man i really miss how much of an adventure it felt to go to gamestop with my dad as a kid. nowadays i know its probably 5-10 minutes away because i know exactly where it is, but as a kid, the world felt so massive and those nights that we would drive to gamestop and get a new game were the most exciting parts of life for me. i cant remember a time where i didnt read the manual and back of a case over and over on the way home, wishing i could just be playing it already. Very good video tho i definitely wanna see more from you
It was all an experience. I still remember reading the back of metroid prime on the car ride home and the feeling of popping that tiny disc into the top of my jet black gamecube. Still the best boot screen theme ever made!
@@Tenacityfromtheglass mann what an era that was. i still go to the same gamestop maybe once or twice a year and buy a game for my ps3 just to experience what it was like as a kid. thank you for bringing back the memories man i love your videos, dont stop grinding. much love ❤️
When you get home from School, you just kinda hang until you gotta go again. When you get home from work, you could be doing something to make your life better. I’m hoping if/when I’m a bit more settled, not some mid twenties broke ass, I’ll be able to enjoy them again. Instead of feeling like I should be making one the whole time I’m playing. I also tend to be really hard on myself. I’ll burn myself out and do nothing at all, no fun and no progress. Maybe it’s less about the external factors and more about my own mental, or maybe both. Relaxing is an important part of keeping yourself healthy and happy, yet I feel guilty doing that. As a kid that wasn’t an issue.
I swear this feels like me. Back when we had no where to be and all day to get there. These days we work 40 hours a week just to keep from being hungry and cold, and the rest of our time spent trying to actually get somewhere in life.
90s-00s gaming had such a vast range of creativity. I love the amount of risk they took on odd concepts around This Y2K era- the Dreamcast/PS2/360. It should show us that GRAPHICS are not the most important thing.. If you can create satisfying movement, gameplay mechanics, physics effects, responsive parts of a environment that makes you want to explore it, engage it, etc. That stuff is so much more important. Not: {"Who can make the largest game map? Or have the most reflections?"} I think Art style, design, vibe, aesthetic is much more important. You don't need top notch graphics to greatly appreciate and enjoy playing a game. That's why we are seeing such a resurgence of players who have gone back to playing older games because they realized the aspects of gaming that they care about and are unhappy with most modern games. So hopefully gaming will enter a new era. That mixes in aspects of the older era's. With our modern capabilities that will hopefully help make it easier to create a satisfying game (without it taking 8 years to build a broken game. Hopefully) Currently everything is trying to be like a Triple AAA game or a free to play online battle Royale game.. A lot of us miss when we had game selection similar to how the Dreamcast/GameCube/360/PS2 era had a mix of. As well alot of those games came with options for local multiplayer, split screen, LAN parties, or offline modes against bots or other diverse offline CPU game modes. Yet modern games are not only lacking those dynamic options that give games nearly endless replayability features... Modern games are lacking even meeting the most basic standards for game's... They don't seemed focused on the core of the games to be Fun. They over focus on "realism" Rather than adding in Artistic adaptations for the greater good of gaming as a whole.. We could be doing so much better yet people are just coming out with the most bland game design, braindead AI, less care for physics effects... We could be doing so much better than this..
I feel that way about modern need for speed games. the whole break to drift feels wonky, the story feels written for MCU and making everything look wet and reflective doesn't pass for good art Direction. Give me games like underground 2 that had tons of variety and forced me to explore because there wasn't fast travel.
One issue I’ve been having is that a lot of more modern games feel more like full time jobs. They are becoming longer and longer. They have so many systems that if you take a break you might as well start over because you’ll forget everything. The plots are becoming more complicated and if you don’t have a phd in the series lore you’ll probably be confused what is even going on. It’s all just too much for me.
So true. I miss when games were designed for a specific experience, like stealth, for example. Sure, the arkham games had different gameplay systems, but they felt like a core mechanic instead of, "Hey, we have this, too!"
Honestly its because it isn't the same anymore there's a reason i still get fun out of Nintendo games. There the only ones still being creative and fun these days. Playstation and xbox are just loaded full of genres im burnt out and realistic games.
That Empty Feeling is something i only get once or twice a year now. Hifi Rush gave it to me. I was always a slow completer(except in RPGs go figure) There just arent that many GOOD GAMES anymore. I find myself going back to old games i liked or i missed in my child hood. I dont care enough to try modern games indie or not anymore i just keep getting burned. Its gotten to the point that I can spot a game with enough redflags from a trailer alone. ALso screw Multiplayer only games. The Competitive BS ruined all the fun of just sitting down winning and losing games on an even battlefield. Fighting games went from one of my favs to one of my most hated genres the moment Online became a thing for them.
Having time as kids was HUGE. If a game honors your time nowadays-not you, Valhalla and your minions -maybe Helldivers 2 is better at doing that, then it's more likely to get my playtime 👍🏽
sometimes I have to go to the bathroom at work but I don't like using public restrooms, so if you think about it by the time I get home and I can go I have a "shatlog". I never feel guilty about it though, and I make sure to have fun.
I totally understand where people are coming from when they say games nowadays are bad. But I’ve always and always will play games that are polished, work , respect my time, and most importantly are fun as a single player gamer. Not to say I won’t enjoy multiplayer, but look at Warhammer 2 and sparking zero as prime examples
30 FPS or 60? Laughs in Race Driving on the Sega Genesis with it's 5 FPS! Heck that's good compared to Steel Talons, that sometimes goes into _seconds per frame_ territory!
I starting to fell like I dont have that problem cause I'm poor and most AAA dont unterest me XD like the last game I was legit hyped for and saved up was #blud which I highly enjoyed. Basicly cause of lower income I have to be a bit more carefull what games I buy. Not just whats trending but really what interests me. I have like... What? 3 games I have not fully played yet? And even then, when I really dont feel a game I try, I usually exchange it for another on the monthly fleamarket
Eh I enjoy games, the way I play is very different from most people, I treat the games I play as a playground to do whatever I want, I experimented a lot and make the absolute most out of every game I play, it's just a more fun way to play, for clarification I'll play a 30-40 hour game for 250 hours like I've just done with Sekiro
I'm so bad at souls. That last boss in sekiro took me several hours. There was no one coming to help. no summoning other players. For the first time, I had to get good. Sekiro is a true masterpiece

@@Tenacityfromtheglass also if you dont mind me asking, what editing software do you use?
@kerch8367 I've been using a free software called capcut. I'm pretty new to video editing and I feel like this one was extremely easy to learn.

Another thing we should do is take the time to take it in, chill and have fun - your video was spot on
games have become worse, play old classics
I fully agree with you on that one.
yeah
Dragon quest soundtrack at the end is just ❤
The journey is just as important as the end

Honestly, the new Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom gave me the feeling I haven't had for many many years. It hits the sweet spot of being fun.
Ultimate Spider-Man was 🔥

One thing you can do is use trainers and mod. Since you play on PC you can make some changes.

I am enjoying games again since i bought a steamdeck. I just dont enjoy sitting at the desk to play games anymore. On the couch, count me in
Same here. Plus, the steam deck just feels so good to hold.
