BRILLIANT!! obviously when there’s a compilation made of the climaxes of lots of her performances, it doesn’t translate in the same way as seeing the performance as a whole with the build up and softer moments leading up to it and will sound irritating for that reason to some, I still loved it regardless.

I could feel so much joy and passion in Christina whenever she is given the chance to sing. I get why people interpret her showmanship as showing off, but I've always seen it as just her putting all she has to offer in the moment! Her riffs and melisma are actually really difficult to do. I have yet to see other singers try how she plays up songs. That’s why she’s always tapped to do tributes coz she’s able to reinterpret a song. She’s able to put her stamp on songs with her renditions. Her voice now is even richer and stronger and all her riffs are more effortless.
I agree.. vocally Christina got better in time...the liberation album, and her spanish album performances recently...wow......you would think her voice would be gone..she actually displaying healthy vocals..and I believe it is because she doesn't tour as much...only in limited windows...to maintain her voice register.

I agree, to a point. I admit I don't listen to diva vocalists when I'm in the mood to listen to music per se, it's more like watching a talent contest or a sport. It's more to be impressed than enjoy musically (A lot of the diva songs aren't even that great). Virtuosic singing stands out from the music, instead of blending in well enough to be a seamless part of it. I used to absolutely hate trendy excessive melisma or "vocal gymnastics" as they were called in the 90s/early 00s, but I started to get used to it and appreciate it for what it is. It's just sort of thrilling to see people good at what they do, and I'm not the type to watch a sport, so I watch videos of people nailing complex runs instead. I feel as if it stimulates a completely different part of my brain than good music. When I listen to good music, I focus on the music. When I listen to good singers, I want to sing. I want to imitate it. It's almost more sport than art to me. I see dance in the same way.
Even Patti, Chaka, Jennifer Hudson, learned when to reel it in. She still has that lesson to learn & she seems to refuse to. She doesn't have to prove anything. We know what she can do. Now it's time to wow us with actual TECHNICH & CONTORL of her emotions & her instrument. I'll wait..... .

One of the MOST EXHAUSTING singers I’ve ever listened to. To be gifted with such a stunning voice and to use it in such a ridiculous way is so annoying. She knows how to use her voice. She do too much. I _cain't_ complain though because I just be over here rollin'. When she do all that screamin' and carryin' on, it's sorta hard to make out what she's screaming (singing) about. Like I _cain't_ understand the lyrics due to all of the excessive riffs, runs and grunts. Sometimes she sound like somebody revvin' up they lawnmower. Anyway, some of these clips aren't that bad.
She has an incredible vocal instrument, but I wish she would temper her singing. I find her very tedious to listen to a lot of the time because of the lack of restraint.

I think she's ok, I always thought she was like an abstract painting. Some people get it n some don't, but she's definitely great and very agile.

It’s not her song, but she’s in it and she does such an amazing job of not over her voice, but just blending it perfectly, she’s extremely talented and that’s a lot of people didn’t like it. She had the looks and she had the voice and it wasn’t the typical white crew voice. She had sort of the you know gospel tone that a lot of African-American women can really belt out and she had that. I don’t know how she sounds today but back in her day. She was phenomenal.

There’s just no melody or feeling when you do that much riffing. It’s just showing off. Listen to old Motown artists, they just stuck to straight melody and their songs had so much soul and feeling. This just sounds like a parody

She do too much. I _cain't_ complain though because I just be over here rollin'. When she do all that screamin' and carryin' on, it's sorta hard to make out what she's screaming (singing) about. Like I _cain't_ understand the lyrics due to all of the excessive riffs, runs and grunts. Sometimes she sound like somebody revvin' up they lawnmower. Anyway, some of these clips aren't that bad.

She has an incredible vocal instrument, but I wish she would temper her singing. I find her very tedious to listen to a lot of the time because of the lack of restraint.
