    Having owned a an 850 Assault for 3 years now, I can give you a tip if you don't want ski lift. I learned this on my 2016 PRO-S when the rear shock blew so I could still ride until I could get the shock rebuilt.
    Slide forward on the seat to where you're almost riding the gas tank. Moves the center of gravity forward and holds 'em down. Not necessarily comfortable for an all day ride, but when you need to get racey....

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  2 года назад

      Hey! So that is how i ride 100% on the time. as far forward and over the bars. The sled will still lift skis. would take alot of suspension work to get it to act somewhat how i want it but still wont work as well as a coupled skid in the trails

    Top speed you would think the xcr would win .assault longer track turns not as good . out of the hole should be faster due to more traction but more hp would be needed to rotate that big track faster . Also keep your track loose that helps a couple mph faster less less hp needed to rotate track . Not to loose of corse lol. Neither of those sleds sound stock . Piped clutched computer tuned I’m sure .

    I have solved the ski lift issue for the most part on my 22 assault. I upgraded the rear torsion springs to the Polaris heavy duty, added 1 inch of preload to the front shocks from factory spec. Also backed off preload on the rear shock half an inch from factory spec. I set the rear compression damping at four clicks out on both rear shocks. Also set the front shocks to two clicks out. It is not completely solved but it is 100 times better. Biggest change to getting the ski lift solved was changing my riding style to be up over the bars. In order to get the assault to be really aggressive in the trails you have to muscle it. Thanks for the video and that is a beautiful maroon sled. I love the gold graphics

      @JESSEJAMES322  2 года назад

      im sure i can set it up to my liking there is not a question in my mind. I just wanted to give a "what did i feel off the bat review" and im sure you can set it up and change riding style but at the end of the day it will not be as good as an XCR with a coupled skid. Very impressed with the sled overall though!

    My VR1 came with the front shocks all the way out, I’ve had heavy ski pressure from the get go. I tightened the center track shock now it wants to wheelie. I went down 1 1/4 inches on the front shocks, but still have heavy steering although it does corner better. If I go down more on the front shocks will the steering effort be reduced?

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  2 года назад

      increasing preload on the ski springs increases ski pressure. Increasing preload on the center shock or front track shock spring will decrease ski pressure.

    Lets take ski lift out of the equation assuming it can be adjusted and controlled. How did you feel about riding the longer machine in its ability to turn in the trails?
    I'm a 129 850 AXYS with many setup updates to make it handle for increased balance and cornering speeds. Considering a new 137XC or 146 1.35 SB XC have 0 interest in off trail riding but that long sled rides so smooth and great top speed. Have ridden 850 SB AXYS just feels so long like a bus in smaller trails (ride all the same locations you show on the Hill) but on big trails most fun sled ever rode. Wondering how a Matrix 137 vs 146 Matrix feels against each other from a handling standpoint.

      Im leaning hard to the SB and putting some blocks in it to stay down / adjust. Put some adjustments in it more like a XC for trail use. I've been using the adjustable limiters / center shock / low front end ( Accelerated Technology mindset/ parts) I'm thinking could use lessons learned to tame the SB for groomed trail and have best of ride comfort, handling, traction, and top speed / stable ...

    • @JESSEJAMES322
