due to their situation)
They ain’t the cause of all this drama…
How could she raise a thug like me in this world?
It is not meant to be literal….it’s conceptual!

What makes 2pac such an inviting artist is something I see you struggling with; he was a master crafter of stories and lyrics. He may begin a song, especially in his Death Row phase, talking solely about his mother, but by the second or third verse he is intertwining other narratives from other stories he knows into his composition. More, he was a true representation of the young Black man at the time; no disrespect to B.I.G, but 2pac more exhibited the rage and confused politics and traumatized soul many black men carried within themselves then and till this very day. If you want to know his greatness, read through his book of poems "The Rose that Grew from Concrete" and listen to the entire album which was a collaborative effort by dozens of artists who at the turn of the century brought to life his poetic masterpieces.

Mamas Just A Little Girl means exactly what it means. Pac talks about a little girl who had her first baby at the age of 15. Yes she is young. Then the girls turns 16 and has twins. She is still young a little girl. Then Pac goes on to say how can mamma raise three men? Just think when mamma is 37 her kids would be 21. She still young at that age. This is relevant to this day 2024.

The Rose That Grew From Concrete.
    -Tupac Amaru Shakur

What u need to understand is that 2pac put on a lot of artists from the bay area, as thats where he lived in California, so alot of his features on "All Eyez On Me" were basically local artists, it wasn't all about jumping on the hottest artist at the time for sales 🎼🎼

I absolutely LOVE the fact that you’ve grown to appreciate Pac! Pac is just different and he was a living legend. I was 15 or 16 years old when he came on the scene and my friends and I absolutely had and still have so much respect for this man. He is the G.O.A.T. Don’t get me wrong, we had and have much love for Biggie, as well. Never cared about all the East Coast/ West Coast rivalry…. We all live on the East Coast, but we just respect both, equally. Then, of course, there is Em. The man is a lyrical genius, obviously. So many other purely talented artists, but these 3 will always be THE top 3! ❤❤❤

in the African culture women in general are referred to as children in a respectful manner though. I told you once you disregard the East and West thing Pac is indeed the GOAT.

Pac's music is a mixture of poetry and biography. The song is not necessarily directly about his mother (she never had twins) but a composite of ghetto mothers everywhere.

You know that there’s a poetry book of his called “ A Rise from the Concrete” by 2 PAC? There’s a documentary about his life and he was constantly writing poems one of which is called “ A Rose from Concrete “. After he passed they took the poems and put together in a poetry book and named it “A Rose from Concrete. “ The poetry writing is what lead to him writing raps…. and now here are. Just one last point he also is an activist by nature. That was a part of his character.

This songs about the admiration he had for his moms strength and resilience despite the hardships she faced growing up poor and addicted to drugs, yet persevering. He still sees the innocence in her, despite the corruption. With youth comes inexperience and that can lead you down the wrong path if there’s no one to show u better. That doesn’t mean ur innocence is lost, only ur direction

Whether the songs were super aggressive or super heartfelt they were real. What most people that knew, loved, and hung out with him said was. Was he either loved you or hated you. No gray area. If he loved you he’d go all in for you. If he hated you he’d go all in against you. To me it was real. Even tho it seemed so much like two different PAC’s. He was one real one.
