I uninstalled maple after hearing that he got fired over something that is all but confirmed to be an acknowledgement of a player's concerns. That's literally their job, they're supposed to bridge the gap between the community and the company. If they're not allowed to do that, how are they ever going to get someone passionate in that position? Just mind boggling. Truly sad to see a game I've loved for years go this route. For the record, I know community managers come and go like ships in the night. I even am a reboot only player so the shit Niru complained about doesn't even affect me. Doesn't change how Nexon seems to feel about their most dedicated players.

Also, that's pure stupidity, saying that Nexon is run by greedy humans, which is in there nature, doesn't absolve them of anything. That'd be like me trying to absolve Mussolini of his crimes by saying what he and the rest of Italy did was human nature. If I had a share in Nexon, I'd go about it at sustainable way. One where the company benefits as well as the customer base, like cosmetics and whatnot which has proven to work. After all, long term profits over short term gains, it's business 101. Nexons current motto is unsustainable and will evidently lead them to a loss of their player base and future potential player bases for future games. Absolutely dumb.
For the character attack videos, Nexon could just ask the community who play those classes as their main or knows how to play them efficiently to record themselves and upload it through a contest or something instead of having one of their interns or something try to use it. Some of those footage looks like me not knowing how to use the class at all but just doing what I can to get that character to 210 for legion purposes.
Honestly, they could have made it a fun event where people with 6th job could submit their videos to be used in website showcase. It'd be s nice way to engage with the community and get something out of it.

I got into this game in like, 2003 or 2004. Friends from middle school goin into HS, drifted but kept in touch in college, through Maple. Issues with auction house and the trading cards inflating the market wildly and seeing Nexon's "apologies" with random "gifts" to quell legit complaints was irritating. I took time away for research, work on IRL relationships. Even the in-game friends, guilds, families and such were staling bc people began feeling unheard. I used to go back from time-to-time, now I just don't. Cuz I'll wanna play Reboot, shoot a character to 250, transfer it to Windia and quit again or something. Hard to believe I used to LOVE this game, but what killed it for me was Instance Dungeoning, portals making XP-grind maps and deterring from the PQ/Party-leveling aspect. If I wanted to play a game like that, I'd look on the App store. :/

It's unfortunate that Nexon is still doing so poorly when it comes to their relationship with their players. I would love to come back to Maplestory but the game is just kind of depressing, the community is a fraction of what it used to be and decisions like this are only going to make things worse.

I tried playing maple again after 10+ years and man the game doesn’t even feel the same. I think the biggest thing lacking for me was the community. Everyone is to themselves and feels like a solo grind.
All I can ever picture the more I hear is just all the higher ups of nexon just wearing blindfolds, and sticking their fingers in their ears going 'I cant hear youuuu' like children.

Ironically, back in the day? PQing WAS the IDEAL leveler. To the point a friend of mine went out of her way to make the first official Cleric Solo Leveling guide, I think up to level 200 when it was the max level. I do agree though, game went downhill NO brakes when PQ's and party-leveling were made a joke. Phantom can just steal Bishop's Holy Symbol, Kanna can do it but better, and everyone has built in healing and level -0 access to full heal pots. Like, where's the challenge? Why play a cash shop simulator?
I totally understand your frustrations, as an american that's been playing localized KMMOs for 15+ years. I currently play Lost Ark, which is published/developed by Smilegate and many players in their community feel very similarly to how you do. Amazon Games publishes the game for us in the west and we have the same communication, or lack of, issues that you are expressing. It really feels like only Pearl Abyss has learned how to publish in the west vs how they publish locally. They dropped Kakao and the game has seen a vast improvement in communication from CMs/devs (kr). I have hope that there will be improvement in this area. There ARE passionate devs in Korea and CMs in the west. The companies just need to give them the power and voice to help improve the game in the west. I hope the best for you all in MS

No matter where you are hired, no matter who the CEO is and where they are from, Nexon is a South Korean company afterall, and this is a "very normal" Korean thing to do. They also kept the HQ in Japan, where the work culture is also very fire-happy. Realised that Nexon has offices dotted here and there but not Europe? I saw Niru's video and that actually made me curious and wanted to try and return to maple to see what's up. (I quit back when I was in BROA server) I was actually having fun leveling to 200 in 1 day! WAS SO UNHEARD OF back in my day. I was willing to spend money again since I used to be hardcore and spent a lot... I'm ashamed to say. But I have a very good paying job now so I was willing to do it again.. BUT! I remember being a Sophomore in HS, when the first MS commercials aired on TV. "Why...are you guys hitting each other...with a fish..? (referencing the ingame Frozen Tuna) "Because it's fun....and FREE". Shit like that has us laughing ourselves to pieces. Then the Resistance Heroes and Tryout commercials release. "Rah! I NEVER wanted to be a Battle Mage!! I TOLD MY MOM I WANTED TO BE A FIGHTER!!! AND!!! ANNNDDD!!!" Haha. It's mind-boggling how the company that went from THIS, from making new adventures in Ludibrium, new perils in Zipangu/Showa Town, new experiences with families and weddings online, responsible for ALL OF THAT? ....Reduce itself to this. It's heartbreaking, tbh. Played this game from middle school up until I graduated college. And looking at it now I don't even see a shell of its former self, ESPECIALLY with how the Global version of MS2 was handled. ESPECIALLY with seeing how Nexon sees their playerbase and employees. We had memes on BasilMarket about "spilling the coffee" and "bricking Nexon HQ" joking about server maint times. To the point they were even whimsically aware. Now it's just, "fuck it, fuck em. From my point of view, player who already quit the game, Veerah did his job poorly in last year. Maplestory barely communicate with players and when they did it always last minute decision. I don't want to play game that give me anxiety every 3 months that I should quit the game or not.

maplestory aint been the same since cody left henesys, i really want them to bring back fun PQs that REQUIRE a full party, scale players to the boss so teamwork is actually needed, im honestly tired of this game being only about numbers, sure being strong is nice but i miss communicating with players and doing fun PQs, im a 233 demon avenger/260 demon slayer and doing the old PQs is nice except i just absolutely mow through the enemies, bossing is fun but yet again fun PQs and more socializing would be nice. ALSO BRINGING BACK REAL SEASONAL EVENTS WOULD BE NICE such as, Maplemas, the haunted mansion/witch, cake vs pie, etc. If they aren't going to bring them back in their original state change it up a bit. They need to bring back to long boat rides with balrogs or any strong mob attacking the ship shows up or something, it'd be nice, another nostalgic event to visit old maps would also be amazing. I really just care more about the fun and socializing than the whole 9-5 thing that maplestory has become. Niru's explanation was also 100% right as well.

Nexon doesnt care about players because it doesnt have to! They have no competition to the Maple Story and players have nowhere to move from the MS. If only we had a competitor for this game it would be easier to force Nexon to make changes. Very similar thing is with the League of Legends where Riot cares less and less about the LoL players because they dont have to. Players wont massively move to the DOTA, they can stay in the LoL and complain but it isnt problem for Riot or Nexon because if only players pay, they can complain.
i feel like maplestory needs some kind of method to show us inn a reel what we can expect for the coming months and i feel like the past event maps and events are just copy pasted especially how the shops with the event currency feels. Every time it happends im like ah shi.. here we go again.... This is why I nowdays prioritize playing other mmo's like ffxiv which has way more to do it feels like and makes stuff like crafting and gathering even more fun then maple does, heck i think new players in maple don;'t even try crafting and gathering of how basic the formula is and how its like pretty useless unless u really need that android or the meister buff. I would just redo the crafting and gathering system in maple as a whole.

Suggestion: Make Party Quests just as good as grinding solo. So then people can choose what they wanna do.

I saw Niru's video and that actually made me curious and wanted to try and return to maple to see what's up. (I quit back when I was in BROA server) I was actually having fun leveling to 200 in 1 day! WAS SO UNHEARD OF back in my day. I was willing to spend money again since I used to be hardcore and spent a lot... I'm ashamed to say. But I have a very good paying job now so I was willing to do it again.. BUT!
Nexon's response with firing and going radio silent actually made me want to quit again... It's so unprofessional of them. See ya, Nexon... Listen to the community, they're what funds yo ass.

From my point of view, player who already quit the game, Veerah did his job poorly in last year. Maplestory barely communicate with players and when they did it always last minute decision. I don't want to play game that give me anxiety every 3 months that I should quit the game or not.

maplestory aint been the same since cody left henesys, i really want them to bring back fun PQs that REQUIRE a full party, scale players to the boss so teamwork is actually needed, im honestly tired of this game being only about numbers, sure being strong is nice but i miss communicating with players and doing fun PQs, im a 233 demon avenger/260 demon slayer and doing the old PQs is nice except i just absolutely mow through the enemies, bossing is fun but yet again fun PQs and more socializing would be nice.
ALSO BRINGING BACK REAL SEASONAL EVENTS WOULD BE NICE such as, Maplemas, the haunted mansion/witch, cake vs pie, etc.
If they aren't going to bring them back in their original state change it up a bit.
They need to bring back to long boat rides with balrogs or any strong mob attacking the ship shows up or something, it'd be nice, another nostalgic event to visit old maps would also be amazing.
I really just care more about the fun and socializing than the whole 9-5 thing that maplestory has become.

I've been waiting for nexon/gms to address Niru's complaint. I've stopped playing MS for some of the reasons exposed by Niru.
I feel like most of us have just given up on Nexon and either moved on to other games or just stop spending altogether. Me personally, MSM is like the only Nexon game I’m still playing and I wouldn’t touch any other games associated with Nexon.

I'm kinda getting burnt out with Maple, and this just makes it worse. I don't feel like playing a game that doesn't take their player's concerns and interests seriously. feels like they're just hiding behind a veil of 'not giving a ****'. they are making bank with this game and I think that's why they don't care as much if some players are dissatisfied, because there BigBlueWhales that will spend on cute NX outfits rather than playing the game itself. nah all 3 explorer warrios are hella defensive with hero maybe being the most due to having a 20 second cd 3 second i frame. the other 2's defense are easier than heros but hero is basically mihile with his i frame.

Nexon doesnt care about players because it doesnt have to! They have no competition to the Maple Story and players have nowhere to move from the MS. If only we had a competitor for this game it would be easier to force Nexon to make changes. Very similar thing is with the League of Legends where Riot cares less and less about the LoL players because they dont have to. Players wont massively move to the DOTA, they can stay in the LoL and complain but it isnt problem for Riot or Nexon because if only players pay, they can complain.

i feel like maplestory needs some kind of method to show us inn a reel what we can expect for the coming months and i feel like the past event maps and events are just copy pasted especially how the shops with the event currency feels. Every time it happends im like ah shi.. here we go again.... This is why I nowdays prioritize playing other mmo's like ffxiv which has way more to do it feels like and makes stuff like crafting and gathering even more fun then maple does, heck i think new players in maple don;'t even try crafting and gathering of how basic the formula is and how its like pretty useless unless u really need that android or the meister buff. I would just redo the crafting and gathering system in maple as a whole.
