I'm a huge Xenoblade fan, but I completely understand not liking or wanting to finish any of the games. They have a TON of content to get through, and the combat seems to be really hit or miss with people. And if you don't know what you're doing, it's insanely easy to hit a wall in every single boss fight in the first game, which obviously isn't fun.
Idk the first games combat is really not hard to understand plus there’s easy mode and lots of guides in game. It shouldn’t take more than 40 hrs max if you go straight through
@@connorutt9 My friends and I let’s played the game early this year in 2023 and I thought Xenoblade 1 was… fine. I didn’t care much about the story and characters and at least the concept and world was… interesting enough. But honestly… its mostly just a traditional JRPG and in a sea of them… there are better ones to play. If anything, Xenoblade’s a bit overrated because its the Switch’s only RPG that’s actually recognizable
Huge RDR2 and Horizon Fan. Not every game is for everyone. Tastes change. Time changes. Some games are mainly focused while others are massive playgrounds. Each has their positives. As much as I would love for Jack to love the franchises I love, it just isn't always gonna happen
RDR2 has poor combat and even worse combat than its predecessor. The controls are terrible even on PC. Enemies can be bullet sponges and vital shots are inconsistent. Gun sway and bullet spread don’t get removed when using freeaim which makes free aiming 10x worse. Arthur is a tank and can survive 70 bullets. NPCs have aimbot and can shoot me from a mile away. Running is clunky in closed spaces as Arthur will get stuck on walls when trying to do a full circle.
The first few hours of Horizon Forbidden West are indeed quite boring. I played it at first and didn't like it at all. Then a few months later I gave it another shot and honestly once the game opens up after the prologue, it's one of the best and most interesting open world experiences I've had in a while. Ended up getting the platinum for it!
I cant stand it when openworld games put you into a linear start before you get to the actual game. The same thing happened with RDR2 and it made any urge to start another playthrough die off. People hated this so much they’d put save points in their current playthroughs to load into when they wanna start a new game Its a terrible decision and its been terrible since GTA V. Exposition can be done without dragging on and being restrictive, just like a movie can speak for itself through implications and subtleties
I think the monster hunter aspect is good but all the open world stuff is getting a bit tedious. The maps are way too big and going around on horseback is boring. It’s beautiful but it’s just far cry x monster hunter
That’s how I felt exactly with Zero Dawn. I got maybe 3 hours in and thought it was boring and held off on it for about 3 months. I eventually got back into it and 100 percented it!!

@@Chadius_Thundercock I actually enjoy taking my time through the first half of the game since completing the whole story so I can take in as much healthy time with Arthur as I can lol
fr I got the game in 2019 and only played through maybe the first chapter. I wasn’t good at the actual gameplay (aiming on controller hard) and the story was really slow in the beginning. Took me nearly THREE WHOLE YEARS before i ever went back. By then of course I was spoiled about the ending, but it still hit me super hard. Lots of ugly crying. It’s been one of my favorite games since. I went back almost immediately to replay it, since the first time around I missed a lot of side quests and challenges, but now I’m in the post-Guarma section of the game and find myself not wanting to play any further for spoiler-free reasons… This is definitely a game you have to take your time with. I’ve tried watching Mark’s playthrough but all the little day to day things that you do in the game seem so tedious and boring if you’re not the one playing and feeling really connected to Arthur’s story. It would be cool to make like a highlights video of a lot of interesting or important events though
I feel this. The older I have gotten, the more I start to drift away from REALLY long games. There's just...other things to do, or need to be done. But there are exceptions to this....Elden Ring. But even Elden Ring fell into a weird place for me. When I got closer to the end, I just rushed the final bosses because the game started to feel like a chore. Not the games fault, but mine. So I usually love games that favor replay value or one time experiences. But I will always give long games a try, hoping they will stick
Same here. I was rushing by the end as well, and its the only Fromsoft game I haven't replayed (aside from Sekiro). I just hate how much of my time is wasted running from point a to point b. I sincerely hope their next game is back to being more linear.

I can relate to rdr2. I bought it and had two occasions where I played and never finished it. Third try, I really gave it go and I think it’s one of the best games ever played. It is different for everyone though
It makes me so sad that jack didnt finish red dead 2 as its my favorite game of all time, but I do understand on how making a series for that kinda game is really damn hard.
it's the anti-let'splayer game. Whilst games like fnaf or happy wheels have very obvious ways to provide content for let'splayers and their audience, red dead 2 is completely based on the exploration aspect and finding things in the world that YOU enjoy, which are usually the small, amazing yet "boring" details of the game. Someone like Jack can't know if they'll find anything that'd be noteworthy to their audience in their next (usually pretty long to actually count as one, mind you) session of playing the game unless they're just rushing to play the missions and nothing else, which is a pretty bad way to play the game. I'm still impressed Markiplier managed to make a series on it. I am kinda bummed tho cuz there's literally an Irish character named exactly like Jack in the game and on my first playthrough I thought "what would Jack think?"
The idea that he even TRIED Xenoblade is mindblowing to me. I mean, he still gave up but he at least played a little and that's a lot farther than most RUclipsrs get.

That's such a shame that Sean didn't want to finish HFW because it genuinely is an incredible game,,the first few hours are a bit slow but afterwards the game is so much fun and the story is great
Whilst I understand it from a lot of people's perspective, the reason game devs opt to make the prologue drag out a little is they tend to consider the new player experience for people who may be using that game as their starting point and just help guide them along for a bit before letting the world open up, Horizon is actually a really really good game and its visuals are top tier with a very interesting story, lore and over all world building, same goes to RDR2.

I understand him, even though I like some long ass games, the replayability is a problem. They're just too long for a replay, especially if there's nothing new or different to do on another playthrough. I think those types of games are meant to be played through just once anyway.
I like watching other people play Xenoblade. I don't think I'll ever actually get to playing it myself though. Chuggaaconroy is the only Xenoblade player I'll watch since he makes every game he ever plays fun to watch and experience.
Okay, that's a fair complaint. Some games get complained about, for being too short, only makes sense that there would be some that would get complaints for being to long or too spacious.
He'll probably have this problem with Tears of the Fallen Kingdom. Not because he doesn't like it, it's just that the game is massive. He'd have like no time at all to explore, only enough time to do one or 2 story missions and that's it.
I absolutely love red ded 2's story I watched an entire timeliness and I love how much it shows the corruption of good men and how bad men can still find redemption for even the worst actions. BUT the game is open world, yet- it punishes you for doing whatever you want by hiding the amazing story, with some missions forcing your honor down which hides side missions that need high honor.. I get the point, and its a great one, but as you said, there's wayyyy too much game
Most people who don't like the horizon games just didn't want to commit to it, it is a long game, i spent 66+ hours in zero dawn and i love it so much, i love it's world to bits it's something i will never forget, forbidden west i already bought but yet to play, but i'm 100% sure i'll love it. Aloy is one of those rare lovable female main characters in games.
I feel that. It’s hard to go through a game that is over 25 hours. Last year I played through Tales of Arise and it felt so long but the game was great. However, it was draining to play through it all and I kept wanting to play a different game.
After the first couple of hours, HFW became one of my favourite open world games ever. Once you get to the actual forbidden west the game is so much better.
I hate hearing "once you get to this point it gets good" everytime another massive game full of content comes out. I'm not patient enough to spend a few hours or more being bored when I have other games that are awesome in the first 5 minutes.
@@ArkSucksAtGames if a game is still boring after the first hour, why would you willingly keep playing? You don't keep eating food that tastes bad in hopes of it getting better
True, Xenoblade games are long, but I love them so much that I don't even feel the length and I always forget how long they are. I've got 319 hours on 1, 515 hours on 2 and 345 hours on 3 (I don't own a Wii-U so I haven't played X). Pretty much 100% completion on all of them and I don't regret a single minute.
I find some types of games hard to get into these days because of school responsibilities. I prefer "quick fun" linear games that are concise in structure (arcadey stuff or level based games) than heavy content or time investment games like open worlds or complicated genres like rpgs and strategy. Theyre not bad, I've tried Stalker once and while i got interested, midway when i reached that one large town i stopped because of the anxieties i get from ditching school work.
Xenoblade is understandable. All 3 of them are huge and take a lot of time. Despite loving all 3 of them they are incredibly overwhelming due to the amount of content provided.
I like to treat long games as if I'm watching a show. I play the game in episode-like increments, like if I finished a quest or two in The Outer Worlds and then decide to pick it up at a later time and repeat until I finish the game. That's how I was able to go through all 3 Shenmue games and The Outer Worlds. Some people are very good at just knocking out tens of hours of gameplay without breaking a sweat and then there's people like me that prefer to break it down to an hour or two at a time, unless it's a game that I REALLY love, then I'm willing to put more time into it each session.
The older I get, the more I relate to the mentality. Every time I see game companies post: “bigger map, longer story, longer playtime” I’m just even less compelled to play their games. Especially when 5 hours in I’ve played every piece of the game it feels like.
tbf all the three games he mentioned have huge open world environments which, if you wanna play a variety of games in a shorter amount of time, is less likely to be appealing for you. not because they're bad but because of the time sink to complete the game. funny enough people don't tend to view match-based games (valorant, fornite, etc) as too much of a time sink even tho if you take the cumulative amount of hours played in all the matches it would be fairly long too
Biggest problem with red dead that it really filters out people who either don't have the patience or the time for it. Which is most people. Otherwise amazing story, genre defining open world, below avarage combat
Forbidden West is just more Horizon but improved on everything other than maybe story. So if you didn't vibe with the first one. Chance you won't vibe with second one. That being said, god the games so much fun, especially when you get a certain traversal option. Makes it just so easy to have more fun
I’m gonna be honest, I also am not big on Horizon: forbidden west. I think the main problem I had to be honest was that it kinda just changed too many things and didn’t feel quite as much like the first game as I was hoping it would.
Fully agree on Red Dead, I got so fed up with how tedious a lot of it was. Eventually tried hunting and bringing stuff back to the camp, stopping along the way to do random things, only to realise animals would rot if you didn’t bring them back quickly enough. At that point I put the controller down and haven’t played it since
This is literally me, not even joking 100%. I also got fed up at how easily people would just start fucking shooting you. I remember the biggest city (forgot the name) was SUCH a pain in the ass BECAUSE YOU COULD NOT GO ONE STEP WITHOUT BEING ATTACKED FOR NO REASON??? Trust me a lot of people have struggled with this.
If you don’t want a long experience the xenoblade trilogy is basically designed exactly to piss you off and make you feel useless. God damn I love those games
I get people have different preferences and all. I’ll admit, RDR2 did feel overwhelming and like a chore to complete and I did rush through the story at times. But that doesn’t change the fact that it was truly one of the greatest and most gut-wrenching gaming experiences for me. If anything, I grew more appreciation for the sheer detail and depth of the game over time. But I will admit, sometimes I do prefer the more rigid horse movements of the first game
I understand the Red Dead 2 problem. It took me two years to finish it and I bought it on launch. It just feels padded with some of the missions, the hot air balloon mission literally changed nothing, it was like DBZ filler.
Yeah I was on the fence with RD2 because having godly levels of detail doesn’t matter if you get bored of the long timespan or if the game isn’t the style of game you enjoy like me Now Persona 5: Royal on the other hand… Yeah I don’t regret the 120 hours. Loved it
Honestly kinda sounds like an ADHD thing so me, he couldn't get hyperfocused and/or interested enough in the games so just dropped them to focus on other stuff instead
The horizon series is honestly one of my favorite ever but that being said it makes complete sense to not want to play through it. The way I see it jacks game focus seems to on games that are more episodic like fears to fathom, or deltarune. Games where you can play one part in less than 24 hours and still feel like you completed something. Games like horizon you can be 24 hours in and there’s still so much left in the game that you haven’t even heard of yet. I think these three games definitely are all kinda similar in that aspect.
its a fair point, it took me like over 110 hours to beat the story ALONE without the epilogue for red dead redemption 2, and most people dont have the time to beat a game that goes on and on and on and on for so long.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the game I could not finish. Loved the story, the acting, visuals, and animation were all peak, but for me, the gameplay was the main reason I stopped and shelved it. It was boring, and not fun for me at all. I just couldn't motivate myself to finish it, maybe one day I'll reboot it and get that passion back.
This is also how i feel when i'm playing red dead 2, i appreciate the details, world building and story but the game design bores me there's no rich replayability, too linear, too scripted and too clunky gameplay

Huge RDR2 and Horizon Fan. Not every game is for everyone. Tastes change. Time changes. Some games are mainly focused while others are massive playgrounds. Each has their positives. As much as I would love for Jack to love the franchises I love, it just isn't always gonna happen
I can understand rdr2. Sometimes the game is unresponsive and janky. Nonetheless its still my favorite game

Theyre not bad, I've tried Stalker once and while i got interested, midway when i reached that one large town i stopped because of the anxieties i get from ditching school work.
Nice to see I'm not alone in the sentiment that RDR2 is an absolute chore to play
Xenoblade is understandable. All 3 of them are huge and take a lot of time. Despite loving all 3 of them they are incredibly overwhelming due to the amount of content provided.
I’ll be honest these same exact games weren’t for me either
Also red dead fan:
My swatting plan is in motion.😈
Well that's a shame, but understandable. Not everyone has time for massive game lengths such as these.
tbf all the three games he mentioned have huge open world environments which, if you wanna play a variety of games in a shorter amount of time, is less likely to be appealing for you. not because they're bad but because of the time sink to complete the game.
funny enough people don't tend to view match-based games (valorant, fornite, etc) as too much of a time sink even tho if you take the cumulative amount of hours played in all the matches it would be fairly long too
Biggest problem with red dead that it really filters out people who either don't have the patience or the time for it.
Red Dead 2 a masterpiece. Definitely top 5 open world games of all time
i never would have thought jack would even know what xenoblade is so the fact that he knows is enough for me
I’m gonna be honest, I also am not big on Horizon: forbidden west.
@@Eternally_MoonYou probably ran into someone, judging by how inept you are.
Who struggled with this?@@Eternally_Moon
@@Eternally_Moonkind of a skill issue sadly
If you don’t want a long experience the xenoblade trilogy is basically designed exactly to piss you off and make you feel useless. God damn I love those games
It’s a good, slow game, but most times the endings be like ‘ah, I’ve been stabbed in the gut’
It is the long game that I feel like: I Haven't beat it yet, but I am certainly doing it again someday
My only problem with rdr is spamming the sprint button for most of the game
He’s not saying these games are bad there just not for him
It’s a real shame that he doesn’t like rdr2 because I wanted to see his reaction to the Irish character, also fittingly named Sean 😆
Not finishing RDR2 is understandable. That game takes so fucking long
Yeah I was on the fence with RD2 because having godly levels of detail doesn’t matter if you get bored of the long timespan or if the game isn’t the style of game you enjoy like me
Now Persona 5: Royal on the other hand… Yeah I don’t regret the 120 hours. Loved it
same persona is so nice my 70 hours worth of gameplay was deleted but i still managed to finish the game in around 100 hours after 😂
Question do you have a life?
It's not boring tho,it's immersive as fuck
@@Wesker47584 120 hours is nothinggggg, ive put 1000 into a sandbox car game
@@Wesker47584Everyone has a life, not everyone has shit to do.
Bro doesn't like a game because there is too much game 💀💀💀
He didn’t even say he didn’t like it
Honestly kinda sounds like an ADHD thing so me, he couldn't get hyperfocused and/or interested enough in the games so just dropped them to focus on other stuff instead
RDR2 could have gotten game of the year if they made some simple changes to the controls and combat.
The gameplay in Rockstar games is atrocious, they haven't evolved it in 20 years.
@@c0mplex_Ale And it’s like that because of people who praise their games till the day they die and hate on anyone who points out any flaws in Rockstar’s games.
RED DEAD REDEMPTION BE FOR REAL.
To each his own...some people don't like games that are too damn long and i don't blame them
huh :O im the complete opposite! i like having somthing big i can chip away at even if im super busy around it, its nice having somthing specific to focus on finishing and it being this HUGE world
I respect his opinion. As a Huge Horizon fan I can get if ppl are not into the story especially in Fbw, considering how boring the opening part of the game iz. Still I love this franchise but some games are just not for everyone and that's okay.
While i love those games
Its understandable
Well I personally like those huge games because I don't have enough money to buy loads of game so I prefer to have some that are big enough to entertain me for weeks or even months without having to spend money again for a new experience!
Sean is literally in rdr2 how did he not finish it it’s one of the best games ever and worth the hours played
Horizon was my favorite game for a time because it felt unique and it was similar to spider man, god of war, ghost of Tsushima, and fallen order. Those are my favorite games to play but forbidden West feels like it trying to be those games, also ultra hard in new game plus was a chore so it kill the love i had for it
