Yo Lucas, keep up the stoke man! I was also at Abasin's opening day, skied 4 runs and made the drive back to FOCO but sooo worth it! If you continue to struggle with the heel hold in the Salomon's...I'm sure someone's suggested these already to you but I can't speak highly enough about ZipFits. Super customizable, superior heel hold, and the edge to edge control you get out of those suckers is insane, not even to mention the longevity of them. I pack out stock liners within 15 days cause of my LV foot and ankle. Also, depending on which one a boot fitter recommends, the GARA will stiffen up your boot as well as that is a stiffer liner. Anyways, just wanted to give you a shout, and maybe I'll see you on the hill one day! -DJ

The most painful experience I've had in awhile. Now my boots are amazing, the scarpa 4 quattro xt's. I'm surprised you haven't changed to AT boots. They're lighter, have a rubber sole & a walk mode that's so comfortable. Keep skiing bud.

Sounds like you are going through what I went through when I got my boots last year.
I went back in after my first day and they reheated the liner and remolded it. They told me they would not do any adjustments to the boot until I have a minimum of 5-6 days on the boot.
After8-10 days most of the issues I had were gone. I will stop in sometime during this season to get a few hotspots take care of.
Just remember that once the boot is stretched you can’t undo it.
Putting the boot on while the shell was warm helped a lot.
Standing and walking was the worst part the first day.
    Let’s go!

I'm only researching van builds right now and you're the best for deep winter van life content. I also snowboard a lot and am pumped for the season. Do you worry about the starlink cable through the door trim, or would you do the starlink RJ46 Ethernet cable pass through mod? About the faucet freezing, I saw (1) someone with a simple faucet and whale foot pump; or (2) someone w/ "12v tank heater pad" and "12v elbow pipe heater pad" amazon search results to keep parts from freezing. They did have to jerry rig some temp control switch as anything above 70F used too many amps.

    • @LucasCatania17
      @LucasCatania17  9 месяцев назад +1

I don’t really worry about the cable but I think it would be best to use the mod! There’s definitely some nice heating pads for the water system. Just haven’t really spent the time to figure it out as the water jug system works well!

In my boot fitting years I found J-bars or L-pads for heel lift are the only good solution. Heel lift is often a sign of the boot being too big, but switching from a 3 piece boot to a 2 piece boot might be causing some issues in terms of expectation. Each boot will flex/deform differently and make areas open up or become tighter. Good luck, new boots suck.

While I'm not even close to the level of skiing you are (probably never will be), I am excited to see this opening as it basically signals the start of the ski season for the West. I'm actually more excited about Keystone tomorrow (Nov 1st) since they say they will open with 2 miles of runs - which I'm guessing is Schoolmarm to mid-mountain. Still a bit more legit than A-Basin, but A-Basin still gets the "win" for Colorado openings. Looks like all the big players are opening within 2 weeks - so that's great. Nearly everyone should be open by Thanksgiving. Who knows if the skiing will actually be _good_ by then, but at least it is a start.

wondering if you ever have issues parking at resorts. do you find they let you park and sleep in the parking lot overnight or are you at a rest stop or walmart thats close by?

    • @LucasCatania17

Hey mark. Sleeping at the ski resort is almost always prohibited. I usually find myself at a truck stop, Walmart or some other random parking lot for the night

They are a little pricey. I ski 20-30 days a season and mine are on the tenth year! Given the number of days you ski they would definitely be worth it.

A little more tweaking and those boots should be good... I would hope so anyway. If not, that shop should put you in a different boot free of charge or just a full refund. I tried on the S-pro 130 and that felt pretty good for a 98mm last right out of the box except it'd definitely need heat holding since the upper cuff felt too narrow. If those 120's don't end of working, maybe try the new Lange Shadow 130?

    • @LucasCatania17

Yeah we will see! Definitely need to give the boots a good week or so to really break in before making any other decisions. I’ll reevaluate when I get back to Utah!

Lucas, just want you to know, from an algorithm perspective. you have so many comments (129) with so little views (4499) in 6 hrs. This can mean you have explosive reaction from those who view. In this niche subject and snow/ski category, now, you must be leading. I think you are my biggest ski vlogger type guy that based in the U.S. And, there is no equal I can think of that gets this kind of explosive reaction from the viewers (129 comments/4499views/ in 6 hrs). I think it's time for you to increase frequency of uploading schedule. Kind of like Casey Neistat's daily vlog days. I think, it absolutely has the momentum. Consider hiring a dedicated video editor to pump out more contents. Right now, it's time to focus frequency than quality. Winter is short. You can re-do a higher quality/longer content with you actually behind all the editing process when you have more free time after the winter. Go go go! (And, Yes, like this video here. Daily type. you are already on it!) (You know what i was just thinking? Stradman the car guy is also a UTAH guy. OMG, you gotta have him do a guest appearance in your show. you never know. maybe he watches your channel)

Hey Lucas, your boot problem is that you don’t have a footbed in there! Footbeds are one of the most important custom features you could get made for your boot. Along with that, get a shell or liner mold, it’ll help. Always try on boot with a boot fitter before just going and buying them, it’ll save you from chasing around boot problems.

    • @justinbayola

I did the same! People act like it magically fixes everything and forget you still have to break them in and figure out the perfect buckling! I also have the s pro 120’s and got custom footbeds and shell molded. My toes were either falling asleep bc too tight or I was overflexing the boot. Took a few days to break in!
